75m sucks some serious balls. I remember I was playing online for fun and we ended up on that stage. Everybody just sat there and let the timer run out. It was awesome.

Definitely a party stage, yeah. Ill-suited for competition, as you saw with my multi-platform-spanning ground pounds.
It's not very fun for parties either. Hard to get close to other players and kick things off, and it's too hard to figure out how to get a kill to be satisfying. Just the worst stage.

X-post from the Wii U thread just to see if anyone has answers:
So I logged onto my Wii U today, and it won't let me connect to my wireless router anymore. Anyone know what's the deal? Wireless router is fine, other devices can connect to it without issue, no SSID change, no security change, just decided not to work today. Even reset my router once to test that out. I was just playing Smash online over Christmas weekend too without issue.
Only thing I could think to try would be to remove the router info from your WiiU and try and reconnect from scratch. Is it just not seeing your Wifi? I use wired, so can't readily help.

Yeah, apparently it's a thing. Error Code 103-1602. I'm too tired to keep tinkering with it now so I'll try it again in the morning. If anyone's had to deal with this before lemme know.
Edit. This morning I could connect just fine. Weird bug, Nintendo.

@Bobkins Flymo do you have an approximate date and time for the next tourney? I had lots of fun in the Christmas one and really look forward to getting some more ladder matches in the future
What would you guys consider to be the 4 main Smash Bros characters? I figure, Kirby and Mario, but then can't narrow down the other 2. Samus and Pikachu usually get prominent billing too. So does Link. I kinda wanna get a small 'set' of Amiibo, and already have Kirbs. :P

Why 4 instead of 8?
Seems like the starting lineup would be a solid choice.
Mario/Link/Pikachu always prominent on the box, kirby is the cute animal mascot
first 4 of the brawl trailer, first 4 to fly into the ds in the smash 4 trailer
I have to agree with the Mario/Link/Pikachu/Kirby set. Mario and Link are Nintendo's biggest first-party heroes by far, Pikachu is their biggest second-party developer's mascot, and Smash Brothers bears some uncanny similarities to recent Kirby games (being by the same developers). Kirby was also the one to face off with Mario in the end of the intro to 64 and in the opening to Subspace Emissary as well. And, y'know, is the director's own character.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
One KO in Cruel Smash is peanuts, especially because the Miis you fight can't grab the ledge or use B moves. Use Kirby or Dedede, inhale while dropping off the ledge, and spit 'em out beneath. Voila.
Now, 8 KOs, or 8 KOs with Lucina specifically, that you might want to Golden Hammer. Once you figure out which of the other backbreakingly hard challenges you can actually beat.
Lucina specifically? Wouldn't you just set Iai Counter and go to town with it?
Which reminds me. I played my brother a while back and he had set equipment and shit on Link... and I was going in with just custom moves. He had the power arrow. I jumped into it and used Iai Counter. It killed him from 0% in a single hit (he took 77% damage from the counter hit and took off like a rocket). Of course, getting hit by that arrow was pretty damn dumb shit, but... I did almost 80% damage with a single attack. He stopped using equipment after that round (I basically took all his stock with counter because the multiplier was destroying him).

No custom moves (or equipment) for Cruel Smash. Don't remember if it's available in the other multi man smash modes, but it's not there for Cruel.

This game seems to rain smash balls and golden hammers on my Kirby amiibo. They always spawn right where that fucker is standing. The one time I managed to snatch a golden hammer before he could, it turned out to be a squeaky one.
As punishment, I put Kirby in a 7 on 1 smash against level 9 CPU's and my level 50 Yoshi amiibo for my amusement.
Also Apex 2015 rules are out, and they are....interesting.
Only three starter stages, but they have two bans AND there's DSR in effect.
No customs, but Miis are allowed with the default settings.
It's only two-stock. This might be reasonable, but Brawl is going to be three-stock despite the game being slower than 4 if anything.
All Omegas are legal as counterpicks, but banning FD bans all Omegas.
Lot more people will play sm4sh then brawl so they may have done it for quicker matches in the game that more people want to see. Speaking of apex I wonder what the most used characters will be . Im predicting diddy , sheik ( one will probably win the tourney) luigi and Falcons will have the most representation. Interested how many people will play Bowser , Ness or Peach.
Sakurai and Bandai Namco made some interesting design decisions on Villager. Just played one that spammed non-stop arrows and the rocket thing. Up-B out of shield was my saving grace when i was finally able to get around what he was doing (and charge shot). However, geez, they had to make the bowling ball kill at 68% (rare, but damn, losing a stock because you get hit once seems rather harsh) and the arrow can kill at 100-120 and has massive knockback, even when you are at 0% and is very easily spammed, you can pop off 3 off 1 jump. I feel sorry for non-projectile users, they'll have to find a way to power through the rocket to get to Villager (my dash attack seemed to work fairly well).
In a lot of ways Villager feels like a toned down Snake. Not quite the insane weight or kill potential that Snake had, but still a character with a lot of different zoning options who also has above average tilts when the enemy gets close, and a couple very strong smashes to kill with if they read the opponent. That being said, Villager feels way more reasonable for non-projectile characters to deal with, partly because the rocket has bad priority, Villager has like, no good out of shield or ledge getup options, and Villager's tilts are just good, not broken.
For those of you thinking of golden hammering the Cruel Smash 8 KO/Lucina challenge -- DON'T. Those can be easily cheesed with a little practice. Check out this video.

I'm not an expert on the matchup, but couldn't you just shield through the rockets and then grapple beam? If you're jumping over it, you probably shouldn't be, since Villager's anti-air game is a million times better than her anti-ground game. Jab and grab are both poor, smashes are situational, and it's hard to land solid slingshot hits on standing targets, so out-spacing tilts with a ranged grab seems like it should be easy on paper.
Need some pointers on how to beat that homerun contest challenges
Ganondorf. Forget the bat, just whale on the bag, then when you run out of time, do a reverse Warlock Punch (face away from the bag, hit neutral B and then immediately move in the direction of the bag).
For the character-specific challenges, keep in mind that the bag will fly farther if you hit it with the tip of the bat instead of the middle.
Edit: Also, don't forget that as long as you start your final wind-up before the clock hits zero, you can technically hit the bag a second after you run out of time. That extra second helps.
Improving, getting those character unlocks (though just completed classic at difficulty 3.0 and didn't unlock anything? Thought that was one?).
Got my bottom handed to be by two master hands? Or whatever the other one is called. When does that appear?
Crazy Hand. Not sure when he appears... 3 or 4, maybe?
Most of the Classic unlocks are character-specific. One challenge (not for character unlocks) is for beating Classic with every character at 7 or above. Don't worry, you'll get there. Though the last boss fight might change a little bit more...
I have about 7 challenges left. The one I'm currently having a hard time with is beating All-Star on Hard with Duck Hunt. I wish there were tips or advice on how to get that one easier, but I feel like it's one that I have to just man up and become a better Duck Hunt Player. With that said though, if any of you have tips for it I'm all ears. My current strategy is spamming his clay pigeon move, and then doing side smash or dash attack to kill.

I'm actually trying that one right now myself. I'm doing a combo of dash attacks (to give me room) and spamming side smash. The side smash has crazy range and most characters won't attack you until they're well within it, but it leaves you wiiiiide open to attacks from behind.

Why I fear the ocean.
GGs. I had fun. Laughed out loud twice during the Peach Vs Ike
Which parts? I thought it was funny when I back-aired you in the middle of your taunt.
That 26% KO on Delfino Plaza just with Captain Falcon's simple jabbing combo was bizarre, though.
So was basically the entirety of 75m.
And the fact that you managed to hit me with 3 Warlock Punches... as Kirby. My Ganondorf game is probably the only thing slow enough to take that.
Yeah, the middle of my taunt kill was what me laugh the most. And those damn arches. I wondered why the map was banned for tourneys. Now I know.
I was so psyched to get that counter as Peach. I knew that was my one for the match.
75m is a very cool idea for a stage that is very clearly nothing more than a cool idea.
