Looking for Cosplay Photographers!

I'm hoping to find someone to shoot my World of Warcraft Chromie costume and I'm sure there are others who would like to get some good pictures of their work. Are there any people who are available to shoot on Friday or Saturday? Thanks!

caveat: using these forums to plan meetups for photography is fine, photographers offering any paid services or using this as a way to advertise their services is not, nor is offering to pay for any services. This is not limited to photography, but since we always end up with a photographer or two trying to sell their wares, it always needs mentioning.

Hi, Hearthsinger!

I thought about bringing my gear but wasn't sure if it would be okay to take photos at the event (first time PAXer!). I'm not a pro photographer so I don't charge but I'm always looking for new and interesting subjects to broaden my portfolio.

zerzhul, can you point me to any other rules/guidelines concerning photography at PAX?

Yeah! People set up shoots at PAX all the time. I've shot with a few different people at East before to expand each other's portfolios, so I'd love to collaborate if you're up for it!

Can I take pictures or video?
Indeed! PAX is a public event. Cameras are everywhere. Our attendees understand that they are in the public domain and are likely to be filmed, photographed or recorded. That said if an exhibitor asks you not to film or photograph a booth or an event please respect their wishes. You can even share your pictures with the world through our gallery.

I would say that also, in general, make sure you are not blocking any walkways and if an enforcer or convention center staff member asks you to move, just do it politely without questioning.

I am bringing my setup, and have a couple shoots setup. Ill be there the entire weekend. I shoot on Professional Canon Equipment. (Canon 5d Mkii) with L glass. Since this is a vacation for me, I'm doing the shoots for friends and fun. If you want more info you can let me know

This is actually a really awesome idea for us aspiring photographers! Some day I'd like it to be an on-the-side job, but for now it's for fun and experiment. I wish I were local so packing my gear + everything else would be carry on.

While I can't offer anything this time around, I do want to say THANKS for bringing this up! I hope you manage to get some awesome shots

There's never a lack of people willing to take photos at PAX. I brought my pro rig to pax a few years ago and it was worth it, but now I just grab a point and shoot.

Yeah there are tons of people who put all this work into costumes so it's nice to get a chance to shoot some showcase shots on a good camera.
