The body slamming politician got elected in Montana tonight.
Ubisoft viral marketing has gone too far
Well... part of that is most of the people had already voted in early elections before the body slamming happened, which he was leading by a large amount. I think most of the Montanan people would have changed their vote if they had the ability to.
While Trump himself is proving to be an ineffectual dumbass, imagine an actually persuasive president pursuing something similar, due to public sentiment due to war in the Middle East or something. So while the government focuses all its attention on those pesky brown people, good Christian boys can do whatever they feel like.
Requires a bit of a rethink on what's normal in this country and doesn't solve the problem of why the military wouldn't eventually get their shit together and intervene, but there it is.

This doesn't even have to be a thing. I'm guessing that these folks are like the town from Get Out, where on the surface no one notices that these are evil people. There might be clues, like how everyone is armed, or there are no black people, or how everyone loves their preacher a bit too much, but unless you are really looking for it you wouldn't notice this until shit goes down and suddenly you find out that the barbecue they had for Sunday after service was the nice waitress you were flirting with and you are now chained under some hillbillies basement about to get fixed up for the next service. With the large amount of open areas and the small police forces in those areas, such a church or town could go unnoticed to the larger world, even if one person started a one-man-army war on it. Hell, when it all said and done, most likely you'd go to jail for terrorism when a whole town explodes and disappears overnight.
Press briefings like the one I attended in Los Angeles last week are usually pretty quiet affairs. There’s a slideshow, some samples of gameplay and, if you’re lucky, a little hands-on time with a demo. But I have never witnessed such a sober, somber, serious presentation about a video game as the one that Ubisoft gave in that room.
In fact, I’m not even allowed to share all of it with you.
“This is not theatrics,” cautioned Ubisoft associate public relations director Stone Chin. “There are actually real-world consequences that are involved” in sharing some of the stories that we in the press were told on background.
So I will tell you what I can.

I will honestly say I'm more than a little worried about the eventual outcry this game will get. It's going to bring a lot of scary assholes out of the woodwork and we'll no doubt have to see more of them than we ever want to.
They were resisting arrest and the deputies felt afraid for their lives?
what?
the cult was marching people from their homes at gun-point and killing some of them. there were no deputies in the trailer at all
that's not softer means
Not wearing uniforms does not mean that the local cult sheriff has not empowered them to act on his or her behalf. Also, I was referencing events such as this:
Black lives matter.

Hey, that's my town!
In that case the cop shot the guy because she (wrongly) felt she was in danger and used too much force, and she appears to have been acquitted through some sort of technicality. (Jurors were very upset about about having to give that verdict and were crying.)
Granted that doesn't change the fact that an innocent man got killed and it raises questions about why black people are inherently thought of as scary threats, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

I also already pre-ordered the game tho.
Between this and The Handmaid's Tale, media is getting pretty confrontational....getting serious holding up a mirror to the end goals of a ton of recent rhetoric.

From that Kotaku article, the feature I am looking most forward to:
You can fly planes. And get in dogfights. You can also drive, according to the game’s press release, “iconic American muscle cars, big rigs, ATVs and boats.”
Black lives matter.

Oh my god the music that kicks in during the trailer is what's going to make people lose their minds at this game.
I really love those little vignettes of the player allies. The pastor especially looks very cool, reminds me a lot of Longinus from FC4.
The real question though is this: When will Hurk show up?
And on who's side? In FarCry 4 he seemed to be willing to kill any brown-skinned individuals, refraining from friendly fire only because he didn't feel like fighting both sides at the same time.

Are you talking about the butchering they did of This Land Is Your Land? Because I'mma murder some nazi theocrats for co-opting that shit.
the song in the trailer is an actual song; it's not a co-opt of this land. there are some melody similarities in places, but it's definitely distinct.
I honestly don't think the song matters. As a Christian, I'm used to crazy groups co-opting Christian things for terrible reasons...so the premise of this game isn't offensive to me at all. And the people who were going to be offended by this premise aren't going to be more or less offended by stuff like that...they were just going to be offended anyway.
Honestly decisions like the group having a distinct crossish-but-not-a-cross iconography are solid ones from a perspective of not offending people unnecessarily. To me, it seems like Ubisoft put some actual thought into doing this without offending people they aren't trying to offend.
Man the Pastor Jeffries trailer is better than the announcement trailer for selling me on the game.
yeah, it was definitely my fav out of the bunch. am honestly surprised we didn't get more on the villain. yeah he does the voice over for the reveal, but as an introduction its a bit underwhelming in comparison to Vaas and Pagan Min.

Trump wants to change a government program designed to monitor and counter all violent ideologies to only focus on violent Islamic ideologies.

didn't seem to be that way in the trailer. they were straight up killing people with guns and iconized spears

you're forcing a specific read way too much on this, man
Probably was a mixture of both methods.
There's at least one black dude in the cult too, think I saw a second one in the church scene.
Black dudes? In far right-wing Christian groups?
This game really is unrealistic. :P
They're probably one of the only 10 in the state, and will be killed by the player character too... so eh?
At least one of the other 10 will stick around for at least the first and second acts?
No hint if it's actually going to affect the gameplay or story, but that would be pretty amazing if it did.

Hey now, at least use the correct term. They aren't black dudes in this case, they prefer to be called Ben Carsons.

The dude in the jacket looks like he may be another secondary, but his hair and stuff looks too much like generic baddies.
