back when I was in university in Illinois I constantly - constantly - looked for the shortest path to get from A to B. It became almost a game, in terms of measuring how much I was able to stay on the paved paths and still be efficient

I found that kind of thing pretty interesting in college when I saw them, especially when they weren't purely straight. The dorms were downhill from the campus, and there was only one paved path up to it, so people who were in dorms closer to the grassy hill would just walk up it. There was a big area with fairly tall grass that didn't get mowed (with groundhog holes) and then the cut grass, and I thought it was interesting how there was a well trod path that wasn't really straight at all, so after awhile people just started walking in the path even though it wasn't straight. At the time it made me think of a windy deer trail or something similar.

My brain is kinda nuts about efficiency, especially as regards movement.

Because of this I realize starting to create a desire trail from my car to my front door across the lawn. I'm not sure if I should keep doing it or stop or what
I'll have to get some pictures of the country version of this; badgers use the same trails for years on end so in some cases can make quite defined paths.
@Liiya the stuff you post on your tumblr is so relaxing to look at
oh good!! I like to find spaces/concepts that people enjoy to put into work so when I imagine myself in that space I find it relaxing. I'd probably struggle to design something exciting !
You will be all glad to know I diagrammed the desire lines in my site today and have decided to use them in my design as how the site should be divided.

Livestock (cattle, sheep, horses) all do the same and wear deep ruts in the ground after a while.
Interestingly we found that when we used to have Friesians grazing they just went haphazardly everywhere and didn't leave any trails, but when he had Dexters for a year they went round in a line following the same route each day and wore a path quite quickly. We've got horses now and rather than do anything as tidy as leave a path they just run about like maniacs and leave a paddled mess in the part they use to slow down. Some of them anyway, others are quite calm and civilised.

We saw it happen with deer in the woods where I grew up
There were the officially blazed trails, and then also the deer trails
Sometimes people would get lost by accidentally turning onto a deer trail
I actually memorized a ton of the deer trails along with the regular trails, because sometimes they were useful for me, and I know other people would use them too
And when my dad would have to blaze a new trail, we'd occasionally use the deer trails as a guide (which ended up causing new deer trails to form)

At my local zoo the cheatah pens are right next to the boar pens with only a double set of chainlink fence separating them. There is a very distinct rut along the entire side of the cheatah enclosure.
On the boar side, the grass has never been eaten.

Guys, I want a snack and my options is more tuna (this is awesome), or a fluffernutter (equally awesome). Which do I choose?

Both.
Just in a big bowl, stir it all together.

This is so crazy that it might just work!
Milk, iced tea, gatorade, and gratuitous amounts of beer and wine.
You are mixing up fluffernutter and flufferbutter which is.... [REDACTED FOR BEING TOO GROSS]
That wasn't helpful, huh?
All.
Four.
BIG BOWL.
Yeah that basically puts me back at square one. :c
The tuna is StarKist, the peanut butter is Jiff and the fluff is the real stuff!
I'm just imagining marshmallow cream slowly oozing out of a cock
It's the bittersweet treat you love!
Hold on, if the marshmallow creme comes from the cock, were does the peanut butter come from?
...wait, on second thought I don't want to know.
