I read on some website that the Clannad visual novel is coming to steam. Does that mean there's a chance for other big name visual novels to come to steam as well?

Space Asshole is the best kind of multiplayer.
My nephew and his friends once invited me to their deathmatch game, where they had decided they were playing Hide and Seek. One guy would need to find the other players hidden about a map and hit them with the sledgehammer to count as a 'find'. No guns allowed. Naturally they made me the seeker and giggled among themselves that I'd be some doddering old scrub who can't vidya to save his life.
I knew one kid was hiding in a building with only one doorway in and out of it, so rather than do the obvious, I set a C4 charge on the opposite wall, then stood near the doorway and set it off. As expected, the kid shat bricks and made straight for the exit, only to get whanged in the face with my space sledgehammer. After some shenanigans like that, they decided that they were all going to try and find me at the same time to put me in my place.
Unbeknownst to them, I am a huge Metal Gear Solid fanboy.
They all expected me to hide in structures or some kind of cover; I actually just crouched in plain sight between 2 crates next to a staircase once and had to hold in my giggling when one of them walked RIGHT past me saying "where the bloody hell did he get to?" Then I activated my jet pack to get to the top of the stairs which scared the bejeezus out of him and I spent the rest of the round tittering like a schoolgirl when they kept losing track of me.

Eh. I started losing interest in the series when they changed mid-counters. -> + B for punch and <- + B for kick. Which would probably have been fine except counters for high and low attacks were just back arrow regardless of the attack. Then the 'boss' fight became a tedious exercise in learning a new fight mechanic for just the one battle versus a programed cheat.
Shortly after that, I lost all interest in fighting games. They couldn't even make a sequel to XBV that didn't fuck things up.
Still can't log in to Steamgifts. So instead we'll run a little 'contest'.
Since I had recently finished Alan Wake getting all of the achievements, I picked up Alan Wake Collector's Edition and Alan Wake's American Nightmare intending to give them to my ex since they are a big fan of that kind of horror/thriller. But, it turns out they already have both anyway. And, as it happens, pretty much everybody on my Steam friends list has them, too.
So, I'll give them away to whomever tells me the best story of the craziest nightmare they've ever had. PM me the stories (and if you'd like me to share it should you win). Also, state which one you want with your entry. Though, depending on the number of entries, you may win both anyway.

I, too, am super hype for this! I love the grapple/counter system in this. It's just such a fun fighting game. It's like the one fighting game that I've actually been able to really get into.
It really is a ton of fun, and of all fighting game series, it's the one I've been able to get into most as well with the way its mechanics work. 3 is the best I've ever been at any fighting game (and its lack of online let me stay deluded that I was more or less undefeatable at it back in the day). 5 was such a massive step up from 4 as well, it was an awesome surprise. I have standard 5 and 5 Ultimate on 360 but I'll happily get Last Round on Steam. Even if they are Capcomming it a bit with the upgraded re-releases...

This year I'd like to throw my hat in the ring and provide a stretch goal opportunity for the generous people in this great community we call Penny Arcade.
Over the last few months, I've been working away at a new hobby that brings great pixel art off the screen into physical, tangible items for display. Dungeon of the Endless has been the primary inspiration to give this art form a go and I just finished my 5th piece, with plenty more in various stages of completion
But it's time to mix it up, and this is where you come in!
If the stretch goal amount is achieved, everyone who donates $30 or more will go into a pool where one lucky winner will receive a hand-made, 8-16bit inspired era pixel art of their choosing (details below). This is a physical piece of art that I'll send to you, wherever you are in the world, for you to own and cherish.
I'm looking forward to the challenge everyone, so get those donations in! :biggrin:
Ideally it'd be a favoured game character from the 8-16bit era or games inspired by it (as that's what my experience is in), but it could even be your forum avatar. We'll work something out that you'll think is rad.
As I use 10mm wooden cubes, the maximum for the piece is 30-40px high and 30-40px wide. For reference in the above photo, Ness (red armour) is 42px high and consists of 554 cubes - it's pretty massive and provides plenty of room for detail.
The artwork can be mounted on painted board as pictured, or it can be sent free-standing and simply secured for postage that you can then remove. Speaking of which...
I'm fully aware how expensive international postage for items this large from my neck of the woods, but I'll cover the cost with a smile.

It was December 19-Jan 3rd last year. Last year's autumn sale roughly matched up with this years so wouldn't be surprised if it did again, as there's like no games coming out between those dates. MGS Ground Zeroes hits on December 18th and then it is barren.

It's completely surreal when you open up a gift so entirely overwhelming from someone you know primarily by a name and a thumbnail. Then you get to explain to your friends and family where the console came from which is odd to say the least! "So I belong to these online forums run by a comic, not a comic book, but a comic strip, like Garfield or Dilbert but online and about games and stuff. These forums have a bunch of people who are sort of nuts..."

Dead or Alive excites me simply because I love fighting games and am always happy to see more of them hit the PC. As a Wii U only console owner at the moment it's especially nice to see as fighting games and sports games are the two genres that are lacking on the system.

A friend of mine had DoA1, and it was the second fighting game (after MK2) I actually learned how to play and use actual combos, and it was a great fighting game. Now it's just kinda gone into that creepy territory of you don't have to use those costumes, but they do exist which just makes it awkward.
Plus my logical mind can't deal with those, seriously, that lei would never stay in place. And being that well endowed would be severely detrimental towards fighting and hurt like mad as they pulled and stretched as you moved. They'd have to strap them down for any sort of serious match. And now I've gone and become that guy. Ugh.
edit: You guys sending out consoles and computers is absolutely amazing to me. I participate in the Secret Santa, which is a stretch for some of my family to understand, but at least there's reciprocal giving that they can cope with. Just randomly giving someone something expensive like that? It's truly incredible. I've tried to explain even just the game giving, which is crazy, but somewhat intangible due to the digital nature.

Not sure what you consider big name, but there are a few fairly well known VNs already on Steam or in the process of coming to Steam. Planetarian is on there already, and Higurashi (a personal fave) was Greenlit and is being worked on currently.
I think there's been a trend recently of more VNs, both Japanese translated and original English-language ones, coming out on Steam. Whether we'll ever see the likes of Fate/Stay Night, Steins;Gate, and others...who knows? It's a slow process but I'm optimistic.
