So today I learned that with Solar Crest, plus GG boots, plus Glimmer Cape you can make Huskar nigh unkillable to anything but pure damage.
25 Armour, 15 HP regen, 30% evasion, over 100% magic resistance.
I think I'm rushing those items every time I have a Huskar on my team.
Edit: Speaking of weird interactions, here's one: Meepo's Poof doesn't disjoint Sniper's ulti. I just saw a sniper shot from across the map after Meepo Poof'd back to base. It was precise, and it was deadly. Sniper assured me he accounted for the Coriolis effect.

Poof makes sense since it is essentially a teleport which doesn't disjoint things

You should have seen him back when you could still auto attack with burning spears while ghost scepter is activated.
I've been playing a fair share of Huskar lately. He is the type of hero that wins in the draft, if the other team doesn't have a good way to deal with him he has no chance.
Lina, QoP, Bloodseeker and Ancient Apparition are pretty much insta losses. The first 3 all do pure damage, and if you are playing huskar well you spend a lot of the game at very low health in order maximize attack speed. In a similar vein Enchantress is pretty scary, but she is so damn squishy that if you ever get on top of her with some lockdown it's not too bad. If the other team has an Ancient Apparition you are so screwed, AA's ult disables everything good about Huskar. You can't armlet toggle, your heal doesn't work and you are probably in danger of being easily shattered for most of the game.
He's also pretty weak to physical damage, so Ursa, Brood, PA, Templar can be tough (but not impossible) to win against.
That being said, if the enemy lineup doesn't have any of these guys they don't have a chance. Big magic nukes are so popular right now, you can easily fit Huskar into a lot of games. He crushes Leshrac. Gyro can rocket barrage+call down but it won't do anything, then his terrible range puts him right where you want him. Storm spirit can zip-zap all day, it won't matter. He's even a pretty good pick against Anti-Mage because you come online and can threaten to end the game right around the 20 minute mark.
Had probably one of the worst Dota experiences in my last game. Tiny(who called mid) feeds the courier before the 0:00 mark. Then sits afk in fountain for a few minutes before going to safelane to start Tossing people into their offlane combo of Viper and Pudge, he then does a follow on anyone near him until the enemies come close enough that he can toss them in. By the 16 minute mark all outer towers were down and they wasted another 15 minutes farming kills instead of just pushing to win. What a waste of time.
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...
Wow. 90 minute game against Techies and Naga. If we killed Naga, she bought back. If we killed her again, Techies had the rax mined. We brought detection, he used the minefield sign. If we won a teamfight without killing Naga first, she'd Song before they got wiped. We took down two rax, we took rosh something like 5 times, and it still didn't matter in the end. Even Naga decided he/she hated Naga and never wanted to play her again.
I didn't mind though. I got to practice on Puck and get 6 slotted, which was kinda nice. Someone somewhere mentioned that their approach to a Techies game is just to have fun farming and getting 6-slotted. And I really did. It was awesome getting multiple chances to blink, Waning Rift, Dream Coil, Illusory Orb, Shiva's active, Hex, Dagon, Phase, Jaunt out. (I didn't actually do all that at once coz I suck and forget things and panic, but I got close.)
Edit: I'll be honest, I like cosmetics. Nothing makes me happier to play a hero than knowing I've got my Barbie Doll looking all Gucci. I've tried out heroes that I got a cool cosmetic for, and realised I like them. I've replayed heroes once I had a new set for them, and learned to love them all over again. Plus I'm time-rich and money poor, so paying a few dollars for an otherwise free game is great for me. I relaise you're only talking about companions, and yeah I'll admit they can block important stuff in a teamfight, but damn that CM puppy is cute.
i dont know if it works on tiny toss, but you can disable team help with one of the top left buttons.
so you can prevent force staff trolls and the like.
Holy balls. I did not know this existed.
I only found out today, coincidentally. We had an Io, and all of a sudden he said "[Hero X] why do you have team help turned off?"
I was like....wut. But then figured it out from the context. It's definitely a cool idea, but I'd hate it if too many people turned it off.
Personally, I've seen like...one example of ability abuse in my whole time. It might be BECAUSE of the threat of this feature, or the report function, but it feels like DOTA doesn't have massive ability trolling, for whatever reason.
The first thing I do when someone in a pub picks Wisp is disable help. Not because of trolling though. I just have zero faith in a pub Wisp's decision making. Especially when they're unlikely to use voice comms while playing the most teamwork oriented hero in the game.
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...
Guys, I just got to see the incredible power of BKB in a way I'd never witnessed. So PA and Slardar were pushing mid rax by themselves, and I was thinking "this cannot end well". So I pinged for them to get out. Then suddenly ES, Lina, Skywrath, Invoker, and Storm ALL open up on them. I stared in complete amazement as absolutely NOTHING happened to their health bars, and then they wiped the whole team by themselves.
I'm just saying, I knew BKB was good but holy shit.
Dhalphirdon't you open that trapdooryou're a fool if you dareRegistered Userregular
BKB, like any other item, varies in power depending on the heroes you're facing. One of the biggest mistakes pub Doto players make is incorporating BKBs into their default item build. It's not always the right choice, but when it is, it's VERY right.
Two disappointing games in a row in ranked where we should have won but lost because my team couldn't group up for shit. First game we had a carry PL who farmed the whole game and joined maybe 2 teamfights so every fight was 5v4. Then as Gyro I racked up 15 kills and 15 assists but after that my team just spread out and ended up getting outnumbered in every fight. Didn't help that SB would charge me and get multiple bashes every time.
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...
the cosmetic companions/pet things are the dumbest thing Valve has ever done
they are SO distracting when you're watching a game
Of all the different ways to monetize a game, it's probably the best one.
And isn't there a way to disable all cosmetics when launching the game? Which wont help when you're watching a game using something other than the client, but it's a small price to pay.
I think the pets may be bugged in Reborn. Last night in a game I saw an armadillo and none of my teammates were near me. I starting running away just as a fissure came at me from the fog. Pretty lame for the other guy.
I thought it was a lot closer, but I had 6K more farm than the Lina on my team while the other team had a #5 Lion that outfarmed her. I spent most of my time farming ancients and one creep wave so I'm not sure what went wrong with the rest of my team farm wise.
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...
That ending is literally bananas. Literally. Bananas.
Like you think its bananas. And then it some gets even more BANANAS.
Any chance of a summary for us chumps with baaaaaaaad internet?
NiP was basically way behind the whole game, but had a farmed Anti Mage on Era. Empire overstayed a push and got mostly wiped, NiP ran down mid, took out the t3 and went straight for the gg push. They got the Ancient exposed, but got repelled while Empire took their last barracks for megas. Era bought back, sold enough gear for Bot lvl 2, the legion commander ran all the way to the Radiant base for Era to TP to him, but got caught. Era tp'd anyway and they ran straight into the base on opposite side while the Dire ancient was under siege. Got the Radiant Ancient down to 8 hp and then...the screen shifted to the Dire side as the Ancient fell.
1) Silence 2) Books must be returned by the last date shown 3) Do not interfere with the nature of causality

They got it down to, IIRC 80hp. The first time. Then 8hp. And still lost.
To be fair, odds were heavily against them winning anyway. It took a ridiculous series of yolo plays to get that close, they were basically getting blown out of the water right up until that end part. I mean, it was an awesome ending, but they were so far behind the 8-ball that they should never have gotten that close.

Lol I abused the living hell out of that. Phase/armlet/ghost scepter/aghs is responsible for 75% of my husk wins.
Man, I have been on an insufferable loss streak lately, the kind of funk that makes you question why you even bother playing the game, and if you even know what you're doing anymore. Been constantly losing to snowballing storm spirits and ultra farmed anti mages.
I'm with you brother. I find 10v10 is scratching the itch lately to play a game where I can let go of the pressure to win and just have fun.
Lots and lots of Overthrow and 10v10 for me, lately. I just really struggle during teamfights, and Overthrow has been the practice I needed. I've been playing Techies a lot in 10v10. Wish more people would buy Pipe in 10v10, though. Zeus is in every 10v10 game. Every one of them. Get Pipe.

Is there a stream VOD?
Don't see one quite yet, probably be a few hours.
Holy shit what a match, you will never see something like that ever again.
Just watch this, one of the best games of the year.
