do we want to try to take a few cracks at Crota this evening before it's too late? 6:30 or 7PM EST-ish? i'd like to try before the reset if we can, but i don't want to throw 4 hours at it.
I'm up for putting in more attempts tonight. 7pm or maybe a little later is better for me so I have a chance to eat something after work.
Whenever is fine for me. I'm waiting for the snow to get a little deeper before I head out. You know, for fun.
I can probably go, got some social gathering soon, but you guys are probably on at 0.30AM - 1AM for me... I can stay for a few hours but not much more than that on a normal weekday.
I didnt even have time to run my Hunter through NM Crota this week, I dont know how many of you did it on all your characters already? (Erevar I know you probably did it 5 times... On each character)
Just putting it out there that I'd probably be willing to throw another couple of hours at HM Crota this evening, which... is a far cry from how I felt last night after hours of getting so close. I'm not saying I want to do it (and if a normal group gets together, I'd probably do that, since it's Monday). I will try really hard to make it but the chances of me getting time tonight are VERY low. I may have to run a normal Crota-kill later today when I get home from work.
I still need to get my 32 titan some hard raid gear. I actually got my 31 alts gear first, since it doesn't take a full group to get through the first section. Just one very lucky, camouflage-equipped hunter, running like hell.
Got a ps4 finally and was surprised to see a demo of destiny allowing you to play for 7 levels, so I downloaded it this weekend. I have followed Destiny from afar but decided not to bite at launch so this is my first taste. So far in the demo: The game looks really amazing and I like the gunplay for the most part. Mission structure seems fun and something I could get used to. So, my questions:
Is it a good time to give it a shot if I am mostly a solo player?
Wasn't there a recent patch that made the loot system better?
Is there a lot of content or is it hit soft cap quickly and then do "raids" and pvp for activities? (Not saying that's bad)
My gaming background and current interests: long time WoW and Diablo player (back since beta) Alpha and now beta HotS player. Long time battlefield player back to bad company (not very good but I try).
What seems most intriguing is Destiny gives me the feel of what I imagined Huxley would/could have been.
Just deciding if I should snag a copy....

There was a patch that made the loot system slightly better, but there's still the problem of a very small pool of viable items at end game. Expect to look like everybody else, not that it matters much given it's first person and all. But if you're expecting any of the fully fleshed out QoL things that you'd see in an MMO, expect to be disappointed.
There isn't much content overall, so you'll basically hit soft cap and grind a lot for progression. If you're a long time WoW/Diablo/MMO player then you won't be upset by this, however the pool of stuff to do is just small.
If money within this price range matters to you don't buy the game+season pass outright; you'll arguably be spending most of your time in the vanilla content anyway aside from raids anyway.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Does the cap for vanguard marks seem low for anyone else? I seem to hit the cap just doing SOME of the weekly/daily content, never mind actually doing strike playlist.
Vanguard is just easy to hit, almost trivial if you do public events and dailies every day.

On an unrelated note I'll be up for a Tuesday and Wednesday HM VOG and Normal Crota. I'm one of the 'lucky' people in New England that is getting buried in two feet of snow. So aside from some shoveling I'll have plenty of free time the next two days.

I would be available for HM crota tonight at 9h00pm EST if anyone needs help. Have a 32 warlock who needs it all or have a 31 titan with a check point at crota itself.

In theory, Hard Mode isn't that bad. There is a pretty easy method to take him out.
In practice, its incredibly difficult because of no health regen, heavy ammo issues, random nature of shooters, and oh so many bugs.
I've been fairly lucky to avoid bugs in most of my runs of CE.
Unless you count the Swordbearer deliberately avoiding getting shot a bug, but I don't know if I would.
Atheon always felt more bug-filled then Crota, whereas Crota has always been more about timing.

Why did they get Ogres after the first sword?
Ogres are on a timer based on Crota's position. With only 2 people, it takes a while to clear everything out and set up the run for the first sword.
I wasn't paying full attention to the video, but looked like they got ogres on Crota's trip to the right, rather than to the left when the timer for ogres usually pops.
I just realized, I can't buy any heavy ammo synths. I will have to farm a lot of glimmer (and I plan to max it out) before I get any and attempt Crota.
Dammit.

2 manning the whole crota's end on hard seems a bit over the top to me. hopefully bungie doesn't try to go overboard trying to make it harder

And, as a result of a really good pvp streak, I unlocked past the pvp portion of the exotic shotgun too. No thorn yet, but I'm now 288/500.
