My contract for my iPhone 4S expires in Sept 2015 and as long as the battery is still decent I plan to keep my iPhone 4S and not have a contract. I can't think of a thing I want my iPhone to do that it doesn't.
do NOT do this unless you have a plan that is free of the hidden subsidy cost.
Every month you will be paying for the upgrade you never took otherwise.
If you are still happy with your 4s, maybe switch to a contract-free carrier/plan that will get your monthly bill in the 35-50 a month range.

I am an employee of a company that is owned by Bell, so my contract is $40 a month.

I mean, as long as my monthly cost is the same or less, I'll do it. If it goes up, Bell will get a WTF from me.

Like, when I see people with an iPad, a windows laptop and an android phone I just kind of O_o because they are basically three distant islands compared to the connected world my macs and iDevices live in.
I have an iPad and Macbook Air and the uniformity is great.
My PC is still the most used, but now I want a Time Machine router with the 3TB drive.
Because I game on the xbox, I almost never ever go into windows unless I have to test stuff on windows browsers.
And maybe 1-2 times a year I will play a game there that doesn't have a mac version or an xbox port.
My use probably goes iPhone > iPad > iMac > MacBook Air > Windows on iMac.

they can't not have a manufacturer-specific UI, but touchwiz is awful. there is something very "engineering by committee"ish in trying to push reactions to direction/eye position sensors as a USP
Mostly because of the granular app permission control. Winphone has a general "stop apps doing stuff in the background" setting, but you can't block a particular app from accessing a particular thing like cyanogen allows

But just keep in mind that the 4s is on its very last legs as a device. Starting later next year it will not see an OS update or security patches.
Not bad considering it will have been on market for 4 years by then, but still something to remember.

Oh, my Xbox falls between the iMac and the MacBook air for me, and probably the absolute top of the list for the household since summer uses it every single day for hours for media consumption.

I should root my phone and put cyanogen on it, probably.
It's depressing that they're universally better than android distros that people are paid to make.

My PC use is probably double all other devices combined. :P The Apple products I own are total and complete luxuries that were probably way more expensive than they're worth to me.

That said, I knocked my Aperture Laboratories laptop bag off my desk, and so my Macbook Air and iPad fell to the floor and I was totally unconcerned. I knew they'd be fine.
If I'd dropped the Dell laptop that I had 10 years ago, it would have probably shattered like glass.

I probably use my Windows desktop 70% of the time and my phone 25%, with the other 5% divided between my consoles
I have esteem for iOS, but I've never liked any iteration of OS X primarily because I like having my taskbar on the bottom, a start button in the bottom left corner, and nothing else will do
Even most of the Linux distros I used bugged me with the double taskbar layout I used but it seemed better than anything else so I didn't fuss too much
But yeah the Finder bar on top and the dock on the bottom just looks ugly as hell to me, particularly the way the dock doesn't stretch perfectly all the way from left to right
I'm sure you can actually set this up to my tastes but anyone whose Mac I've tried using has it set mostly in the default manner, obviously including demo set-ups, and I always just kind of turn my nose up at it like a dog smelling citrus
I'm basically super picky about my computer layout and Windows gets closest to my tastes in the default settings while also being the OS that supports basically all software and games I would want

You are carrying:
(glowing)(humming) a smartphone
a Gaston Glock "third generation" Glock 17
a strawberry jolly rancher
emotional baggage
okay yeah, you are fine. Highly unlikely moving around will net you any benefit.
