Looks like Obsidian have announced Pillars of Eternity will launch on March 26th. Lot sooner than I expected.
This has been an awesome day for getting games sooner than I expected. I was just talking about how common it is to get games delayed but how rare it is to get them before you expected. And today I learn that Pillars will come a lot earlier than I thought, as well as my much anticipated Monster Hunter 4. It's a fine day. A fine, fine day.
I think I'm seriously going to start collecting awful games... like Nekopara and Hunie Pop and whatever else I can find...
... and stream them.
Y'all will watch, right? I mean, you proved last night you guys will watch anything...
Now you've done it. Remember what happened last time you said you'd play an awful game? Nobody gifted it to you. And we know he/she/whoever reads this thread.

Its going to be really weird going from this shiny new remake of Avernum 2 to plain old Avernum 3 immediately afterwards.
Going to be a tough adjustment. Not easy going back to diet soda after you've had the nectar of god.
For my next game, gonna play and finish Spec Ops: The Line.
Look at that cover!
I am certain I will have a bombastic good time!
It's an excellent game. I have one recommendation: Do not do it all in one sitting. You'll hate yourself and everyone around you.
Depending on how long it actually is, I am on my 2nd day of my 4 day weekend. Of which, after an exhausting 3 months of continuous overtime at work, I really needed.

The first gift of Bad Rats has gone out. @Firebird is a monster, forcing my hand. Its on sale too, only 24 cents. Until he accepts the gift, more will go out!
I leave the thread for a day and it becomes a SAW movie in here.
Steam is removing support for OAuth which means that when you buy from sites like humble or groupees that you'll have to reddem via the client again instead of clicking a handy button and redeeming via the web.
Boo. I wonder why Steam is removing it? Maybe there have been exploits?
There's a death magic spell in some of the games that lets you rebuild a razed city as an undead city. It made migrating cities you actually wanted to hold onto quite a bit faster.
I wasn't paying close enough attention while skimming the thread, and thought this was a conversation that actually happened. I was confused.

....and much like Saw movies, there's an unnecessary sequel looming.

Come on, now. There hasn't been a Saw movie since 2010.

Avernum 3 is pretty good too. But be aware that it has a time limit (which is why I don't like it as much as 2)
(and also very little of it takes place in actual Avernum)
That sounds pretty interesting.
So I guess most of it would take place on the surface. Works for me.
Revenge!!! :x
Exile 3 was a favorite back in the day and the only one of the series I actually finished (minus the shorter adventures in Blades of Exile). I look forward to a refreshed version though I admittedly have not been a huge fan of the Avernum series compared to the originals. They tend to feel like there's less freedom in party compositions that work compared to the much older games but I may forgive that if Jeff finally finds a way to make the golem factory fun.

I think that may be literally impossible. I never played the original Exile games, but I have done a bit of reading and I have to admit I'd love a six person party in Avernum.

I would still like to replay the old Exile 2 shareware game, but they have a wretched time working on newer systems. They just don't work with 64-bit systems at all it seems.
I suppose it's not too surprising given that they started out on Windows 3.1.

It's not just the six person party. The skill system let you spread out abilities more easily and you didn't feel like you wasted money buying equipment in stores. There was much less drive to optimize a party compared to newer Spiderweb titles.
Then 3 added the crazy stuff you could do by trapping and summoning monsters with a soul crystal. Figuring out what minions were severely undercosted for their effect was part of the fun in Exile 3.
This is an oddly specific request, but did anybody run the public test for Talos Principle and then buy the finished product and not be able to run it? It looks too good for me to run, but it also looks too good not to try.

Basically the same requirements for both, so unless they're full of crap, if you can run the test, the full game should be fine. It's the Serious Sam engine, so it should run well on older machines.

I fear nothing. I have played "Gender Bender: Even Satan is Ashamed" two and a half times already. I am immune to awfulness now. YOU CANNOT HURT ME ANY MORE!
On a related note... Pixie's Awful Game Wednesdays* will begin next week. Brace yourselves! You have a week to stock up on alcohol, razor blades, and adult diapers. I demandexpect hope for viewers! Sometime between now and then I'll figure out what I might have for eligible awful games and put up a poll.
*I am disappoint that Tera is on Tuesdays and I can't take that night and thus call this "Pixie's Terrible Twos-day." I need a better name and an acronym.

It seems steam is adding a 'funny' button to the review system in the near future. I am guessing that allows you to maybe filter out joke reviews when implemented.

This version of Avernum 2 certainly seems abit easier on default difficulty.
I remember getting my shit kicked in pretty early on in Avernum 1 and (and what lil I've played of it) in Avernum 2. It's nice though, makes it feel like you can experiment abit more.
This is an oddly specific request, but did anybody run the public test for Talos Principle and then buy the finished product and not be able to run it? It looks too good for me to run, but it also looks too good not to try.
I've never really suffered from it with FPS type games but for some reason this one triggered it for me. I'm pretty sure it wasn't from trying to solve the puzzles!
If you like the puzzle solving elements of the Portal games, then you'll enjoy it.

Also, meant to say: I am taking suggestions for new sig material from the stream. If there was a particularly awful line or something especially cringeworthy you think I should sig, send me a PM! Best suggestion will be implemented! See @ "KoopahTroopah"'s recording for a refresher! If you can screencap it, even better.
I am disappoint. I am giving you guys the perfect opportunity to give me the most horrible sig ever and only one person even made an effort so far.

It was probably fine but I'm acknowledging the perils of the medium. If we had been in-person, I would have said it without hesitation Hard to get the minutiae of tone in text and could be misconstrued if mods decide to play it safe.
Now that my meeting is over, it's time to go attend the free cocktail hour. This is something they have in hotels in the US that I wholly support. I wish they did it in Canada.
That's why I use emoticons so much. I used to get in tons of trouble due to lack of tone in text (because I'm sarcastic often) and to make up for it I started using emoticons and now I use them to an obnoxious degree.
