I have a Samsung U-740 on the way and figured I should order a 1GB card so that they arrive at the same time. Looking on Newegg, I see a bunch in the $10-$15 dollar range and I can't tell a difference between them. Is MicroSD a universal standard? Will all of them work just as well?
Yes, they are universal; however, be aware that each manufacturer makes them differently--some are better and some are worse. For example, Kingston made in Japan MicroSD cards are some of the best, while Kingston made in Taiwan MicroSD cards aren't that good.
If you plan to use a MicroSD for a DS Flashcart for example, then depending on the manufacturer of the card some games won't play due to the read speed for that card being too low. Since you are just using it for a cellphone, I do not believe it will matter much at all, just go with something that doesn't sound like a shady Taiwanese generic brand.

So I ran a search and came up with these:

Does it matter which one I grab?
