I could not even guess what Pepsi or Coke taste like
You don't have to guess!
They're readily available at major retailers everywhere
I suggest finding a place that sells the Pepsi made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup
Theyyyy taste the same. HFCS is just cheaper.
They taste a bit different, but not a ton. Mouth feel is a little different, HFCS is stickier. But yeah it is not huge stuff.
I used to love coke, there was a point where I drank one a day on average.
Then I fell out of the habit, moving to Japan broke a lot of habits just via sheer upheaval.
Last time I tried one it was just so sickeningly sweet that I put it down after a few sips, it's really amazing how much you get used to having or not having certain flavors.
this is like when someone at a party goes oh yeah, tv? I dunno, never really watched it, I don't even have one in my house! Isn't Cheers a show, or something?

no mexican coke tastes better I don't care if it's just a placebo effect or whatever I still feel a different mouthfeel
It is totally just a placebo effect or whatever.
it absolutely is not! I have done blind taste tests with myself and chosen the hfcs one every time. I went to england (where they use real sugar as well) and drinking dr. peppers there was a revelation, and I looked like an idiot because I said to my friend "what is the deal why does the coke even taste better over here"

and everyone else is like ugh cool dude, cool
I don't get traditional TV in my place
but I do have three TVs and the internet because that's the only media that matters
I found out that there was actual science behind the fact that McDonald's Coke tastes better than other Coke and felt justified.
Apparently they sell so much Coke that their syrup never has the chance to be anything other than fresh, and McDonald's has pretty stringent water purity standards, which are the two controllable factors someone could have over Coke.

Is there a similar thing with taco bell and mountain dew?
She also just pours the straight brown gravy powder onto meats
Apparently in The South they just plain don't put cheese on pizza unless you ask for it and some places just don't even offer it.
Are you talking about the Southern US? Because this isn't true
Someone on the Cracked podcast had a story about that (it was regarding unspoken cultural differences you don't expect)... I think it was after they moved to Tennessee?

That seems like less of a "The South" thing and more of a one weird pizza shop/town thing

In fact that is what they are best known for

I know a handful of Mormons who have never tried soda
and everyone else is like ugh cool dude, cool
to be fair
could not have chosen a finer mainstream root beer.
ah you mean
"a root beer"
well sure, it's literally against their religion.
Falsssssse
I like both but given the choice will definitely take the sugar, it has a lighter taste to it, it's not as "syrupy"
It is totally just a placebo effect or whatever.
i can drink real sugar pepsi. hfcs pepsi is awful. coke is fine with hfcs but with real sugar it's great.
Oh you don't even know
I've had like 3 hamburgers in my entire life and I haven't liked any of them so I just don't have those
I can tell the taste even without knowing which one it is
My mom bought the real sugar Pepsi when I visited home once, got me a glass of it without
me seeing the can and it had a slightly different taste

is the one way to end that delightful anecdote
Just sauce bread and pepperoni

mountain dew is basically spit in a cup, but if you try the throwback one it is entirely different and actually great.
Nobody would even conceive of that
I refuse to believe this
I mean I live in Oklahoma which is like the midwest/South's bastard child but that is crazy talk to me
say what
as a native Georgian, this is crazy talk
Is there a similar thing with taco bell and mountain dew?
yeah that is the weirdest thing I have ever heard.
Hawaiians don't even know what red ketchup is
Everything else is hot and baked and then they put cold cheese on top
For some reason everyone in that small town fuckin loves it
Someone on the Cracked podcast had a story about that (it was regarding unspoken cultural differences you don't expect)... I think it was after they moved to Tennessee?
West Virginia is a whole other fucking thing
Nothing there makes any sense
It is basically heaven.
God I miss Johnny's
