Oh god, I just got around to reading Winston's post game presser.

"The game could have gone either way" and "We beat ourselves out there." Hahahahahahhahahaha. That kid really does exist in his own infallible world, doesn't he?

That was an epic implosion by Pitt there. So pretty much par for the course. Narduzzi is going to have his hands full.

You have to give some credit to Houston. My dad was going bonkers by the end, since he's a Houston alum. Go Cougars!

I still don't know what that penalty was. Bad job by announcers here.

Not necessarily, it was called right at the theoretical limit of time to get the ball back. Missed it by about 2 seconds.

It was second down with 39 seconds left. There was literally no way for KState to force a punt in that amount of time with the 40 second play clock between plays.

I mean, if you want to play with theoreticals, UCLA could have just run around a bit on a hypothetical 4th down and made the whole thing moot.

The only way you call that timeout is if you're hoping a bad snap happens, and judging from the lineman hurdling over UCLA's offensive line on that 3rd down snap, that seems to be what they were going for, but even then, it's not an attempt to get the ball back.

We watched the Alamo Bowl 6 hours late, and my neighbor almost spoiled it for me by accident (only managing to imply that something ominous would happen), so I was pretty pleasantly surprised when they put the brakes on the failure

I'm on speakerphone with two clients in Ohio as we wait for a fileset to restore. They are talking to each other about the title game with a stunning amount of confidence. Upshot: "We've Already Got This, Yo". I try not to interject to see how far they'll take things.

    "Two scores. Probably three."
    "Yeah, I mean, it's Oregon. They'll fold."
"We would've beat FSU by the same amount."
"It's not like they're Bama. And we just killed Bama."
"I just think the toughest part is already over, y'know?"

    *ten seconds later*

"Hey man, sorry it's taking so long. Where you based at, anyway?"
    "Portland."
    " . . . uh . . . Maine?"
    "Nope. Not Maine."

    *five seconds of nervous chuckling*

    "Well, hey, we--"
"No problem, guys - I mean, they're local, but I don't root for the Ducks. It's all good."
"Ha ha, that's cool, man. Who do you root for?"
    "Michigan."

Two of Oregon's receivers are out due to marijuana testing.

I'll never understand how people can be willing to risk something so big just to get high.

It's because of the disparity in punishments by individual colleges and the NCAA. Oregon's got no punishment until your third positive test, and then it's usually a single game or a half or something. NCAA It's a half season for your first offense (down from a full season as of last March, not that I'm bitter or anything), but they test very rarely.

Oh, there is probably punishment. They probably run the dog shit out of the players popped before it's the third offense.

I don't know. I am going in thinking that Oregon will handle Ohio State and win easily. I also thought Alabama would do the same thing though.

There will be lots of points. I expect Oregon to pull away eventually because of their advantage at QB.

If you can watch espn 3 you can watch the spidercam feed, which honestly I might like better than a normal broadcast.

    I don't even have cable.

Too fucking expensive, and there's nothing on it I really want to watch anyway.

Save for a couple games out of the year now.

  • SageinaRageSageinaRage Registered User regular
espn 3 is their web streaming channel, you can watch it through the espn website (depending on who you have internet with). I don't have cable either, I'm really looking forward to that sling tv thing that was just announced.

I just noticed ESPN is having coverage of the game on all 4 main channels (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNews, and ESPNU).

ESPN of course is the main broadcast, but then ESPN2 has something subtitled "Film Room" (presumably similar to what FOX Sports 1 did once or twice during the MLB Playoffs where they'll have a round table of analysts breaking down the game tape and giving you insight onto why X player did Y thing, I remember FS1's thing being really awesome and way better than listening to Buck and Reynolds)

ESPNews has "Off the Ball" and ESPNU has "ESPN Voices" which I'll probably be avoiding.
