I still feel today the same way I felt yesterday when I first heard the news about the exotic upgrades: to me, an exotic is "done" when it hits the cap it had when I got it. If I really enjoy a particular weapon and feel like I want to carry it forward through the upgrade path, I probably won't bother until I get a replacement. This way my collection-craving OCD completionist nature won't feel completely shat on by the over-whelming amount of work I would need to re-do to bring my current exotic armament up to the new lv32 cap.
I'll probably do the same thing again when the next DLC releases.
If, by some miracle, Bungie decides to not completely invalidate all the time/effort/glimmer/resources I've poured into my collection, then maybe I'll reconsider.
Until the DLC releases, though, I'm firmly in a wait-and-see pattern with very low expectations.
On the other hand, I'm champing at the goddam bit to get into the new raid and kick some Hive ass. To me, the new raid alone will be worth the price of admission (other stupid design decisions notwithstanding).
I think I am alone in thinking the Vex are much cooler than the Hive. Other than the fact that it is a new raid, Crota's End is significantly less exciting for me than Vault is.
In terms of my interest in them as a race, the pacing is all wrong. From most boring to most interesting, we should have got a Hive raid first, then Fallen, Cabal, and then cap it all off with the Vex.
Terrible use of the races to me.
Ah well. I am one Titan. I don't much a majority make.
I like the Hive best of all. But in terms of escalation of threat the Vault of Glass is a bit crazy.
Crota can kill guardians properly, but the Vex are trying to rewrite the entire universe. It's a global threat -> local threat progression. Which is backwards.

its the same one I think. I did a hard reboot of my xbox last night and it stopped.
I managed to pull "The Hanged Man" shader from a Dead Orbit package last night. Combined with the Bittersteel I got weeks ago, that gives me 2 of the DO shaders. But I REALLY wanted Revenant. Has anyone gotten anything other than those 3 from Dead Orbit? I know there was speculation that each faction actually has 4 shaders to offer (there are definitely 4 shaders that fit the color and naming scheme of FWC's), but they might not all be available yet.

Does this mean that phoning in rumble/skirmish for bounties will actually make these take longer to get since the match stops?

Oh well. I'm slightly miffed, but I don't see things changing so might as well just wait and see.
I'm really not sure what the real problem is. Maybe it's because I run around using exotics that are not at the max damage level. I just don't see the issue with using a 300 power (or less) exotic in the expansion. When Xur shows up and you have to re-level something, "Exotic upgrade paths require much less time and material". Throw in the extra bounties we will all be doing (and Iron Banner a week later), and we will have plenty of experience.

Team SBFF needs two and possibly three people for VoG tonight/in the next hour. We'd like to try for a hard mode clear but we'll do a normal if we can't get enough 30's together.
I no longer have a problem with thier upgrade plan. It's be nice if upgraded exotics transfered exp over but it's not the end of the world.
Im guessing you didn't use any exotic shards from Monday to Wednesday, then.
Sometimes it doesn't pay to Early Adopt?

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't mind re-leveling exotics to make them more powerful in raid situations. I know doing bounties can be a drag, but for PVP grouping up makes that go by a lot faster, and if you join one other person for the PVE stuff it isn't so bad.
Also so happy that I have two exotic bounties to work on. A better Bad Juju for Billy? You better believe it boy!!!
I did. Leveled up vex completely with like 30 bounties. Not telling everyone the whole plan and just rolling out the shard part was absolutely dumb.
I almost broke down my extra suros or ghalgajorn for shards! Lucky I just did hard light.
I'd prefer it if you got a bonus start on upgraded exotics. Or if the upgraded exotics never dropped on current exotics had to be maxed before upgrading
But at least upgrading your 300 exotic will still end up with a better (damage wise) gun.

Oddly enough, that's exactly why I didn't use any exotic shards because I had a sinking suspicion a change that big this close to the expansion had strings attached.
Aand not a single word addressing commendations. Nice.
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.
Took @Fawst along for checking all the ghosts on Earth, and pointed some out on Mars too. I even managed to get the very hard jumping one
Just remember, respec your character for maximum agility to jump up way way higher, and you might get somewhere much easier.
Tomorrow I will check my grimoire for which cards I am still missing; I guess the biggest hole in my collection will be for the exotic weapons...
And Iron Banner with Level 31 gear, accessible for everyone? Yes please! Helmets and chest pieces pretty please?

Seeing as one of the bounties requires you to kill players on vehicles and they've removed the maps with the highest occurrence of players on vehicles do you think that means that they'll... ah, who am I kidding, you can get salvage bounties on a Wednesday, or Combined Arms weekend.

I have like probably almost 300 hours in the game and just hit 30 last night
(I could have been 30 earlier, but I kept getting new pieces of armor I'd rather use and kept swapping out, like Iron Banner pieces or a new exotic or finally getting Vault hat)
I still feel today the same way I felt yesterday when I first heard the news about the exotic upgrades: to me, an exotic is "done" when it hits the cap it had when I got it. I bet Crota's "power level" will be higher than what many assume. He's considered a Hive God, and is the son of Oryx, which I imagine as some Lovecraftian horrorscape of an entity that rends space and reality in its own way.

I totally agree about names.
I think they're all over the shopping centre - I complained at length about minotaurs not having horns while hobgoblins do, or that 'praetorian' should be a Cabal name - so I totally agree on the Vex/Hive name thing.
Though I think the vex, fallen and hive got their names mixed up - the hive should be the fallen, the vex the hive and the fallen the vex. Though thematically the fallen are apparently a fallen civilisation and the hive have thralls which are sort of like drones, I guess. Hell, the Cabal could apply equally well to the Fallen or Hive and doesn't have any real resonance with the militaristic thing we see as things are right now.
But as for the Vex being a hivemind, it's an informed characteristic that never comes up again, seems weakly at odds with the fact that the major Vex has individual names and therefore dumb and squandered. It certainly doesn't come up mechanically - if it did every vex would know where you were if one did, whereas at the moment you can get the drop on nearby vex after you kill others.

Also, the mechanics of the raid are gradually introduced - sync plates and defending them against Praetorians and defending concludes are the basic things.
There's a progression for the catastrophe mechanics.
Starts off with the fanatic's local ability to mark you.
Then oracles appear and they can mark you from anywhere, but you can be cleansed.
Then you're fighting off oracles, defending the relic and can do the mobile cleanse and you have the staged boss fight where you complete a task then lay the damage, rinse and repeat.
Then there's the gorgon's maze.
Then it's portals, oracles are now instant kills, losing a plate is an instant kill and you start going blind.
Then it's Atheon and you put together all the things you learned before.
Except Gorgons. They seem to have no mechanical connection to the rest of the raid. What is that about? Could it have been intended to have something more involved? Is there an as yet undiscovered mechanic later on? Are the design principles as scattershot as they are brilliant when it comes to the VoG?
I look forward to the maze riddled with holes that you have to shoot shriekers with a light marking weapon because if you don't and they see you your party wipes.

Iron Banner gear only gets you to 31 seems not worth it.
I think that "session" needs to be clarified in the crucible updates. If it means that the match ends in case of outrageous slaughter then that creates perverse incentives in a competitive game mode. If it just means that it doesn't keep everyone together in the next bout of matchmaking then that makes sense, but then why is it phrased differently?
