Yeah, though you can take a break from the game. It saves whenever you are at the ship, you just can't save mid-mission and I think if you quit mid-mission it cancels the Season too. Bit hardcore but personally I like the stress it adds to the later levels. The one gripe I have is the "continue" system they have, which costs you 5 crash coins I think hamstrings you severely and I don't think it's really worth it. Maybe I need to get better at being stealthy or something but it seems impossible to track your stuff down. I've only tried it once but it was on Season 2-3 and was incredibly rough and I died very quickly.
Galak-Z is pretty cool, but I wish the controls were a bit more traditional twinstick style. My brain is having trouble telling my fingers what to do in a dog fight... troublesome against the tougher ships.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
I'm tired, so here's the Store Update post with less attempts at humor than usual.

So, pretty much as stated. If you're wondering why J-Stars Victory Vs. is on again, I'm guessing that the version is unbundled with things that were there for early buyers. Cosmetic DLC, I imagine, but someone feel free to correct me.
A couple things I don't usually mention but: 1) Rocket League has a ShareFactory theme now, which I think has been sorely needed and 2) There's a limited time PS4 theme from Horizon Zero Dawn that's only available for purchase through September 1st. It's part of PS Heroes, a charity thing that donates 90% of what is spent to the USO (which is why there are different 'tiers' of purchase for the things in PS Heroes). It also looks pretty cool. Mostly because Horizon looks pretty cool.
Galak-Z is pretty cool, but I wish the controls were a bit more traditional twinstick style. My brain is having trouble telling my fingers what to do in a dog fight... troublesome against the tougher ships.
I think there's a bit of a learning curve there, but once it clicks, it feels more bad-ass than standard twinstick, and it really sets it apart from all the other shooters of this type.
Do upgrades/chests only appear in the big circle "dungeon" parts of the maps, or should I explore the open areas too?
Edit: in Galak-Z, that is.
Pretty sure they are only really in the dungeon pieces - I have never seen chests/Crash outside. Aside from that, I conquered Season Two tonight. Had to cash in Crash coins twice on the final mission but still loving the game. Can't wait to get crushed by Season Three.

Yeah, I'm getting the hang of it a little. Still not great with it, but I did pull off some sweet 180 reverse thruster maneuvers while being chased by those giant bugs. I think I also need to train myself to retreat from tougher fights if I'm not doing well. Get a little too Leeroy Jenkins sometimes...
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
Has anyone played Guided Fate Paradox and/or Awakened Fate Ultimatum?
The premise sounds cool, just way too many game in my backlog already.
I did. They aren't really anything great and I'm pretty sure Awakened Fate has some very questionable sexism in it. They're both just simplistic roguelikes with not a lot of good gameplay to recommend them for and a ton of creepy anime stereotypes.
I read that Lords of the Fallen is an easier take on Souls. I've almost bought it a few times. That's a great price, and if MGSV weren't releasing in less than a month I would be all over it.
Made it through the first "season" on my first try last night. Had to cut myself off after that, since it was after midnight already and I'm an old man.

Do a Google image search for that image. The hundreds of stock office/coworker/white collar images that come up as results are fantastic. Some are pretty rote but there are tons that are just silly situations, laughably cliche, and reaction poses.
I mean, it didn't show any gameplay and it starts off with yet another gravel throated moody male protagonist. By the end of the trailer, though, I had goosebumps. Seems like it's going to have a pretty good soundtrack, and refreshingly will take place in Louisiana instead of New York or Chicago. Gonna keep an eye on that one.

Black protagonist, Louisiana, 1968. Fingers crossed they actually use that setting and social climate and do something with it.
In my opinion, the Souls games are like getting drunk at a kegger, and Lords of the Fallen is like the hangover the morning after - peripherally related, but diametrically opposite experiences from one another. Unless you're starved for a Soulsesque experience, keep your hands off this Souls wannabe. I was more angry than elated with the game. Not quite tight enough combat mechanics, uninteresting leveling and customization, barely any exploration, run-of-the-mill bosses, that are more boring than exhilarating, and often unfair in a bad way. And yes, I slogged my way all the way through.
I cannot figure out strafe for the life of me. It seems to thrust to the side of the direction you were already travelling in, but I can't get the hang of it.
'Chance, you are the best kind of whore.' -Henroid
Most of Galak-Z is soooo good. But then the punitive rogue-like nature kicks in and I never want to touch the game again.
Why would they saddle such a good shooter with such an obnoxious mechanic?
So you fight tooth and nail to keep every health bar, really feel it when you lose one of them, and feel like Spike Spiegel when you come out of a dogfight with two gunships and no scratches.

I've gone from absolutely hating the continue mechanic and such to kind of liking it. Sneaking in to get my stuff back created some of the more tense moments in the game for me.

For you badass types who are good at Dark Souls/Bloodborne style games, I'd say yes.
Then we're going to have to point and laugh for a while.
I will smack you with my sword/cane.
But apparently not very well! So it's ok.
Though, I also didn't try very hard. :P
