Ditto, thanks Dover! And thanks to everyone who came out and played. I was not expecting to make it far, nevermind winning it, but sometimes a deck will surprise you! And everyone else. With a 10 damage dagger.
Also, just wanted to point out that this was the deck that was banned out in every single round:
I misclicked the heartharena choices and the first ancestral healing is an abusive sergeant but the second one was my actual reluctant pick
mvp was probably fel reaver cleaning up every game in which he was cast
2 hexes and 2 fire elementals meant I had them when I needed them
no dunce cards that I can think of, everything worked well together, even getting an ancestral healing blademaster combo one game when I really needed it, even the explosive sheep worked a couple of times to keep me from falling behind in the early game but mostly it sat in my hand being sad
no card draw but the late game consisted of cards that always 2 or more for 1d and the panda was used as pseudo card draw most of the time with an infuriating (for my opponent) fire elemental bounce
the mid-game bombs of fel reaver and earth elemental meant I could start going to the face much earlier than usual even though I didn't have any "finisher" burst other than alakir+abusive which I never used
I still feel totally naked playing a shaman deck without a stormforged post gvg but this deck proved it can work
I'm still a 5 win scrub according to the heartharena stats but im slowly moving up
I'm thinking I'll either try and run another standard tournament like today or do either the Randuin or Arena fun variations instead.
The Conquest format that Blizzard is using also sounds really cool.
That is pretty neat. So you make 5 decks, then have to win with 3 of them where winning means selected a new deck. Pretty sweet!
This sounds really good, I would be completely ok with getting bent over by a priest who steals all my shit only one time per match. Not that I have anyone specific in mind.

I find it almost physically painful to watch Lifecoach play. He overthinks everything to such a degree that it sets him behind in games that he should be easily winning.
I'm disappointed in all of the players today for not choosing a single Zoo or Hunter deck. Tsk, tsk.
If it makes you feel better, I just went T2 Mechwarper -> T3 Mechwarper + Nullifier -> T4 Piloted Shredder + Ship's Cannon. In arena.
And the shredder was piloted by a mechwarper.

I like that blizzard format. so rather than a loss meaning a class is dead, a win means you can't use it anymore. at the least it's worth trying out, I don't really understand why it seems so many tournaments just decided the last hero standing format was best rather than experimenting.

I would like to argue against the implementation of the blizzard format because I have like one and a half good decks

I actually really hate last hero standing. It's way too easy for one person to lose because they brought classes that all have bad matchups against a single class, or because one deck is totally dominant and just 3-0's (like huntertaker in its prime). Conquest sounds much more interesting.
I think it will force people to make decks that are more well rounded because each of their decks has to win (vs., for example, last Blizzcon where there were a couple decks that were very clearly anti-Handlock decks and were ass against most other decks), which I like as a concept.
Not pictured: Mana Wyrm, Clockwork Gnome, 2x Frostbolts and an Abusive Sergeant.
A lot of the spell choices were against other spell choices, but I could have had one or two other mediocre minions.
Not enough spells. Never enough spells. A mage deck can have 4x frostbolt, 4x fireball, 1x blizzard and 2x flamestrike and you'd be great.
Well, you need some big beaters, but it looks like your deck has them.
You can win the game on the back of one zombie chow if you have enough removal to go with it.
Not really? Opponent will have removal of some sort.

I just had easily my favorite win ever. it would be hard to relay every detail but around midgame I get 3 coldlight oracles from a neptulon. I hold them because I don't want to help my opponent (handlock) at all.
eventually opponent jaraxxuses. I harrison and end up burning 2 cards because I'm still holding the coldlights. with those 7 draws our decks are now equal size.
so I start paying very close attention to his deck size, my deck size, my board state, etc.
ultimately my board is an argus, a piloted shredder (the 4 cost one), and a 1/1 totem. his board is 3 infernals, a sylvanus, and a sludge belcher. his health is 9 with 2 cards in his deck, my health is 18 with one card in my deck.
coldlight. coldlight. coldlight. I take 1+2+3+4+5 or 15 damage. he takes 1+2+3+4 or 10 damage and dies wooooooooooooooooooooo
an on the fly plan that I absolutely cannot believe worked out. if he took one swing at me instead of a healing totem or if I had missed him, if he waited til he was a little lower to kill my last zombie chow (it took him from 14 to 15 as jaraxxus) he'd have been fine. it was definitely the very last moment I could kill him without killing myself. hell if my last totem had been different I lose.
wish we had replays, I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself right now :P

So I replaced the Acolyte of Pain in mid-range paladin with Guardian of Kings and it feels way better. Acolyte never felt like it got great value. Even StrifeCro said it was mostly a placeholder.
I also added a KT (because I don't own sky golem or sylvanas), and man, he pays dividends. In mores games than not I've had huge Equality --> trade board --> KT swing turns.
edit: I sort of wonder if "mid-range" is even the appropriate description for the deck. If you take out the Knife Jugglers and Piloted Shredders it looks basically like a control paladin minus the Stampeding Kodos. Hmm. WHAT ARE EVEN LABELS.
Hahaha, this mage plays Cairne, I play Sylanas, he plays Sludge Belcher, I hit it with Sylvanas, then he draws Flame Leviathan, killing Sylvanas for me so I steal Cairne. Whoops.

I've gone soft on rope burners since my wifi went to shit for a couple of days and I got weird lag on the ipad. Usually the first few seconds were ok and then the game would hang until the rope and the last seconds were ok again.
So for my opponent it probably looked like I did everything fast and then only hit end turn on the rope.

Congratulations. New pirate meta incoming.
I was too distracted by the multiplying troggs to take more

Nooooo! Captain Greenskin was vital to me winning that last game!
Also, final tally: Taunt Druid went 1-3, Control Priest went 5-2, Pirate Rogue went 3-0, all played in that order.
