Thelonious Sphere Monk was an American jazz pianist and composer. Monk had a unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including "'Round Midnight," "Blue Monk," "Ruby, My Dear," "In Walked Bud," and "Well, You Needn't". Monk is the second-most recorded jazz composer after Duke Ellington, which is particularly remarkable as Ellington composed more than 1,000 pieces, whereas Monk wrote about 70.
His compositions and improvisations feature dissonances and angular melodic twists, and are consistent with Monk's unorthodox approach to the piano, which combined a highly percussive attack with abrupt, dramatic use of silences and hesitations. This style was not universally appreciated, shown for instance in poet and jazz critic Philip Larkin's dismissal of Monk as "the elephant on the keyboard".
He was renowned for his distinctive style in suits, hats, and sunglasses. He was also noted for an idiosyncratic habit observed at times during performances: while the other musicians in the band continued playing, he would stop, stand up from the keyboard, and dance for a few moments before returning to the piano.
Monk is one of five jazz musicians to have been featured on the cover of Time, after Louis Armstrong, Dave Brubeck, and Duke Ellington, and before Wynton Marsalis.
Also, if you have never heard of him before you are an inferior human being.

It was a nice break while it lasted.
It’s not a very important country most of the time

But I don't really particularly enjoy his music.

I saw Wynton Marsalis do a concert where he played Jelly Roll and Monk stuff that I truly enjoyed.
I am pretty sure Marsalis could run his nails across a chalkboard in a way I would enjoy though; that dude is a musical god.
Let's play Mario Kart or something...
Except for music from video games. Some video game soundtracks are just so amazing to my ears...

This. This is the important part. Everyone has blind spots and not every situation demands going to google or wikipedia or an encyclopedia to get the answer. Especially if you are a kid on twitter. Or a person wasting time in a chat thread.

I doubt it, it's a concept that doesn't have a mouth, as far as I know.

I'm really good at absorbing random factoids. People tend to mistake that for actual knowledge.
Never heard Django Reinhardt play a single tone. Absorbed random facts about him from grod knows where.

People have that weird notion that i'm some kind of super smart ubermensch in real life.

I appreciate people who see a dragon, look at their hands, and say, "I'mma punch it."
Especially if it's a band member from a pop act from the 60s
Fun fact: I can't name all four Beatles
Now, I could easily look it up, I am literally sitting at my computer but I'm not going to because I don't care about ensuring their names are on the tip of my tongue
I even liked the Beatles!
