Man, Sneed's is giving me so much value. In the last 5-10 times in a row at least it's been at least a 7 attack one, or al'akir. And one time a guy facelessed it and he got thalnos and I got al'akir.
I haven't been able to break rank 17 since the season started. It's especislly odd since I normally get to rank 6-7. Any deck suggestions to get over the hump?

Oil Rogue will get you past all the Face Hunter and Mech Mage trash that plagues the high teens. Climbing with the deck below 18 -> **12 so far.
I have found playing the ladder this season far worse than I remember. Pre GvG I was able to ably get to rank 2/3. Last month I was able to get to rank 7/8 consistently. This one I'm struggling in the 10/11 range. The meta is all over the place. It's 3 mech mages/face hunters in a row, then you run into a mid-range pally, then a control warrior, then a ramp druid, then a mid-range hunter, then a handlock, then a demonlock.
Lately I've just been running Face Hunter because nothing else I can build is demonstrating enough consistency to be playable.
Mostly I hate the paladins. Their cards are just so damned good! If I had more of the GvG pally cards and Tirion I'd be playing it.
Oh yeah forgot to say @Carnarvon, I took your advice to replace the mechwarpers with the auto-barbers and have gotten a lot better consistnecy. I've also crafted a second iron sensei but I can't think of what to replace for it. Ideally it'd be the Kezan Mystic but it's too useful in some common tough matchups.
I'm still pretty happy with the results I'm getting. If this keeps up and I manage to get like rank 7 I might just craft a Boom and make a push for legend before the season ends and the meta gets wrecked by the adventure next month

I'll post my shaman deck if you wanna play it
slightly off standard but pretty close
I hit 4 with it last season which is as well as I've ever done
Antonidas and the stealth spare part is beyond infuriating, and a auto-win combo that is completely out of your control. RNG LOL!
I'm not really sure how its auto win, or any worse than force of nature + savage roar.
Seriously, I have died with this combo available and ready in hand. It doesn't stop you from dying, and takes your entire turn 8 and 9 (or 7 and 8 if you have coin) to deal 12 damage and do nothing to improve your board state. You also need good spare parts. It's like a more complicated, slightly more damage but earlier pyroblast.
Besides being wrong that's not even how you spell molten
Yeesh! Fixed!

Don't mind me, I'll just stand over here in the corner, tilting away.
Nothing but face hunter on the ladder tonight, just getting smashed left and right. And when I do play something else I get terrible draws or stall out. Or I start the game with double Wild Growth and then... no minions for three draws.
So switch up to my sea giants paladin, get a great draw, drop a sea giant on turn 4 that goes like 3-for-1 against a ramp druid. He drops Ragnaros, and I trade and... miss exact lethal because of it. Lost the game a few turns later as a result.

Belcher > Violet Teacher
I crafted up the missing cards I needed and built an Oil Rogue deck myself, today. It's uh, really really good. How do you deal with Face Hunters though? They just seem to rip right through me.
Also, I wouldn't discount Violet Teacher. You can build up a nice board presence with just a few spells. You can certainly run both Sludge Belchers and Violet Teachers.

Face Hunters are apparently super good against Oil Rogue, which is why people are playing Face Hunter. Also destroys Midrange Hunter.

FWIW, Facehunter is one of the tougher matches for oil rogue. Midrange hunter is better matchup.
A doozy for @enlightenedbum and other shaman non-believing heretics
Man, that reminds me. I took a decent shaman deck, nothing special, to 11-0 a couple of weeks ago and then disconnected right as I was about to win my 12th game. Then I lost the next 2, ending 11-3. I was so salty after that. Soooooooooo salty. I still am a little, to be honest.

I'd definitely run the Kezan if I had one. More than a few matches I could have won, had I drawn her. I'd consider dropping the Cogmaster's Wrench (you have a lot of 3 drops, and not many mech 1/2 drops) or a Dummy.
With the ~20 games I've played with him, Boom has been more useful than a War Golem in maybe five of them, and four of those times was because of Savage Roar. Not to say that he isn't super good, but you could probably get around with any 5+/6+ minion. Hell, Ravenholdt Assassin would probably have been better for a lot of matchups. Come to think of it, War Golem is a mech.

War Golem actually is not a mech. Harvest Golem is the only neutral golem that is a mech AFAIK.

Also, I've discovered Handlock's weakness:

Against a standard oil rogue it might be a slightly uneven match against face hunter, against mine not so much. Violet Teacher is more gimmick, it just feeds dogs to Hunters and the extra minions don't do much. I'd rather have a Piloted Shredder.
T3 10/10 Van Cleef feels so good against Mech Mage.
Holy cow, I'm only playing the lowest effort decks of all time tonight. Super fucking annoying.

Weird, here people are complaining but below rank 10 I saw almost no face hunters on EU. It was midrange hunters, mech mages and ctrl warriors. At rank 8-10 there's more face hunters (but still like 50:50 with midrange) and then a whole bunch of Druids and for some reasons priests. Haven't seen an oil rogue in ages.
(I'm playing face hunter and it's working out ok, matchup wise)
Priests are showing up because of the uptick in Hunters. They are good against Midrange Hunter, and if tech'd right, I assume Face Hunter. (I don't play Face Hunter so I can't say firsthand.)
Here's how you beat Priest as Midrange Hunter: when they drop Auchenai to Circle your board at around 10 HP, when you have around 30, you quit playing minions and take your lumps and laugh while they try to race you, then you Kill Command them. Greetings, traveller.
Can I say this? I love the meta right now. Midrange Hunter's one of my favorite decks to play, and Oil Rogue is super fun and awesome. Now if only Handlock were in a good spot, we'd be in Heaven.
EDIT- I also think Kolento or another big streamer was playing Priest in the past few, so that is another reason.

I was similar. Saw almost 0 face hunter prior to rank 10, hit rank 9 I think on my midrange shaman then went on a massive losing streak to almost non stop face hunter.

not that it's never been done but I hadn't seen them in most people's priests lately (as far as streams I watched)

It can be inconsistent. Typically an aggro deck doesn't like that. In general the gap between tiers are supposed to be smaller this season though.

Alternatively you could play Taunt Druid or Healadin.
Best matchup against face hunter is warrior, followed by handlock and a taunty Druid.
I would love to play more control warrior, but I have 3 lists and I always queue into the bad match ups for the list and get salty.
