I want to play football... badly

I want to play some real, serious football, but unfortunately my college does not allow anyone that did not play in high school to even land a try-out. I'm not quite sure where I could play an actual, serious game besides my school, so I'm not sure what my options are from this point. I'd like to eventually get some video and maybe convince the coach to give me a shot in a year or two, so I'm looking for something where the competition would actually be serious. Or am I just deluding myself at this point?

There might be intramural teams or there are semi-pro type leagues around some areas. Are you at a major college or something? What are the requirements of proof of playing in High School?

It's a pretty large school with a pretty famous football program. I don't think we've missed a bowl game in quite a few years...

They need stats, film, and high school coaching contact info before you can try to walk-on the squad.

I second finding out if there are any 'old man' leagues or such. You can learn alot, and if you keep pestering the coashes and actually have proof that you've not been sitting around waiting for a chance they might be more inclined to let you in on a few practice squad sessions. That's a long shot though insanely long if you're in Div 1.

In combination with the other solutions, would it be pluasible to ask the coach to let you work out with the team turning practice?

Unless you're an exceptional athlete, I would say you probably don't have a shot at a major university. There have been instances where great track stars or soccer players have been recruited for football teams but they're pretty rare. I would say if you're truly interested in trying out for a team and it's a big goal of yours you should probably transfer to a division II or III school.

I do want to play, and I'm serious about that, but I also love this school. The campus is gorgeous and there are fantastically fine parties almost all the time. I'm not totally closed to the idea of transferring, but I don't think any other school in the country could offer me such a high quality experience in so many areas.
