Ok, now I want moneys (I got about 50k between all my toons) and I want to know what's the best garrison layout to earn said moneys?
I am capped on GR on one toon and have another max level toon with about 3000 and both have a lvl 3 garrison. The former is an Alchemist/Enchanter and the latter is a scribe/herbalist.
One is sitting at ilevel 625 and the other 615 and I can't do raids, or even dungeons:toddler/life/wow hating wife but I can solo all the old content that drops mounts (down to TK, DS, FL, TotFW, ICC, Kara and EoE) on the regular (because I can pause/logout whenever I have to without leaving other people in the lurch) and I have a level 93 that herbs/mines.
The site revolves around using the AH for profit, but there is a LOT of great information there. Most people right now are either buying/reselling gear for funds or possibly running old content and stockpiling the gold from that (also decent gold income from disenchanting drops from those old raids).
Thanks to Blizzard marginalizing farmed mats this expansion, there is very little to fall back on. Transmog markets are even getting slowly saturated from Salvage Crate drops.
One possible option would be trying to sell Greater flasks or Potions, but be prepared for a fair amount of competition. I've read anecdotes of people being successful from hanging out at raid entrances and advertising via /say and /general, and selling consummables to the forgetful raiders who are running late (or lazy).
We can't get recruits for our Mythic team because there's eight other fucking Alliance guilds recruiting for Mythic who will never down anything more than Kargath.
With regards to Apexis, I did dailies to cap; and now I can use them to fill weekly gaps on reroll tokens. However, I get two free every week from follower missions and L3 War Mill; and I'm presently sitting on 10 tokens.
@Aegis if you have an Inn at your garrison, you can request Scavengers from the Headhunter.
Edit: First Highmaul Cache last night = Mythic version of shoulders I already have. Considering Mythic Tectus may never be killed by our guild/raid, I'm happy with the outcome. This also sets me up nicely, going into BRF.
Also found out yesterday that two of our main healers are still running with 640 gear because Blizzard hates spreading out gear drops (e.g. our Resto Druid has 640 pants because the only viable replacement is from Imperator).
We'd be happy to take all those who want to come, just nobody wants to come.
People are probably content pugging normal and heroic content, while guilds doing mythic generally make you join.
I know, and we'd love to start doing Mythic to get all those wonderful hopefuls joining. We can just barely scrape together a team to do heroic without pugging (on a good day. We've had to pug at least 1, sometimes 2 tanks every raid for 2 weeks now) so I don't know how we're ever going to get out of this. I mean during MoP our problem was getting trials to stick around longer than a week, now we can't even get that. I don't know what happened to everyone, it's like the realm is completely dead in terms of recruitment. Everything else is still fine.

That's what craftables and craftable upgrades are for. This late in the expansion, there's not really an excuse for that. Craftables are incredibly cheap right now.

I still run the Apexis dailies, although I was running out of things to buy with them until yesterday when I realized that the headpiece was still better that what my mage was currently wearing. My guild is still working through normal Highmaul, though.

Sounds like they are going to revamp and upgrade the apexis gear so probably not a bad idea to keep chugging away at those to see what 6.1 brings.

heh, I've even been doing some of the achievements associated with those apexis dailies.
I really love the one called Breaker of Chains. Free 50 slaves from Bloodmaul Stronghold! But all those slaves who are actually in chains and can be freed with keys don't count. Nor do the ones who are frozen in ice. No, the only ones that count are in cages, which have a really low respawn rate.

Maybe your recruitment message needs work? What are you guys using? Specifically, I'd say that listing an ilvl requirement of any kind this early in the expansion is a terrible mistake. You can gear up someone in one or two raid lock outs easily. Also, if you guys have a core group that is good at showing up, but no reliable tanks, then one or two of your core group needs to swap to tanking. You can't expect your trials to take up the reins on that while the rest of your group waits, unless you have a really solid tank trial in the works. You guys don't. But that's a non-starter anyways, because while you may have one great trial prospect for tanking, you're unlikely to have two.
A guild is built around the tanks and the healers. You need solid tanks with high attendance first, a strong healer core second, and then you can sprinkle in dps as needed. So, my advice would be to re-orient your guild to reflect that.

So it came up in the thread last week but I figure a reminder is a good idea.
If you haven't won the STV Fishing Tourney, this Sunday is a really good chance to win it, because of the Super Bowl.
Yep, that's how I won it a few years ago!
The best part too is that you can only get credit for freeing slaves of your faction.
Live on a lopsided server? The other faction slaves will never be freed, thus eventually (until a reset) there will actually be no slaves you can get credit for!
medium buildings: get a barn, basically. Trap elite beasts, sell bloods and fur/leather. Your other medium building should (imo) be either a trading post or an inn; trading post L3 allows you to convert less expensive materials into more expensive ones and sell those, and also to spend down surplus GR. The inn is actually a surprisingly decent moneymaker (treasure hunting missions net a couple hundo a day if you do them regularly) and in 6.1 you'll be able to get treasure hunter followers who generate increased gold rewards from missions.
small buildings/professions: salvage yard, duh. If you aren't or don't have an enchanter you should have an enchanting building, which will let you turn greens and blues into dust and process that into temporal crystals (for which there will be a pretty stable market basically all expansion.) Inscription has been the other great moneymaking profession so far (dudes love trinkets), although you really need to actually have the profession to get full value from the building. Every profession creates something via work order that you can sell, with the possible exception of engineering.
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
So, there's a huge change coming with 6.1. From the PTR patch notes:
Cosmetic transformation effects now have a higher priority than Druid combat forms.
To retain and improve readability in rated PvP environments, cosmetic transformation effects are now suppressed for all classes inside a rated PvP environment (Arenas or Rated Battlegrounds).
Pretty good for a change that has been asked for since Beta.

...This would be why I have 670 crafted leather legs. At least the first tier token we'll be getting from boss #3 of BRF is legs or he might have been stuck with 640 for a while.
But like, I still have 645 Helm and Neck because Twins and Kor'agh refuse to give me anything from coins or rolls for months. So this isn't entirely that big of an issue, especially this close to BRF (for instance, I'm not upgrading me 640 crafted trinket because the literal upgrade drops off the 2nd boss of BRF).
I think a lot of the reason guilds are having trouble recruiting is the prevalence of PUGs. Especially since everything except Mythic is flexible group size and cross realm. It's just the double edged sword of convenience, when you can cherry pick the highest ilvl group to over gear and quickly complete content why spend hours progressing with your guild?
The only guilds that stand out now are the really well progressed ones your 7/7M's or 6/7M's. It just makes things harder for the group of friends sort of guilds that aren't the most organized but honesty it's better then the alternative of waiting an hour or more to find that one last healer or tank you needed so you could actually raid.

Does "cosmetic transformation" include Transmog? I know some people want Transmog in PvP disabled(and those people are dumb IMO), but I rather not have my gear change appearance every time I do arena.

That is really nice its kinda sad having all these neat toys that I simply can't use on my boomkin.
Oh, god. When soloing Firelands, it's possible to get stunlocked by the Druids of the Flame. If you don't kill one of the cats quickly, the two of them can alternate Reckless Leap, which is like a 10 second stun. And since they're only level 85, they probably won't do any damage.

They will kill you...eventually. It will just take forgoddamnever. (See also: stupid spider boss).
Pack a lunch.
Alternatively try a class ability usable while stunned. Like if I got locked in it I have Icebound Fortitude.

there are usually gaps where you can get out. you also know the leap is a ground AOE and you can move out of it? And if you do it stuns them. On pull just wait for them to cast then move away untill they miss.
Numerous times I have had to kill the spider boss using the single GCD you usually get between stuns. Oddly enough the monk zuen pet kills the stunning spiders. I only had 1 of them still hitting me before he killed the boss.
Its a good idea, at least for firelands, to equip some form of stun break even if it means using a trinket. Sometimes that can help fix an issue like that (the druids of the flame use their stun pretty rarely so one stun break and you could walk out of the next leap).
I have been soloing cata raids for a long time now. Its my primary source of income. I just wish I had quicker access to ToT because neither of my chars did the beginning cata quest line. I suppose I could go do it real quick.
If you get caught by both there are no gaps. They will keep resetting the stun until you die.
Then I guess my account is flagged as special. As well as most of the vids online as well as some wrightups.
I have been stuck in both numerous times and gotten out. The spider I know for a fact gives you enough room to use one GCD as the stun ends and another begins. Unless your latency is really bad?
I did notice some skills have some start up lag though. Brewmasters barrel never seemed to get out. Zuen always did.

I can vouch that they can indeed chain stun you with no escape. I went and did it on 25 man the other day and forgot about the leap. They'd just sit there alternating casts. Thankfully I was a paladin and got out of it.
Grab the PvP trinket people. It works for PvE content, and it's not like you need the stats for old content.

I pretty much said that before o_O
The only way they chain stun you is if they get staggered. But like I said, the stun is very easily avoided.

All of which is a great idea if you thought about the chain stun beforehand, but if you thought about the chain stun beforehand you wouldn't have been caught
We've actually gotten a huge surge of members, mostly due to flex allowing us to just take all comers.
Mythic does seem effectively rule out guilds made up of friends, though, which is a shame. And apparently even guilds who are actively looking to do the content. Hopefully they're working diligently to make mythic flex as well, and saying screw the world first race or whatever, and just make things fun.
They're all good too! Perhaps its a result of our less than stellar SoO experiences in the flex design, but I was not expecting us to clear heroic Highmaul without cutting down to the semi-regular 10 people. But we did it without any cuts at all that second time, and only like 2 the first time.
Its pretty nice to be proven jaded instead of proven right.
