Actually, the thing about unspoiled nodes, is the stuff on them is in the same position every time.
So you can just use a node tracking app or webpage, and only hit the row you want. Once you get your gathering up, it only takes one hit to clear.
Well, mostly. There are a couple items that aren't in static positions (waterfowl feather and bamboo are examples of that), but there's guides that tell you which nodes have something like that.
After 2.5 failed attempts at getting a G8 chocobo (first was crap, second was absolute worst rolls, third didn't even get bred), I decided to chuck my G6 and G7 together in the hopes it would get me something decent. Maybe something around 15-16 total st-
hey so I got heavensword off GMG and I can't download it obviously since it's not out, but my FF14 was also off GMG but it wasn't a steam code like they usually give you, I forgot what the code it was for exactly maybe the SE site. I assume the same thing will happen with heavensword? because that would be annoying if they give me a steam code when my FF14 is not a steam game.
I think that's the pre order code they give you for early access. You have to go to the heavensward site and go to the pre order page to enter it. THEN it will give you another code to use when Heavensward early access pops up sometime in June.
Question: is there a way to get another materia assembler? I seem to have accidentally sold or discarded mine.
i think it just turns into the skill? can you convert things into materia?
Nope. When I enter the submenu, there's no 'Convert' command, even for gear that's convertable with 100% spirit bond.
OK...time to check to see if you have the conversion skill in your skill/trait menu.
Just checked, and it's not there.
Is the abilty given after the Life, Materia, and Everything quest, or after a certain number of levels in a Deciples of Hand class? Because I can view the cutscene that's shown after the former in an inn, so I have confirmation that I completed it.

From GMG's page for Heavensward (both regular and CE):
Please note: The registration code included in this version is not compatible with the Steam version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. To play on Steam, please buy the Steam version of the game once it becomes available.
Quick question re: me likely messing up some etiquette: I was in Western Thanalan leveling up my Conjurer class through guildleves and FATEs. I joined in a FATE, and there were two other people there. Apparently, they kept writing "Inv please." I didn't notice it until after the FATE was done, and I had teleported away to do something else. Did they want me to invite them for the FATE? If so, why? Or was it something else?
PSN/XBL/Nintendo/Origin/Steam: Nightslyr 3DS: 1607-1682-2948 Switch: SW-3515-0057-3813 FF XIV: Q'vehn Tia
@Nightslyr its hard to know what without full context. People don't generally team up for fates unless they're doing a fate train, but that is likely something they'd do through party finder. If there was a hunt up they might have been requesting an invite for that. Were they shouting the inv request or was it in /s?
The only real ettiquette you might want to heed for fates is when someone calls out in /sh to 'hold' a fate. If that happens, its usually a relic book fate or a daily hunt mark fate they're trying to get to. If you can, its polite to stop completing the fate and to give them time to acquire some completion status within the fate before you continue to do so yourself. Of course, you don't 'have' to but its nice. Also, some fates (like the protection ones) are very hard to stop progress on. And sometimes you just aren't looking at chat when you're in the middle of things.
“There are no happy endings, because nothing ends.” ... also, "Ah, turn blue!"

Victory lap is great term for that stretch of the relic. The light phases aren't very long and come from so many sources you can almost get the mahatma doing anything. Even though there are the varying degrees of brightness and all, its just nice knowing reasonably well what to expect from your time investment. That was the part that bugged me about the zodiac bit with the dungeon drops. You just never knew if you were going to get three drops this night of gaming, or go 9 days running 70+ dungeons resulting in no drops lol.
Now to decide if I want to casually work on that sweet bow or those cool daggers while waiting on the expansion to come out....
And here's me wondering if/when I'll sit down to do the Atma grind.
We seem to be remarkable close in where we are at in the game. I hit 50 a 5 days ago.
I did my first Labyrinth and ST today and got cut out of ST final boss. I stood at the entrance and did /harvestdance which looks a lot like cheerleading.
I just finished story 2.0 as well. That Moogle King final phase start is pretty great.
Also could it be true, no more trips to Waking Sands?!
After the story versions of Mog/Levi/Shiva, hitting the Chrysalis is basically face first into a brick wall.
What? An attack that *requires* you to be constantly healing the tank instead of turning on cleric stance and being an idiot like you have through every other story fight? Blasphemy!
And if the party manages to not lose it's shit through the very first cast of Triple, plenty of time to screw up on the orbs or use up the LB for no good reason.
Basically they let 99% of the playerbase get really sloppy up to that fight. And then "lolnope".
I remember Mog and Ramuh being a bit of a wall until people overgeared them. People can still screw them up by forgetting to get the right number of adds down.
One issue we run into in my FC with stuff like extremes: We have a LOT of casual/F&F folks that got (frankly) carried through the encounters once or twice... Combine that with half of our static folks being raid loggers, so if someone wants to run one for some reason half the freaking group has no clue how to mechanics. Then if I don't volunteer to go, I'm the jerk for not helping.
Don't get me wrong, there are several people that WANT to learn the mechanics, I'll run with them all day. But the one that are like "I don't want this in my quest log anymore can someone run me through it?" Ugh.
That reminds me that I need to get some help for Garuda EX at some point. The one time I tried there were other newbies with me who, uh, let's say had not done their homework and didn't learn as quickly.
I only need one more pony for Kirin but I think Ramuh is sucking the life out of me - 106 runs, 9 ponies, 0 rolls where I even thought I had a chance (highest was 46 so far and 5 of them were sub 10 rolls).

The problem (speaking as a new guy) is that you kind of have to get carried in order to get to the stuff that everybody's actually doing. Like, I don't ever see people doing T5 or Garuda EX because they actually like doing those, but you need to do them to get to T9+/other primals. So you get one or two new guys on a team of people who learned it all ages ago and are now overgeared by about 40 levels, and you're basically carried whether you were planning on it or not.
My duty list is absolutely filled with things I've only done once or maybe twice. The only stuff I've actually been to enough to learn anything is the 15-20 dungeons and the Tower stuff.
The crafted items for the 4 quests to get the materials for the Zodiac are tradable. You can buy the materials off of the market board and find a crafter to make them.
From my new guy perspective, I'm looking to do as much content as possible before the expansion. So that includes doing the unpopular dungeons/trials exactly once probably.
I do try to read up if I understand that it's tough, but larger groups have little patience for that and it's hard to learn a dozen new fights in a week.
I'm hoping that newbie bonus is enough of an incentive to get people to to go.
At least I'm at the point now where my gear isn't much of the problem. Average of ilvl96, held down by 1 crappy ring. About to buy the ilvl 100 weapon with tomestone and then run ST until I can take it to 110.
The thing I dislike most so far is how many dungeons are in Roulette High Level, and that you need to do all of them AND get past story 2.4 before it unlocks because snowcloak is part of the list. I'm only at 2.1 and feel I put quite some time into it, a year+ of story is hard to catch up to. It really limits poetics access too.
I did have my first absolute disaster yesterday, Ultima HM. 4 people new to the fight, including a tank that must've been right at the gear treshhold. But the other people were just as much to blame, as they handled all phases terribly. Ifrit was a slaughter even though you get ~10 seconds to dodge it, and from the 4th wipe on I was calling its spawn. It was vote abandoned after the 8th wipe, 50mins in.

-aHOLY SHIT.
Also there's some gear that can't be converted period. the tooltip will say "convertible: yes" if you can

And I got locked out of the final boss chamber because I was watching the boss-unlocked cutscene! Boo!
At least ST and WoD only need 3 tanks, so they pop at a reasonable rate.
It seems the reason is that they didn't like the title of my submission. I wouldn't know for sure since they didn't communicate in any way.

Now I just gotta drag myself to finish three combat classes and my zeta and I'm all set for expac!

What's the difference between a shout and yell, anyway? IIRC, in WoW there's only yelling, and it fills the zone chat.

It's mostly that people are expecting to go in blind and faceroll it. And then quit after the first wipe.
Mostly because storymode mog/ramuh/levi right now you pretty much can do just that. Go in, roll face across keyboard, complain the loot sucks.
Don't get me wrong, there are several people that WANT to learn the mechanics, I'll run with them all day. But the one that are like "I don't want this in my quest log anymore can someone run me through it?" Ugh.
The worst mechanic of the fight is the dot getting extended in the Nega Zone if you don't run away from the portal until it wears off.
And by god, the Sycrus Tower looks so good.
Oh, I did my first Sycrus Tower run, by the way.
And I got 2 pieces of Healer gear. Scylla's Robes of Healing look horrendous. A motivator for me getting stuff for Glamour.

After begging the fc to help out. If anyone ever complains I should be familiar with a mechanic introduced there I will be sad.
Each quest requires two HQ items.
