Just read "A hunters view of the mage-templar war".
Now I want to obliterate everything and everyone.
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.
So, can you lose party members in this game, and if so how?
You can refuse to recruit them. When talking to Sera at the base I also appeared to have the option to tell her to leave. Beyond that I don't know if any events or choices can make them leave you.

Really though, enjoy the game and take your time. I just got extremely lucky to have a week's worth of vacation and most importantly, an understanding wife, that allowed me to beat it so quickly. I'm just super excited about the game.
Assuran I haven't finished the game, but I have one question. How much of an impact does a Warden romance with Morrigan (and stabbing/going with her through the eluvian) or Leliana have on the plot of DA:I? Not looking for specifics, maybe just something like 'None', 'Just a passing comment', 'Small impact', or 'Pretty integral.' You can spoiler it and put an @am0n so I know you are replying to me.
Spoiler:
My warden was one that romanced Leliana and sacrificed herself as a back story. Morrigan was rebuffed because, well, screw Morrigan. Leliana makes mention of the warden a number of times and it forms a part of the crisis of faith she is suffering, along with losing Justinia.
As for Morrigan....well, you'll see what becomes of her. I will not spoil it.

Yeah, you can lose most of your companions in this game. You'd have to be a real jerk to do it, but it's possible.

hahahaha... there should be no excuse for losing Blackwall. You gain slight approval with him for killing darkspawn with him in the group.
oddly enough, I think Varric is the same way but with those browncoated bandits you find in the southwest-ish of hinterlands. they aint carta guild
Varric gains approval for killing Red Templars. And possible dudes associated with red lyrium in general.
Are giants and their bronto herds passive? I'm a little underpowered to fight them, so I've been running in terror trying to reach the quest points in this area, so it'd be nice to know if I can calm down and not sprint from them into a Red Templar encounter.
If you're talking about in the Forest area you unlock (sorry, name slips me), when I approached them, they attacked. There were 2 of them and they had just been in a fight with the Red Templar, so I don't know if that triggered their aggressiveness. Any other time I saw a giant, it was always aggressive.
HOLY SHIT, I HATE THOSE BRONTOS. They would aggro all the time while I was fighting giants, and the feckers have so much health with guard and do so much damage with charge, which are normally not a big deal if I'm just fighting them, but there's a GIANT I'm trying to deal with over here! Eventually I learned to be super-careful with Chain Lightning and auto-attack and turning off my companions' AoEs - War Cry, Unbowed, Elemental Mines, Sweeping Strikes, Spike Trap, Caltrops, Explosive Shot, etc, etc, but GODDAMN.
That being said, to follow up on my previous horrific dead bear screenshot, I think whoever at Bioware was responsible for the Emerald Graves hated the outdoors. The companions constantly make comments about how much they hate the outdoors and there are like dead picnickers and tourists all over. The Emerald Graves is a seriously depressing-ass zone.
Spoiler-ish area question:
Do the Dalish at the temple ever eventually let you do anything? Or is it an Elf-only quest or something?
So, uhh, I need to collect some quillback innards, for uhh...a friend. I already observed them for him once, because he's kinda freaky like that, but apparently every quillback in the Western Approach is now an affront to nature and isn't actually born with intestines.
You need to stop vaporizing them with your megaplasmalaz0rs or smashing them to atoms. Try killing them with your bare hands, should net you a nice HQ pelt too. :P
I... listen, the probably means you're joking, but I've killed a million nugs now trying to get their research item. There's no "way" to kill them to get the research item, right? Is there even a nug research item, cuz there was a fennec one? Or have I just been a nug genocidal maniac for no reason?

From Leliana, you get multiple comments. Also in regards to the Warden Commander, she implies...
that if your Warden Commander is alive and romanced her, she knows where the Warden is, what the Warden is doing, and is planning on joining the Warden once the Breach and who is behind it are dealt with.

So it sounds like romancing Leliana has, overall, a very minimal impact on anything, besides just some passing comments. But that romancing Morrigan might have a larger impact on the story?
Are there enough crystal shards to open all the doors, or is it limited?
I believe there are. I've seen suggestions on other websites that's there's some sort of "final door", though I've only unlocked Spirit and half of Fire so far.
Haha, tier 3 focus abilities are exactly as overpowered as I figured. Spoilers for hissing wastes.
Just killed the level 20 dragon in hissing wastes at level 17. Run up to it from behind, pop inquisitior riftnuke focus ability, pop seras omnislash. Less than half health before the fight actually starts, then taunt it up and murder adds as they spawn, since these actually run up to characters. Was a bit dissapointing how easy it was really. Sera is even bow instead of dagger, guessing the multiattack oneshots bosses with daggers. This is on hard though, so I guess I could technically turn it up to nightmare. But things just seem to get healthspongier, not actually harder.
One of the forces Inquisition perks mentions capturing any keep as a prerequisite.
So how do I get a keep then? What does that even mean? I'm at skyhold. I don't want to waste points on the horse riding perks just to get to the stuff I want.

There is an easy keep in Western Appraoch, far west of the map.
They're basically like strongholds of enemies you clear out, it will give you base to use as fast travel and a crafting/merchant station in the area.

Does the AI know how to actually use knight enchanter abilities? I've only unlocked the first one on vivienne, but I never see her use it. She still seems to mostly cast other stuff on the bar/autoattack with the staff.
Would it help if I re-specced so she only mostly has the KE stuff?

Maybe just try swapping some of them to preferred first?

So I talk about not getting an Amulet of Power yet then I just get one off the War Table.
So if I start a new character and upload a new keep save for that character, is that going to fuck up my first character who has a different state import?

It's weird but theres a lot of opportunities where the game is very vigilant about giving you a chance to get rid of Sera.
She's the only companion that has a dedicated "get the f out of here" option in her conversation options for some reason.
I think it's because the particular style of comic relief that the character provides will be very entertaining to some players, and totally inappropriate to others.

I can dig that. I don't know if she's going to be my type of thing, but I might want to see more Vivienne and Sera together, because Vivienne style bitchery definitely IS my type of humor.

Vivienne and Sera together is incredible.
Sera: Can you even turn it off?
Viv: For you, my dear? No.

Ugh.
Vivienne is the worst. Makes me wish you could do the judgement chair thing to your companions.
I...haven't seen enough of her to say, yet. I did rack up like ten disapproves in a row with her, so I expect she'll be my main mage on the next playthrough where I go the other way.

You can tell Sera to GTFO, at least. "You don't belong here."
Didn't try it but I figured she just leaves if you do that, there was a special icon for that and all.

Is there anything to worry about Isabela style, people just leaving and not coming back?

I need 10,000 gold, stat!

Crestwood has another.
I did kind of like how they actually made Fereldan damp after all the DA:O talk about it being so.

I find her too pathetic to be entertaining. She's so full of her self and delusional.
But her bitchery is still hilarious.
