Man, I wish there were an easy way to edit fade-touched onyx and obsidian into my inventory. I'm fine farming Sulevin for schematics, but trying to get fade-touched materials is just boring.

Yeah, frankly, I save scum my fade touched stuff. I don't need a ton of it generally, so I just find a regular spawn of whatever, and just save/reload until I got a fade touched. It sucks, and it's boring, but it usually only takes 5-10 minutes to get the part I need.

Once you've got the deft-hands perk, there's a fade-touched obsidian in a chest you can loot repeatedly. Redcliffe Village, the locked door farther north. Just loot the fade-touched and leave the other stuff in there, then it'll respawn again later.
Yep, pretty much waiting for the Emporium to drop before I do anything else with this game.
If for no other reason than to swap hairstyles. Not that the other hairs are notably better, but at least I could pick an option where there's less of it (something I never otherwise do in games, actually).
Any word on expected release, or does it just depend on bugs found in the beta?

To me, DA2 was just flat out better then DA1; better characters, more nuanced conflict, better class balance, better combat (Note: I was playing on the 360 as opposed to PC) and more interesting weapons/armor from an artistic standpoint.
Man, almost everything about this is completely the opposite of my opinions. To me, DA2 is just flat out worse than DA1. Worse characters, limited player reaction, combat so bad it made the classes worse, boring and pointless conflict that gave me no incentive to participate in any of it.
The more artistic armor and weapons is pretty much the only thing better in DA2.
I liked DA1 more than DA2 but both are still better than DAI.

I thought the later scheduling for Inquisition DLC was kinda odd since habitually BioWare seemed to use Day One DLC as a method of getting out the content that they couldn't fit into the base game before launch (certification?). I'm personally fine with whenever DLC shows up though, because content is content - whatever people think about "money-grubbing" or whatever shit people opine about without context, it's content that probably wouldn't have ever been made without such a distribution method.

Plus, I've never been disappointed with BioWare DLC (not to mention they've been the source of some of the best DLC I've ever seen in games ever)

Yeah, Bioware DLC seems to be what DLC should be (completely new adventures, akin to expansion packs/mission packs of old). Even the weapon packs from ME2/3 were fun and I purchased damn near everything there.
Still kinda wish (after learning about it) that DA2 kept its original title of Dragon Age: Exodus.
(Also I can't read "Thedas" without seeing it as "The DAS" or "The Dragon Age Setting")

BW seems to be employing a whole different patch/DLC methodology for DA:I. Traditionally, they've been wretched with respect to patching/bugfixing. DA:O and DA2 were both patched at a much slower pace than DA:I, and even after four or five patches apiece, they still have some pretty horrible bugs remaining (which is very disappointing, given that they're both still being sold new).
So the fact DA:I is getting fixed early and often with no DLC in sight seems like better karma, even if it's only marketing. No widespread nerd rage resulting from Day 1 DLC has been nice, the bug fixes have been nicer, and the Black Emporium and 1P auto-attack will be the nicest. And then when it comes time for them to sell some DLC, players who have stuck with the game will probably feel a lot better about giving BW more of their money.
SP is getting patched as fast/faster than ME3's, and they've been pretty great so far: Hawke voice fix, increased banter, radar ping shows up on map, storage chest, Black Emporium. In addition to all the small stuff, those are some quality of life improvements.
ME3's weekly balance changes (are they gonna nerf the GPS todaaaay!?) were really nice, though. The bigger bugs had to wait for patches to get fixed, but little variable bugs and balance adjustments did a lot to keep the multi thriving. Also, the multi DLC adding maps/weapons/characters came at a nice clip.
Wait what? The ME3 MP was patched like, an order of magnitude more often than this, and started off in a much less buggy state to begin with
I was referring SP patches for DA:I vs. DA:O and DA2 SP patches. But according to this, ME3 was only patched 5 times. What SoundsPlush said seems right to me: BW tweaked ME3 MP balance issues on the server side a lot more often than they patched the client/SP game.
Apparently, they aren't doing the same thing for DAMP, which is kind of lame. I hope they start soon. That being said, they're patching the main DA:I game faster and more often than they did any of their previous titles.
Ah, point. They never did fix that hotbar CTD bug in ME2

Actually DA2 did receive quite a few patches in the first few months. Just that once they moved on to Inquisition they left most of the other bugs as is.

The problem is that all software contains an infinite amount of bugs. Or maybe the problem is that people don't like subscription fees for non-MMOs. That's the one nice thing about free to play games.

I must have missed the part where DA2 had a subscription fee.
Makes sense that they patch the SP a lot given the teething troubles with Frostbite. The other titles were still unreal.

So I just wrapped up What Pride Hath Wrought and I guess it's the home stretch now. How bad should I feel that I haven't set foot in the Emerald Graves or the Emprises du Lion?

Not bad at all. There is ... basically too much content for one play.

There's some good story things in there, and the highest level crafting materials are there. It depends on how important the side story and crafting are to you.

Ok, cool. I keep a save available in case the finale kicks my butt. Otherwise I'll have some new and exciting stuff for playthrough 2.

Ehhh ME3mp was still pretty buggy. Banshees stuck in the ceiling, the Kroguard Valhalla Ascension. Rage not triggering properly. And I'm not a number cruncher but people are saying some skill still don't properly calculate.

Well I think people are confusing balance changes with bug fixes.
ME3MP had a lot of the former(which I think kept it fresh) but it still had its fair share of the latter.

Oh I'm not saying the contrary.
But the Banshee ceiling thing made matches unplayable. And the kroguard ascension took one player completely out for the rest of the match. I played it almost exclusively for like six months, and they fixed these eventually but it definitely had its problems starting out.
I seem to remember something buggy with the matchmaking too but I can't put my finger on it.

My thought process was that sales of single player games start trailing off, so developers don't have monetary incentive to maintain them instead of working on new stuff. Unlike games with subs and games with micro-transactions.
Also the bars had no bearing on any numbers within the game.
I don't think those bars ever updated with balance changes, either, so they started out nigh-useless as someone's approximation of stats and then managed to get even worse.

Great, now I can't unsee that.
That's where it came from.
I don't doubt that. But hadn't seen it before... and so now I can't help but think of it as The DAS. heh
