THEY HAVE A ZERO MII OUTFIT?!?!?!?!?!
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Decided to forego getting the patch for now. I have a replay from a tournament i ran last weekend where 2 guys hit the sand bag over 7k feet in co-op home run contest. want to record that and any other replays i might have before they get delete
How do tournies choose opponents? If you could set up the tourney so that everyone fights everyone else once, and then tally the victor based on total wins, that might be a nice way to do a tournament, if you wanted to go round Robin instead of elimination.
ill buy the costumes on my main wiiu, along with all the stages. But I'll probably stick to just the stage that are going to possibly be legal for my second wiiu
So do we know if there is a way to do a normal bracket (1v1) with the online tournament stuff? I saw a couple streamers playing with it last night, but I think they didn't do something right, because they ended up in a ffa

I really hope that they will be supporting it for a while still.
I've been loving the new characters/stages/mii outfits and such.
Ryu has become one of my favorite characters to play.
I think the closest he's ever gotten to saying something like that is "We won't be able to work on the game forever; the team is made of people from a number of different development houses and we have to split up eventually". Anything else has gone through the mistranslation-hearsay-Reddit outrage machine and come out as something completely unrelated to anything Sakurai might actually have said.
Ninja edit: Like seriously, I am a hair's breadth of swearing off discussion of Smash Brothers on the Internet entirely because people seem so damned determined to take everything the worst possible way. (Unrelated to this particular instance, mind. Just... frustration that's built up over a while.)

---In the future, do you plan on adjusting or balancing the game further through a patch?
Sakurai: We don't have any such plans, but at the very least we will be working on a few things connected to the online play experience, bit by bit.
If we were to do something like tweak characters' customized special moves, then there'd be no end to it. But with that said, if there are any glaring issues, we may address them.
Obviously that changed if the amount of tweaks being reported are accurate.

Like I said... a mistranslation. Check out the top comment on that same article here:
After reading the Japanese article I get a different impression than "no more balance patches for the rest of Smash 4, I assure you!" The tone about patches sounds more loose.
The phrase Sakurai uses is 予定は立てていません (haven't made plans regarding future balance patches. Not "we won't").
Plus online-related stuff could include For Glory balance. And also with Mewtwo down the road, I'm sure they will at least be monitoring him once he's released. So I wouldn't worry about it.
Basically, they've just released 1.0.4 at the time of the interview, and the interviewer says "Are you going to do further balance patches?" Sakurai responds "Eh, we're not thinking about that yet". Because they just released a balance patch! They don't have any idea what needs to happen yet, if anything!
Then EventHubs takes that and turns it into "Sakurai proclaims no more balance patches for Smash 4 ever", and I'll bite my tongue on my opinion of them for that.

Just watching a quick video look at the mode, it seems more like Mario Kart 8's tournaments.

This has been brought up before (both here and elsewhere), but what do people think of the idea that the next Smash Bros not be a full sequel, but instead an up-port of Smash for Wii U to the NX? Basically be called Super Smash Bros for Nintendo NX and out within the first year of the system's life.
It would have the following features:
Everything from Smash Wii U, with all of the current DLC characters and stages included on the disc.
Ports of all the 3DS stages that aren't already in the Wii U version.
New custom moves for the current DLC characters.
A couple new characters and stages.
A port of Smash Run, using split screen on the console. Maybe actually have players be able to interact with each other, like in City Trial.
Both 3DS and Wii U versions of Classic mode.
A new Adventure mode. (Not a requirement, but it would be cool)
Not being beholden to the 3DS version, they could add the Ice Climbers back in. In addition, depending on how much more powerful the NX is from the Wii U, they could get a lot more stages working for 8 player Smash.
I can't speak to the actual probability of it happening, but if I were in control of the project I would definitely be looking toward "Smash as a service" and starting each major revision from the preceding one's codebase. The cast is just getting too damn big to reimplement from scratch each time. (Though certain characters like Samus and Ganondorf could probably do with a full overhaul.)

I like Samus how she is, but I wish Sakurai realized she has more attacks than just her Charge Shot and didn't just balance her around that.
To elaborate: now that we have Mega Man, there's a proof-of-concept for a character who has projectiles for their A-moves. And that strikes me as making hells of more sense for Samus than the heavily melee-oriented moves she has now. So do what they did with Mega Man-- make the jabs basic shots, put the Wave Beam on her tilts, make her smashes into Charge Shots, move the missiles into neutral B, and put Speed Boost/Spineshark on her side-B and I'd be just delighted.
If you really need to keep the bashy/smashy moveset, move it onto the SA-X. Or Dark Samus. Whatever you prefer.

I bet this might happen in the next Smash game if/when Nintendo no longer has permission to use Mega Man

Nintendo could probably keep using Mega Man for the next 5 Smash Bros games before Capcom even noticed.
The best/worst part of that is that Mii Gunner cribs from her moveset and has only 1 of those issues.

@Enlong, I wish there was a way to send that video directly to Sakurai. Ugh...
What's weird is that characters with a similar schtick, like Robin and Mii Gunner, seem to make it out of these balance patches in much better shape. Man, I wish that Samus's missiles could actually kill again. That's was one of the worst changes after Melee.
and yeah, I agree. It's just depressing that the best way to play as Samus is to make a Mii Gunner with Samus's specials and the Samus outfit.
I made a Bayonetta Mii as a Mii gunner with her armor in reference to the Nintendo costumes in the Wii U remake, but now it just seems too close to home.

Sorry, wrong "E" name from posters in this thread. All it would have taken was to glance up higher, but apparently I'm too lazy for that.

But can Metroid?
Either fake or coming in the next set.

The Protoman, X, and Zero mii outfits are really good (and I like the gunner and swordfighter movesets personally, so it was no brainer)
Damn that Black Knight mii costume is both incredibly awesome and totally hilarious at the same time. I love it!
I'm definitely getting some use out of mii fighters after all these costumes released. Well the mii swordfighter at least!
