A smuggling game where you have to bribe and blackmail to get your contraband out of one location and into another. You can recruit specialists for forgery, disguise and intelligence gathering to form a roster where you are the mastermind.
Buyers will try to screw you over or kill you, but you can prevent that by holding the cargo hostage or swapping it out with fake contraband.
Oh, and your team will try and double-cross you.

I also want another Stuntman game. I fucking love those dumb ass games.
This is the lead dev of No Man's Sky talking about the technology they're using and the approach to the game and stuff. Really interesting interview.
Also, one of my dream games is actually coming to fruition! A small Polish studio called Warhorse is making a game called Kingdom Come: Deliverance and it's a realistic medieval European rpg, open world, with all sorts of stuff going on. It looks fantastic! Can't wait to see what they do with it.
Also, Star Citizen is coming out soon and that's another space sim that just looks SHITHOT but it's more combat oriented.

I just realized that all three of the games in my previous post were at least partially funded by Kickstarter.
It seems like KS is a good way to get BEST GAME EVER OMG type ideas actually funded.

Wait, how soon is "soon" and how finished is "coming out"?
A tactical RPG with mmo-style boss mechanics, loosely based on the so called "holy trinity" of tank/dps/healer
so kinda like xcom with raid bosses and some way to manage threat that doesn't also make the tank class boring
Then tile/hex positioning would be pretty important. Don't stand in the fire, keep the dragon facing away from the party, be ready to crowd control adds, etc.

I realize that linking to a wiki article seems super passive aggressive and shitty but I actually don't know a terrific amount about Star Citizen and I feel like you'd get better info from something that isn't me just going AW MAN IT'S GONNA BE SO RAD.
What I do know is that it's from the guy who did the old Wing Commander games.

I want to start a studio that just makes 16bit, sprite based, old school JRPG's.
I want a mech combat game that lets you design your own mech out of parts, sort of like the vehicle and building construction in Spore (no limitations on where parts can go, just placing them freely in a 3D space). Place the parts on pre-made skeletons to make it really easy to program. The various parts used determine the abilities and stats of the mech and its weapons.
Also I want an MMO to finally come out that accepts player-made equipment into the game, like the Steam Workshop and SOE Player Studio. Fortunately I think Everquest Next and Landmark will do that. I value customization and player-expression very highly in multiplayer games.

I usually write game design documents in my head as an alternative to counting sheep. Here are a few:
A Legend Of Zelda game where you play as Dark Link and have to go on a quest to take over various kingdoms thus setting up one of the many Links.
A sequel to Arkham City where Scarecrow releases fear gas and it's basically like the last act of Batman Begins. I thought out a lot of the story and gameplay beats on this one before Arkham Knight was announced.
A sequel to Super Monday Night Combat that's actually polished and released in a complete state titled "Uber Monday Night Combat".
A clone of Tetris Battle Gaiden featuring indie game characters that you unlock through your Steam/PSN/XBLA library Monster Rancher style. Cross-platform multiplayer.
Windjammers but remade in UDK. Why aren't you doing this right now? Why are you trying to sleep when you can be making that right now? What's wrong with you? Go get that Windjammers money.
A Kamen Rider game, in English, in which I can design my own character from the ground up, selecting appearance and moveset (from a bank of options, of course), ideally with a robust system for designing my own Rider Kick (or Punch, or what have you).
A Batman game. That's not actually a Batman game. But totally is.
*snip*
I get a Phantasm vibe from this. I'd play it.
For a "no skyboxes" space exploration game, check out rodina. Not really graphically comparable to No Man's Sky, but it has the bonus of being playable now.
for my part, I often wish for a remake of Alien Legacy.
Someone needs to overhaul Advent Rising, and then make the sequels.
I'm sure there are another dozen or so, but I'm drawing a blank.

This is one that's been demanded so loudly, for so long, by so many people, and seems like such an obvious conceptual slam dunk, that I can only assume Nintendo is holding back because of internal predictions that it would destroy the global economy.
Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan
I'm just waiting for HMD VR adventure games. I want to explore interesting places and solve puzzles and talk to characters who are annoyed that I broke all their stuff to solve a puzzle. There's a couple of these in production right now, but for the most part they go the Myst route and don't have other people in them. Dialog trees, inventory puzzles, and VR. Directed by Tim Schafer, if you could. Cool, thanks.
Also I guess the more brutal, kid-unfriendly behavior patterns of online PvP are mitigated a bit when you're within gameboy link range of your opponent... maybe Nintendo has the right idea. Doesn't stop me from wanting it, though!

nintendo's only very recently started making acceptably competent online components for their games

They stopped the Nintendo SpotPass feature of Swapnote nearly instantly after it was supposedly used by child molesters. I am not sure if that was actually the case, merely pointing out that Nintendo is very quick to respond to a non family friendly view of their products. Can you imagine the flood of fetid shit that would pour out into the hearts and minds of children in a Pokémon MMO? It would be a case study in how to ruin your family friendly image.
Vagrant Story is literally the only game I can think of where having new and more powerful abilities in a prequel makes sense. I would spend so much money on a new game be it a reboot, prequel, or sequel. A sequel could be set post Lea Monde where Ashley is learning to control the power given to him by the blood sin. Fighting to try and wrest power away from the corrupt leadership of the Riskbreakers. Or a prequel where we get to see him slowly crack under the guilt of what he has done until he finally breaks.
Phantom Dust is supposedly getting either a reboot, remake, or something in between on the Xbox One. If it retains the same combat and play style it will sell me a console. But a new game with gigantic open levels, 8-12 person multiplayer battles, and destructible environments, even more characters to choose from, and a more comprehensive story is a dream of mine. Seriously Phantom Dust was incredibly underrated given what it managed to do on the original Xbox.

Seriously though, Shipwreckers! but new and basically a cross between the original game and the piratey stuff in AssCrow: Black Flag and some RPG stuff mixed in there with a decent single player campaign and also online MMO stuff including a co-op campaign and PvE/PvP battles.
Right now I want some sort of mod/hardware for GTAV where I can control the mountain bikes in first person mode by riding my stationary bicycle. It would really help keep me from getting bored cycling indoors during the winters. Maybe add some simple racing/checkpoint rides... multiplayer...

ummmmm
an HD rerelease of Okami using the Wiimote Plus controls
Also an MMO where you can level up doing things other than combat in a way that is interesting and challenging (eg. puzzle-based).
ArcheAge may have that second one covered, I dunno.
Just do all the flips, and steal all the cash moneys.
