Would work for me. I guess my question is, what level will you guys be? I could just drop by with my level 31 warlock and breeze through it but My hunter which is 29 would it need a lot more. If most people are 31 than I could probably bring my hunter over but if this is not the case, I'll bring my warlock.
My Hunter can be 31, I just won't be wearing my rad boots.

My Titan will be 30.
I'm very short on Plasteel Plate which is the only thing preventing me from hitting 31. I think I need about 75 more to fully upgrade my gloves and helm. The fastest way looks to be chain running Roc strikes

I'm not saying the gun isn't fun to use, that it isn't satisfying to get kills with or to shoot, or that you shouldn't use it. My goal is to raise awareness for its state of balance, with the hope that Bungie will take a good hard look at what role they want it to play. Bungie has stated repeatedly that they want each of their weapons to have a purpose, and for the player to have an interesting choice to make.

Wow, I just read the ability on the Deathsinger's Gaze: "Draw upon the Light within this armor to boost your ability damage against higher level enemies." I now have a reason to upgrade my Heart of the Praxic Fire. Guess I'm doing some Glimmer farming when I get home, because I don't want to be without that for when I eventually get the helm.
Of course, it's probably a shit boost to damage. I would hope it boosts you to the same damage you would do if you were the same level, but probably something like a 10% increase.
I'm not sure where you are reading this but Deathsinger's Gaze does none of this, I have it and it has Energy Projection (Grenade throw+) and a unique to Crota raid helmet ability called Moment of Power that does increased damage during Oversoul's Gaze
(as in when someone die at Crota only) perhaps you are reading some data mined pre-DLC notes somewhere?
Also, I tested out my 90% Discipline (and 90% Intelligence) gear with Heart of the Praxic Fire.
I can throw out 11 grenades during Radiance, if only the animation was faster I could throw at least one more (+Praise the Sun +Gift the of the Sun +Radiant Will) while also taking reduced damage. (+Radiant Skin)
These are dark times. Humanity stands on the brink of extinction. We will carry fire into that darkness - a beacon to guide the way, and a pyre to consume our great enemy.
The Light saved us from death and forged us into weapons. We seek to understand it, to embrace it, to consume and be consumed by it. We hope to become radiant.
Our fellow Guardians need our power. Our civilization needs our strength. There are flames that even the Darkness cannot extinguish.
Huh. That's probably what it was. I googled the helm just to see what it was and it had that perk listed on destinydb.com. Oh well! Maybe there's a hard mode version? *shrug*

Glimmer farm and buying from Rahool to break down might be faster? Plus, Cryptarch rep?
I booted up destiny today and.. I couldn't motivate myself to play. In the end the true enemy wasn't the darkness - it was the grind.
yeah, I'm playing less and less myself.
I'd argue that the draw of Destiny longterm lies with you playing it with friends/acquaintances/associates all the time. But lots of grindy tasks are made bearable by doing them with people all the time... so, yeah.
there's nothing wrong with not wanting to play Destiny all of the time. :P

I always like when people put the math behind it and it's really good insight. We should be careful though about 1 stat being the end-all of weapon evaluation. NLB is primary, not special, so comparing vs Icebreaker or Praedyth is not useful IMO. Second, it's not a normal primary, but a sniper primary, so saying it must be a better primary than TLW seems off because you're completely discounting the flexibility it gives you to have a fusion special. Also, this seems to ignore range, a pretty important factor in NLB. The best comparison is probably VoC, but with VoC to do damage you have to stay out in the open continuously firing, whereas NLB can fire, take cover, and then fire again.
Sustained perfect-world close-range DPS is a useful stat especially for certain boss fights (Atheon), but far from all-encompassing when evaluating a weapon's usefulness in PvP or Raid DPS.

Any PS4 raids going on tonight? I haven't run VoG in a couple weeks and only knocked out CE once since the expansion landed. I feel like being productive* for once rather than just grinding shit (Thorns crucible challenge has burned me out pretty hard).
The PSN status website is showing "Intermittent Connectivity".
Not having any sort of offline mode really is dicks, and if there is any sort of silver lining to these continuous hacks it is that maybe developers will get their heads straight and stop forcing online connectivity.
You'd think after the Socom fiasco back during that major PSN hack would have taught that lesson, but eh.
Destiny could very well be a singleplayer game when you just want to play by yourself and the only difference is there would be no other players around snagging blade kills that you need or screwing up chest rotations.
PSN down for me as well. I logged in a moment ago and knew something was amiss when my friends list didn't throw up a number. Hopefully this sorts itself out before 9 for the raid.
Had The Devil You Don't drop for me this morning. Been wanting a HC for a while, but leveling it up enough to get Field Scout is gonna be tough with the default 5 round mag. Worth it for the style points alone though, I think.

You may already know this, but the best way to level up weapons is to just equip them when you turn in bounties/etc.
I only stopped playing about 15m ago but I wasn't having any connection issues at all (PSN/PS4).
EDIT: do strikes level you down? What I mean is, if I happened to be in a party with someone level 30 or whatever, and jumped into the level 8 strike, would they just mow through everything, or would it somehow invisibly scale them to balance it?

There is cap on how much your level advantage affects enemy damage and how much damage you deal to them. Basically you get stronger versus enemies for up to 3 levels as you out level them, then the benefits stop. So running a level 8 strike would be the same for a level 11 as a level 30, but both would have an easier time than a level 8 would.

Don't want to try too hard to dissuade you, especially because you're excited about your drop and want to get some practice with hand cannons, but I do want to say that TDYD's tiny magazine may sour you on a class of weapon that is generally pretty fun (and stylish) - and you shouldn't let it do so. If you don't enjoy TDYD, give a different hand cannon a chance when you can. I think you'll enjoy it more.
Or maybe I'm an idiot and you'll fall in love with TDYD, in which case: game on.
I was playing 2 hours ago and I was fine...now I can't get back in.
Unless it comes back within an hour or two, I guess that's no Crota for me for this week.
Edit: never mind, I tried a few more times and got in.

To be fair, field scout mitigates most of TDYD's problems, but being forced to use it chews up a potentially valuable upgrade slot that another ability could be in.

@LCDXX@ff7007@Darkyth (though I'd imagine it would be your umpteenth run), I still need to get an attempt at Crota in before the reset, if you guys have interest in doing so tonight. Those durned holidays threw my schedule off.
Hey guys, I've got Serikon down to a bee's dick of health on the weekly. If anyone wants 9 strange coins you can join on me now and we'll reap the spoils together.
About to log off also so I'll wait five mins or until I've got two guardians before I finish him.
I've misplaced my mic at the moment so I will be unusually silent... hue hue hue.*

Well I mean, I'm not planning to main it simply because my Another Nitc is still my baby, but even with the small mag I'm still having fun with it. Eventually I want a Fatebringer or something if I can ever get a hard vog going. I just like the aesthetics and gunslinger feel of the hand cannons.
And I didn't even think about just switching weapons before turning in bounties....

@Apotheosis: back-up if we have an open slot and he's online
@shorttimin': I'm sure we can get you in @ 9pm (either me, or Arteen, or morgan will sit for you)
Thanks for the responses, everybody!
i will be there at nine. let me know if you need someone at 7. if i need to sit out at 9, i can do that, too.
Im ready and online for the 7pm. I think folks may need to send me a friend request.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

I'm a PST goon, so I'd say a start time between 1800 and 1900 would be good, personally. Maybe we can drum up a full fire team by then.
