wow what a winter huh I never thought it would last all the way to march
Marty: The future, it's where you're going? Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

I keep hearing jokes like this. All you Minnesotans need to spend winter somewhere normal. Spring is supposed to start in March you freaking polar bears.

I don't know what normal means. I went from Texas to Minnesota.
I don't think it's as warm as they keep saying. My phone claimed it was 70 when I left work. As soon as I left the building I know that it was a solid Much Colder Than 70.
Maybe it's an experiment to see how people react if they THINK it's warmer than it is.
If they SAY it's 40, and it is 40, people will be depressed because of the cold.
But if they SAY it's 70 and it's 40 people will be happier because "this is not 10, that's for sure!"

It was super warm around 3PM today. I had to take off my jacket!
They're both in the table top gaming spaces again, so feel free to hang out with us and play some RPGs and whatnot if you're not up for Street Fighting.
@Perrsun , not that this is advance notice, but we just decided to go to tea source after errands. They have a green tea sample tray today because HAHAHA ST PATRICK'S DAY GET IT

I did! Plus, I know short notice during rush hour helps nobody. I drove from NE Minneapolis through to the SW suburbs at about 5:30. At minimum, 6 of those drivers were monsters to be driven into the sea.
Infiltration of local federal government complete. Notified current job that their services were no longer needed. Initiating new protocols on 04/04/2016.

April Street Fighter V events are posted up. I'm looking at 04/02, 04/10, and 04/16.
There's also a tournament tomorrow, hosted by the MN Tournament Gaming group, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make it. It's a good learning opportunity, though; those guys are pretty good!
Last day at work in the Crackstacks. If there's a zombie apocalypse before 2 pm when my shift ends, I'm still leaving. I've seen the original Dawn of the Dead.

As someone with the inside scoop, why did they make the buildings look so terrible?

@JebusUD Funny thing, Riverside Plaza was the work of a master "Brutalist" (I shit you not, that's the name of the style) architect, Ralph Rapson, who had this future-retro plan for the entire West Bank. Literally the project was supposed to be something like 20 square blocks. The weird color panels and variable building heights were supposed to represent, like, diversity or some shit like that. They even wanted to have upscale, luxury apartments on the same block as low-income housing, because, as we all know, rich people love sharing their space with the poor.
Honestly, I think that Rapson watched too much of The Jetsons and thought that it would be some vibrant-colored utopia that wold be welcomed with open arms.
In actuality, what happened was, the hippies who lived in the neighborhood in 1972 objected to THE MAN destroying their houses to put up these weird monoliths and protested. Meanwhile the predictable happened and they had under-capacity occupation of the luxury units while minorities recommended only certain buildings to their friends and relatives, creating effective "ghettos" that the dreamers behind the project thought would be avoided because of the 1968 Fair Housing Act preventing "steering" of minorities into certain areas.
The combined pressure of these social and economic pressures caused the project to be abandoned. There was (again, I shit you not) a Bridge to Nowhere until only a few years ago that was supposed to link Riverside Plaza to the lot across from it on Cedar Ave. They eventually took it down, I think during the $135 million renovation that took place after the owners managed to get the plaza classified as a national monument.
Anybody got a list of rich person restaurants in Downtown Minneapolis with most excellent vegetarian options (but something for carnies)?

Also, this is not downtown, but the lady and I had an excellent vegetarian time at a fancier-than-we-usually-eat restaurant in South Minneapolis. http://primampls.com/
Actually Brazilian steakhouses have excellent vegetarian stuff. Mmm pineapple.
But yeah, I dunno monocle, does a restaurant with $1000 wine on the list qualify? Something where entrees are in the 20 to 40 dollar range. Or a reasonable restaurant with great food and service that doesn't have Deer Hunter, meaning why even bother.
I don't know where uptown is. Bloomington is too far though

Uptown is western Minneapolis, toward St. Louis Park. Universe Games (where we played board games a few months ago) is there.

This is less fancy. But fabulous food and great options for everyone.
Warning, French Meadow is for hipsters ONLY. Bad service and overpriced food. When you get a Manhattan, they just give you the ingredients and force you to make it yourself.
You ask me, it's only an option if the person you're taking out claims to need gluten free food.
Honestly, you're better off slumming it at World Street Kitchen.

Hmm, half the people are from New York (translation: "I think complaining about the service in a loud voice builds character") so maybe not. Plus they already did French at Café Lurcat.
Alright, I think I've got enough for them to tell me to stop helping. Thanks errbody

I thought about suggesting Café Lurcat, but decided against it because there aren't very many vegetarian options.
Yeah, they've been making do with like the one vegetarian dish (I think it was a mushroom risotto which was actually pretty decent) which usually translates into them leaving early or OD'ing on wine. This is a goodbye dinner for one of them so I wanted to put forward something; maybe we can have a super secret extra dinner for the poors

Google expects the next week to have lows no lower than 33, with highs between 50s and 60s. So yay!
On the other hand, I've seen it snow in May.

No lie, I am cautiously fearfully curious about their veggie burgers.
If we are giving joke suggestions then Fogo de Chao.

I will restaurant it up at zen box at a moment's notice, but what time? This week is no good for me, and Mondays and Thursdays can be hectic.
