It's likely I'll be hitting up Dragon Forge games in Brained for some Magic the Gathering sometime in the next month , especially if it rains during the deer hunt, because screw sitting in the rain/sleet. They've got a draft on Saturdays. If anyone would be interested I'll holler when I'll be there.
Also I hear there is a new decent spot to watch planes land at the ol' MSP. Anyone checked it out yet?

i (begrudgingly) agree with mr pink on the minnesota zoo, its worth the money because you dont need antidepressants afterwards, and thats big savings so its a net gain.

i have a weird opinion about the soap factory haunted house, because for a number of years in july they held a small independent film festival at the same abandoned soap factory that the haunted house is in and so now that i know exactly what it looks like inside with all the lights on and filled with a bunch of people watching movies, its lost some of its edge
Can I coerce anyone into playing Krosmasters with me? I was thinking about getting into it when someone gifted me their set of promotional leftovers. It's way cheaper than Warhammer, I swear!

Depends on who shows up. I have my girlfriend's hitbox, a shitty SE stick, a FightPad and standard 360 controllers. Two other people have extra sticks, but they can't always make it.

Unless you want me to take a crack at the buttons it's yours if I can remember to bring it
Also the problem is it might be a ps3 stick - it has a USB. I dunno if it's gonna work

I have all the krosmasters
come at me
I'll be at GPS this weekend for our street fighter event. I can bring along all my chibi action figures to fight your chibi action figures.
Also, there's a krosmaster event at universe games on Tuesday evenings. The store owners are super chill, and the players explained the whole game to me.
so you buy collectable figures and fight other peoples figures?
Yeah. Imagine final fantasy tactics/tactics ogre, except you buy sets to recruit new characters. Each one comes with a card with the relevant game information and some tokens if they summon anything.
There is also a PC version if you want to stop accumulating nerd crap in your house.

I have no idea where or what GPS is so probably that's a no go.
Universe Games is a joke. I went there three times for Krosmaster and there was never anything going on at all.

clearly I am extreme bitter about it
I live a few blocks from Universe Games. I don't really buy into public events at any gaming store, but the staff there seems okay. Had a great conversation about WH40K with one of their female employees, which was a welcome and unexpected surprise.

So do I! Holy crap we must be in the same dang neighborhood! The chance of Relic getting played is skyrocketing.
As for Universe; I've been in there a lot and have never once even been acknowledged as existing. As far as I know it;s pretty crap but maybe it's changed very recently.

It depends on who you run into. 3/4 people who work there are totally fine, last one is all business. Krosmaster nights tend to be either 8 people or no people.

Uptown is a pretty great place to live. I manage to get by without a car, which is nice (and I can afford stuff like Relic because I don't have to pay for gas or whatnot).
Anyway, I can go in and inquire what the better evenings to play board games are. Would rather not navagate around a ton of Hearthstone or Magic players.

That sounds awesome. I also am car free which lets me amass more than 250 board games.

I haaaaate having a car. I'm not a very good American, because I would torch the thing in return for decent bus and metro coverage.
In any case, I'm in uptown all the goddamn time, so let me know if you want to tabletop/video game.

I just use Car2Go to get around. That way I get to not own a car and still be an American.
Anyway.
I talked to Universe Games, and their less busy days are Tuesday and Saturday, apparently, and things only pick up at all after 5 pm anyway. I get home from work ~3 pm, so I could claim a table for some Relic without trouble.

Yea but then I have to park in Uptown, the zone of parking tickets. Gross.
Tuesday? Is relic a miniatures game?
No a warhammer themed Talisman-like. We most likely won't finish it.
Park on Garfield Ave. It's residential and you just have to walk 2 blocks to Universe.

my job pays for a metro pass since i dont use one of their parking spots which apparently costs them 200 a month to pay for if i used one. so free bus/lightrail always

I have both the Terra and Nemesis expansions. I'm fine with playing both from the get-go (it's Talisman, how hard can it be?), but if people have an opinion we can not use expansions.

I see there is a corn maze in Shakopee.
ValleyFair is also doing their ValleyScare right now, so depending on your interest in haunted amusment parks, that might be a thing.
@Raijin Quickfoot awww! You have a Brainerd playmate.

I didn't know that.

one of the questions they ask you before you go in is " do you have anything in your pockets that will fall out if you get turned upside down"
it is hella extreme
