As much as I enjoy Rek'Sai and recognize she's pretty strong, her ult still doesn't feel great. The big reason is that it is a 'win more' ultimate. If your team is winning the vision war, it's great. If you are not the active is near useless as all of your tunnels will be crushed.
I'd have rather seen the ultimate be either rush to a tunnel anywhere on the map, or a much shorter tunnel to a point (a la Twisted Fate)
I use it alot for pressure over anything else. Early/mid game it means you're basically only ever out your jungle for the 8 seconds it takes to recall. Late game you can leave it at dragon or near buffs to give you easy access.
Why should riot get graded when the problem is the last mile on the east coast?
Last Mile isn't too bad in most metro areas, I'm on Fiber near Philly. The problem is thatyou need to pass onto either Comcast or Fios, and I can see both companies trying to extort Riot over "fast lane" access.
Or if it really is a proximity issue, I'm sure there's some provider with a more local NOC.
Why should riot get graded when the problem is the last mile on the east coast?
The US internet infrastructure isn't great, but Riot runs into problems that people with better server tech don't run into. It is absolutely Riot's problem, hence why Riot has the problem and other people don't. Titanfall being one good example of many.
If nothing else, you run into speed of light issues, which is 15 ms (very approximately, but this estimate is probably actually low) in and of itself. That's a substantial improvement in and of itself, and that's before doing any actual network engineering.
Just played a nice normal where afterwards our jungler asked "is anyone in a premade? Can I join?" and then my husband and I played two more matches with the guy (won both). Excellent cause neither of us jungle, and, furthermore, the rando was totally civil and nice on voice chat. How rarely does something like that happen! Just thought I'd note it here.

While not super-common, I find that it's possible to occasionally run into decent human beings while playing League. It's always a novel and pleasant experience.
Like playing Udyr into Poppy in top-lane and repeatedly killing both her and the jungler when they come to gank.
I didn't think anything would beat this game where I gave up first blood in a jungle invade the enemy karthus came to lane at level 1 with tear, then I quadra them to finish the game 47 minutes later.
But then we somehow won this ARAM of 4 bruisers and Urgot vs 4 of the most obnoxious ARAM champs alive.

How the hell did you manage that with such a gold deficit. I've done the bruisers beat poke, but we were ahead the whole game basically from just going all in over and over because fuck it we melt your squishy faces and someone will live to do damage to objectives.
My last AP Ez of the Poroking season I believe. I'm not sure how strong this build or build order was, but it worked.
I hesitate to say I carried our team, but it was very close. The best mechanical game I've ever played of LoL at the very least. I was arcane shifting ults & skill shots. I was essence fluxing them as 3 or more. I was poking with my Q to keep throwing out barrages. Maybe my best play ever as I engage the Nid as she's dueling our Cass. Cass goes down as I ult from the base, but manage to clip Nid. I shift in and pick her up with the free poke and she pounces toward me, takes a turret shot for her trouble, as I walk toward the health power up. Hit her with both Q and E, but know I'm going to die in the next 2 spell casts hit my zhona's and pray I pick a safe direction. I shift away from my tower as she pounces toward it and hit her with an E, auto to kill her. She called me a "cheating pussy".

No idea. It felt like we were losing the whole time, but aside from two or three bad fights where they aced us and shoved in, we were always pushing against them. They barely took our inhib once while we were constantly knocking on their door. Their Xerath was pretty good, I think the ziggs was meh. Too much bruise for them to handle.
I know I've gone lately from a 80-90 ms ping from the middle of nowhere to around a 200+ one. Only ever have that problem in League, everything else is Rammus. Probably why I have't really played recently.

Well, long ago I had 90 ping here. Fast forward to the present and analyzing the network logs of the game I'm at 133-135 for normal ping, randomly climbing up to almost 500 and every other game I have packet loss that Logs of Lag deems as bad.
You can end up in a really bad situation really quick in murderbridge if you ace the other team on your half of the map. If the spawn timers aren't quite high enough, you're just as likely to get reverse-aced in pieces when they come back, which then means all your respawns are staggered, which means you probably lost the map.
edit: Also the teamfights in Omen encounter have been glorious clusterfucks today. Really been enjoying this series.

Wow. Thresh was the least annoying champ on their team and yet they still managed to lose? Okay...
Hm, tried a game of Pantheon jungle and got into double digits with my feeding. I'm playing a bunch of normals and calling fill, and I somehow end up with adc almost every game, so my jungle game is really not improving. And yet, volunteering or demanding to jungle would be subjecting my team to aforementioned double-digit feeds, which isn't fun for anyone. Not really sure what to do about this...

as long as you can extend the game the team without a tank will always lose

Ouch. I suppose assess whether its your clear speed, clear health, or gank power that's lacking, and pick someone better at it to practice? I dunno, Pantheon seems solid for everything but speed. What's leading to so much feed? Is it bad ganks? You can always choose to farm more if you don't like the looks of things, and only show up for sure things. Especially with Pantheon, since you have great presence with the ultimate.

I think it was partially Pantheon specifically, and partially that I'm never on a sure footing as a jungler. The enemy team was at least 3/5ths premade (same username prefix) and had a highly skilled Nidalee who roamed extremely well; I didn't counter the roaming well at all, nor did my midlane Brand. I expected her to be a problem from checking out their team on Lolnexus, so I did go mid at lvl 3 to give my Brand an advantage, but even though I (solo--cause Brand was too slow to followup or maybe wasn't in a position to do so) chunked her down to ~1/3 HP, she just healed herself back up and ended up solo-killing him twice before 12 minutes.
I'm looking at the match history; I think I ulted into a bad situation botlane after that and we all died. I'm pretty bad at jungling when I or my lanes are behind, I think; I probably should farm but I feel compelled to try and help and end up feeding. Pantheon also seems pretty impossible to play from behind. You can't do anything except jump on people, and if everyone on their team is either tanky or can burst you, you probably shouldn't jump on them (but I did anyway). Also not really sure on how long his ult takes, but clearly longer than I think, cause I kept trying to use it for combat repositioning, and really failing.
I don't own Pantheon though, so I'll probably go back to trying to jungle Udyr (I can't play Vi any more now that farming is harder). Meh, lost 6 games in a row today after winning maybe 8-9 in a row over the past two days, so it's not distressing, just telling that I have some big areas to improve in.
The enemy team was at least 3/5ths premade (same username prefix)
Oh hey I found you problem. You appear to be playing normals, probably the worst mode available to try out champions since skill ranges are more like skill gulfs and premades will ruin your day. What you should do if you want to try a new champion is take it into a bot game to get a feel for your power level and make sure you don't die to wolves or something like I've definitely never ever done in a ranked game ever for sure.
Then go play ranked, where people on either side will be your skill level and you can really see how you perform in an environment that you're fit for.
So after dropping down to D5 during the tail end of S4, I've scrapped my way back up to D2 largely playing champs that are OP as shit.
Corki, Janna, Pantheon, J4. With Liss strong in top lane and mid a pretty open field I can even fill in for solo lanes. This is a good meta for me.

But in Ranked I'm in 100% tryhard mode, which starts at champion select as I attempt to play roles/champions I'm good at. I guess I could change my attitude about that, especially during preseason...
On the other hand I have been playing with a lot of premades myself (though not in that Pantheon game), so ranked isn't always an option.

Despite the fact that Pantheon is mostly point-and-click, I think he's actually pretty difficult to play, particularly without prior experience.
He's more of a caster assassin than a tank, and his passive is the only way to avoid exploding yourself against solid opponents.
He's got a strong level 2-3 gank with his W, after that you probably want to do whatever possible to get to level 6 and then magically double kill bottom lane.
Don't build him tanky unless you have an awful team comp with no initiation at all. He only has his W for CC, he just isn't any good as a tank and since he relies on a quick skill combo for kills, he doesn't really want to build like a bruiser most of the time.
I know he isn't really super competitive, but I love sneaking in Cho mid games every once in a while because so few people know how to play against him at all.
Still want to see some 4.22 jungle changes, 4.21 was nice but the new jungle system is still butt.
Also, IMO Vi is very viable right now. Her W gives her solid clear, her ganks remain terrifying as ever, and although her TriForce build suffers in the new jungle (no gold = no TF), the ability to stack brutalizers with the new jungle item is kind of hilariously terrifying on someone like Vi.

Yeah, I don't play any assassins (or even burst mages...) at all, so the playstyle is totally foreign to me. I am trying to slowly learn, but man, the feeding is strong (since I just spam adc/supp--in ranked cause it's what I'm good at, and in normals cause I often just call fill--I am so, so much better at those roles than all other ones.)

I can help you out some time if you want, you'll have noticed that's almost all I play.
I think the trickiest thing when playing an assassin / burst mage instead of playing a bruiser / tank is that you don't make plays, you follow up on plays. Someone else needs to start the fight or bait the mistake, your job is to make the most of opportunities that are given.

Some assassins need less opening than others though. LeBlanc has been a terror at many times because of how easily she gets in, blows someone up, and gets out before people can react.
