Dang, the next time DSBs go on sale they are going to be bought out in minutes. This time we got two, but given recent events we would get at least 30 next time around.
I'm hoping mine come in not before PAX but before I move, which is why I paid for the 2 day delivery and still nothing. Not complaining or anything, just getting antsy and if I don't express it towards someone I'm gonna freak out.
Disclaimer:
I understand that the Warehouse folks are working hard to ship all the orders. This just deals with the unfortunate lining up of life events.
Edit:
This is why I love the PA store crew. I wasn't looking for a response, but one of them helped me get the tracking number anyways. Great customer service really does make one feel better when stressed. Thanks again @North
Much like darkinfero, I'm also working on a spreadsheet. This one focuses on splitting the unboxings into their respective sets/years. It was made so I could see the current statistical likeliness of unboxing something from a specific set.
In case it matters, the other pin from my DSB beside the LE Merch was the 2013 Fruitfucker from the PA Core set. Good trading fodder for PAX.
I suspect he may be thinking that from this point forward it will be near impossible for a new collector to get the blind boxes, as the demand for them by hardcore collectors just shot through the stratosphere
Speaking of... is there any information you can share with us about the next set of boxes that will be available? I really want another shot at a blind merch, and next time I will get at least ten times as many boxes to get a realistic chance.

Black Friday is almost certainly your next opportunity. They need a couple months to organize, clean, and box up the pins after Prime. Plus at this point PA's partaking in Black Friday sales is almost expected, and they wouldn't pass up the opportunity to have the next set of DSBs in that, too.
so how many people are still planning to leave some sealed to open at pax?
I am sticking to my word and am going to open them in front of the merch booth, even if there is no 1hour+ wait line there. I will just open them after I hopefully pick up a PAX Prime Polygon 2015
I'm opening my 12 remaining DSBs until either I open a DSB Merch or the boxes are all done... if I have any left, I'll have with me for PAX line unboxing.

I know exactly what those are. Thick slabs of cork. I bought several to mount the pins I was making.

@SerpicoBC You will never find the secret Martian base that I timeshare with Elon Musk.
The cork squares are great for casually displaying pins and allows me to easily and constantly rearrange them.

If that's the case, it's not like the previous set of boxes were easy to get, and these were basically sold out before the first one was even opened. Part of a solution to make them better for new collectors easier to get would be to limit the number sent to one address. I thought I had heard somewhere that there was a limit of 12, but I'm seeing people with way more than that.

Which is 1 pin every ~15 boxes.
Meaning if you open 10 boxes, you have a roughly 50% chance to get at least 1 pin.
Math: Probability of 1 or more drops is (1-probability of no drops)^#of tries.
No drops is (1-chance of thing you want). Chance here is 6.5%.
For ten (1-(1-0.065)^10) = 48.9%
This math served me so well for MMO drop rates.

How about they establish a lifetime limit to Blind Box orders. So if you order 30, then you might be forbidden from ordering any of them ever again. Or just locked to 1 each cycle. Because the new pinner can use it to get up to speed, but the old hand will assumedly have lots of trading fodder with could them use to trade with the people getting these rare pins via the Blind Boxes. Thus getting the hardcore what they want and putting even more pins in the hands of new traders.

NOPE
NOPE NOPE NOPE
PA is a business too....they have to make money and the number of new and old collectors is not super huge...yet...so a lifetime limit per person to DSBs = bad idea. You are literally punishing people for buying your merch.
It's more advantageous for them to keep selling DSBs as they have been, and honestly most collectors don't get super crazy about ordering boxes, the most I've seen ordered is 36 by @Happendy and well that's cause he's @Happendy and that's how he ROLLS!
New collectors will still be able to get into collecting easily with the Core sets, PAXs, ClubPA events, Pinny Arcade events, etc. Maybe I am harsh but everybody had almost 2 days to order some DSBs which is a lot of time when compared against ya know....PAX tickets

36% chance of getting a box with a DSBB Pin
6.5% chance finding it in the box.
Oh boy oh boy.

But that was before anyone knew about this insane hyper rare limited edition pin, which is actually even more scarce than most of us had believed possible at this point (I was operating under the assumption that unless specified otherwise, pin runs were 1000+ these days). As I posted earlier, we bought two boxes because our collection is complete and we have lots of fodder; only reason we even got two was just to get in on the fun.
But if new stock were to appear right now today, I would probably put in for 48 boxes -- and I suspect that there are people on here who would go even higher than that.
I wouldn't...I'm sorry. 14.00*48=way more money than I'm going to drop on an attempt for a single pin..I was buying for fodder..while I may buy another 1-2 to try, I think I'll be happier trading.
but yeah..I agree that this will damage some views on collecting them. its like going for the Super rare in a CCG or something, just way more expensive

If the purpose of the DSBs is to get pins to the hands of new pin buyers and swell the hobby, I think there needs to be a way to limit their mass purchase by dedicated veterans. Especially since they just greatly increased demand for the next batch. It's already essentially impossible to get every pin directly. Why not limit a branch of sales to the people who would benefit the most from it? Providing a way to get a little edge for new traders is a way to keep the hobby growing and avoid it becoming stagnant and just about the current fans.
Maybe keep the DSBs the way they are and introduce a real starter set. They current starter set costs more per pin than a DSB, and provides no more valuable pins. Now if it was like 20 random pins for $50. But you can only buy it if you haven't spent $X on pins before. Even better, make those like CCG packs. Have a rarity distribution, so when you get your starter pack, it'll have something good you can parlay into more.

I just buy a lot to trade, limited editions I end up giving away usually for charity or what not. Rare are the pins I keep for myself, unless the designs are super dope (see: Automata pins, Iron Guard pin, Don't Starve pin )
Edit: this is miserable. Why would anyone do this?
Your problem is that you aren't rolling around in enough pins to keep them from stabbing you. Just imagine how much more comfortable you would be if you replaced one of those sharp, pokey, blind merch pins with these four luxurious ones:

Opened up 5 more of my boxes (saving the remaining 3 for Pax... assuming I have that much will power).
Contents for those that missed the photo in the Whatsapp chat last night:
- East 2015 Tourist Tycho & Twisp
- 2013 Enforcer & Tiamat
- Bloody Bear & 2013 East Kemper
- Binwin & Flesh Reaper
- Tycho double-box: 2015 South & 2013 Prime
The shield is an Australia Limited Edition, and is both rare and sought after. Rayman on the far right is a 2013 pin and is actually more rare (1000 printed vs 1200 for the shield) although less sought after (people just don't care about Rayman ). Middle two are what I'd call garden-variety traders; one step up from fodder, nothing to write home about.
