Lord of the [chat]s

DelmainDelmain Registered User regular
The Lord of the Rings is an epic high fantasy novel written by English author J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien's 1937 fantasy novel The Hobbit, but eventually developed into a much larger work. Written in stages between 1937 and 1949, much of it during World War II, The Lord of the Rings is one of the best-selling novels ever written, with over 150 million copies sold.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Plus, they were made into a bunch of movies with this guy in them. Who we all know is a complete badass.

    Don't do it.

All it takes is one typo for your tattoo to become part of an internet meme, and you are giving the artist 13 words to fuck up with.

I am generally on team "don't get a tattoo" though, at least without literal years of careful consideration.

Tattoos gotten on drunken benders or youthful "this means EVERYTHING to me so imma gonna write it on my body!" just cause me to internally cringe.

There are hundreds of thousands of jackasses with Van Halen tattoos who desperately wish they hadn't.

As chairman of a society, which is named after a person, one is in certain way a representative of that person. After reading the Schwarze Hefte, especially the antisemitic passages, I do not wish to be such a representative any longer. These statements have not only shocked me, but have turned me around to such an extent that it has become difficult to be a co-representative of this.

Guess that takes care of the Continentals.

I've always been an advocate of getting at tattoo in your native tongue.

If you want it to be code, then make your own symbolism that means something to you.

I feel like sticking it into another language is a cheap shortcut.

nah, the tattoo i want is in french, because that's the language the author wrote it in

i could get a translation, but those are the translator's words
