    At first glance, I thought this was going to have a bird poop joke in it.

    This was much better.

    Although if the phoenix did shit on him, that would be awesome too.

    Do you think a phoenix would shit charcoal briquettes or what?

    And interesting thought. Perhaps the reason why we've never seen a phoenix crap on somebody is because they lack the parts required to eliminate said waste. It could explain why they are constantly bursting into flames and then coming back looking rather refreshed.

    I guess the point I am trying to make is that the charred remains on his arm is just phoenix poop.

    So what you are saying is that the Phoenix's tendency to burst into flame is caused by the fact that their bodies contain so much methane because they lack an anus.

    It sounds plausible to me.
