Two nights in a row of stalling out at the end of hard mode VOG. Good groups both times, but both times we were just plagued with infuriating bugs that crippled every good run we had going.

Destiny demo is out on PS3, PS4, XB360, and XB1. Well, it's a strict demo on PS3 and 360 (6 GB file) and a "trial" on PS4 and XB1 (20 GB). And your progress transfers to the full game, if you then decide to upgrade and buy it! Cool.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how Hard VoG "feels" at 30 vs 29. Regular Goblins take a LOT of hits before going down to Epilogue at 29. Hard is definitely more interesting than Normal, but so much more frustrating. Then again, any victories are incredibly satisfying.
My glimmer farming method is to run the first mars mission first area over and over and heroic. Is there a better way? Or are those yellow cabals the best glimmer source?

The back section of the Cosmodrome - the part you start at for the Earth Strike is often considered the best. Plenty of chests that give green gear you can destruct for more cash.

So, I have a thought on this, but it will take a full raid to do it.
The start of the gatekeeper encounter is the only part of the raid that counts as an actual area with actual kills. The vex in it drop glimmer items and the yellow health bar enemies give glimmer when killed. Normally when doing this part of the encounter, the gatekeeper is killed as quickly as possible, and all the enemies are kill volumed out of existence (and if you have a glimmer item on, you get glimmer for this!)
I propose that a glimmer farming raid advance to the gatekeeper encounter, and wipe it repeatedly. Just doing this encounter repeatedly for 30ish minutes last night netted me almost 6k in glimmer+glimmer items. It would be trivial to max out glimmer for a full raid group focused on just farming it.
Now looking at those screenshots you might think big woop. But what you can't see is that the opposite team was a 6-man fireteam of five level 30s and one level 29. We, a public randoms team with nobody in the team chat, managed to beat them with no level 30s and two 27s in our team.

This is probably going to make me sound so dumb, but what's the issue with capping three points in Control?
The other team will then start spawning randomly over the map. Where if they still have A or C you can keep them pinned into that corner of the map.
Expanding on this it's only an extra 50 points per kill but controlling 2 points on keeps the other team spawning in front of you, so coordinated teams rarely seem to push on some maps, blind watch being the most obvious
Yeah, I feel like hard mode VoG at 30 is one of the most finely-tuned adventures you can have. You have to be on your toes, but you can take a lot of hits that you can't take at 28-29, and your damage output just feels right. You feel like a badass, but you have to be very much in control. Sometimes, I am not in control. Oh, and last night I learned that I do not like being the lone Bubblebro in hard VoG. I love the relic, but grabbing it meant that I couldn't bubble for all of my buddies near the end of Time's Vengeance on Atheon - unless I dropped the relic, which... worked one time, but failed and resulted in all of us dying another time.
Added a few people from the thread who weren't on my friends list to expand the roster of possible folks for nightly IB. Had to pull @Qanamil out of Dragon Age last night so he could be our sixth, which worked out, but I don't want to pressure anyone who's playing this week's new releases instead of Destiny. Plus, we played until like 5 AM, so... the more, the merrier as far as my friends list is concerned.
Everyone wish @JusticeforPluto a happy, happy birthday, and then - if you're on PS4 - come celebrate tonight with more IB shenanigans! And if you're not on PS4, I still love you.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Yes, this exactly.
We went from five 29s and a 30 in hard mode equals if we ever lost anyone during conflux we might as well restart and no ability to get past gatekeeper.
To five 30s and a 29 in hard mode equaling that we can beat conflux with just 4 people and basically one shotting gatekeepers and Atheon.

Will do. Sent you a msg last night for Nightfall but didn't hear from you do you get it? I've never tried to send a msg across platforms before.
All 29's - Couldn't reach Oracles.
One 30 - Required the last Guardian standing (29) to hide in a hole and take pot-shots at Fanatics/Harpies, nearly dying many times. Called it at the Maze due to time.
One 30 - Couldn't beat Gatekeepers.
Two 30's - Couldn't beat Atheon, quit due to time.
Two 30's - Barely downed Gatekeepers, had minimal trouble with Atheon but downed him.
It's definitely tough with minimal 30's, so I'm glad I can contribute now/soon.
Also, thinking on my double Fatebringer drop, this means that beating hard mode without beating normal rolls twice on the hard mode loot table, rather than once on each table. You have double the chances to get hard mode loot if you don't do normal mode first.

I just checked and I have logged over 3 days in the crucible. According to destiny tracker I'm in the top 2% in terms of time played. I say this because I was going to write a post about preforms and how they aren't always pubstomp groups and yadda yadda and then I stopped because it came off as a battle hardened grizzled old man's ranting, which... when it comes to this game's pvp, I apparently am.

No, it locks you out of loot for both modes when you do it on hard first.

I'll be on tonight to get some IB, I really want to get the boots since VoG doesn't want me to be 30, it even threw more gloves and chest at me, and almost every weapon!

You know what is fun? Try doing crucible with a few of your buddies who don't do PvP or are under leveled. Say you're a 30 with a bunch of 20's. You'll get matched vs a team that's likely lower level than you, meaning you get to curb stomp everyone even if your team is losing.
Fun times.

I'm not convinced that means much (if anything). destinytracker has me at 29 hours played (in Crucible) and I'm in the top 25% in time played? I think they're still "tracking" a lot of inactive players - the ones that logged in during launch week, played for a handful of hours (or less) and then decided that Density Sucks (tm) and never looked back. So there's a lot of dead weight at the bottom of the list.
Having said that, my K/D, KA/D, and Combat rating are in the "top 99%" or "top 98%" - which is to say the bottom 1-2% of all players. So, I'm firmly in the dead weight category when it comes to kills, myself! Which is kinda amazing since my overall win percentage is pretty damn close to 50% and I'm in the top 15% and 17% for zones captured and neutralized, respectively.
Having said THAT, I only had about 90 minutes to play last night but managed to get in a handful of Iron Barberra matches. I literally doubled my reputation! The token system works great. I lost the first three matches (by a HUGE point differential - in one game our highest scoring player was was beaten by the lowest scoring player on the winning team!) and then got back all most of the rep on the first win. And, since the last go-around the shader was sold at rank 1, I already have that. Unless the IB inventory changes, I'm only shooting for rank 4, which seems pretty doable by the end of the weekend.

Exactly this, I got 2 titan helmets off my first HM Atheon kill.

Now that some of the maps are more balanced, I've found the matchmaking much better. I think a lot of my complaints about matchmaking earlier were actually poor map design, which would cause a slight difference in skill or starting position to result in a full game of pain. Small sample-size post patch, but I'm coming around on the matchmaking.
thanks to everybody who helped me get to Rank 5 Iron Banner. I don't really have the will or desire to grind out the glimmer for the weapons, but i got both sets of armor and the Rank 5 Shader. Much fun had, ill throw together some sort of compilation clip of stuff eventually.
I think I'm right on the fringe for the matchmaker's rankings. Sometimes I'll get paired against guys who are just clearly better than me, sliding under headshots, skilled jumper-hovers, etc. and in those games I'm definitely the 5-6 player on my team. Then other times I'll get paired "down" and then I'm usually 1-2, because I'll shoot them in the head while they take body shots, etc. It's just kinda funny seeing how big the difference is and going back and forth between the two groups.
