Blizzard will be hard to do that with. Personally, I would just find people exiting the booth and ask them nicely, as that has worked for me in the past.
Yep, that's how I got duplicates of my Blizzard pins... just find someone walking out looking at their pin with curiosity and ask them kindly if you can trade them a Kitty Kemper pin for it instead, because Kitty.
I might actually cry if this happened. No, actually, if they went Crash Bandicoot or Spyro the Dragon I would own every single one of the 1000+ pin run.
I don't think we will get a new staff set because East hasn't had a chance at the hobby set yet. Didn't it come out at prime last year??
I hope GTG has another pin with a hero on it this time but I think they will have more Baron Blade pins with them at East. I would like to see more Board Game companies get in on Pins. Steve Jackson Games or Fantasy Flight would be sweet.
Well. I had never considered how much I could want a Netrunner pin before now. Hmmmm ...
I know it is unlikely to happen, but I would some sort of Patriots Superbowl championship reference on a pin. Even having Gabe or Tycho wearing a "Pats" jersey.

I think that might actually *kill* Jeff.
I am willing to take that risk.
You sure? Think how many fewer third party pins there would be with out him to make all those deals. Not to mention hes probably our best hope for someday getting a Nintendo pinny pin.
Jeff is great, definitely not worth even the fictional risk. And while I'm not opposed to sport themed pins, don't think there should be any about specific championships. Even Jeff's hobby pin was just a nod to the Seahawks, since the licensing otherwise would be bananas, I'm sure.
What I really would like to see is a claptrap or Vault symbol pin.
Yea, making a specific reference to any sports team is just a mistake. Jeff gets the nod because that's HIS pin, anything outside of that would just be dumb.
So, ArenaNet had a non-PA pin at South for their Heart of Thorns reveal panel. What do you think the odds are of them doing an official pin for East? They seem to have a good relationship with PA (they've sold merch through the store), so it seems like a natural fit.
I would absolute love a Scarlet pin.
Edit: Also, they've confirmed that they'll have a playable build of Heart of Thorns on the floor. That seems like solid time sink pin potential.
Hmm, im not sure about the idea of reprints. I enjoy the creation of stories or 'legends' about having to be at x place at y time to get one. It adds to perceived value, and if they were made available again it kind of negates that feeling.
Then again i might just be saying this because i have one, and would totally beg for a reprint if i needed one :P

I like the idea of a redesign instead of a reprint -- like Merch 1.0 vs Merch 2.0. If it was a new and different Leeroy design, it would still have the character everyone loves and maintain the specialness of the original.

On that note: I'd love to see another non-stationary pin. Having to hunt a moving target to acquire a pin seems like fun. I wasn't at East last year, so I missed out on the Leroy hunt.

No it wasn't fun. Try getting 3 of them and losing your voice. With limited data and a ton of other people trying to fight over 900 pins

Eh, the hobby is approaching a point where I think, much like Disney pins, it's going to become impractical to collect every single one. I'd rather have unique, interesting experiences while collecting pins, than make it easier for everyone to be a completionist. Fun is more important than brain squirrels (but I understand others disagree).

I don't see them doing reprints this soon, for particular Pins maybe a little earlier than some (Rayman because character head) but don't expect them for several years. In Disney parlance they are Reissued or part of a Classic Collection several years later. I can see something like that, but this has only been going two years. Patience.

That was problematic for those who couldn't ambulate quite as well as others. Medical badge holders, those with children, people who have been walking for two days solid.
If Leeroy had been run with a few changes, it would have been fine. But the low number of Pins meant infrequent appearances on the floor, and the lack of noticeable costume made spotting him difficult.
Blizzard needed to have 3,000 instead of 1,000 Pins, and spend some cash on a costume that stood out rather than a silkscreened T-shirt.

What exactly were the requirements to obtain a Leeroy?
PAX Prime attendee since 2008.
Another year of Prime gone by... commence the struggle!
i wasnt there but iirc, there was a blizzard employee "dressed as" leeroy (dressed as in quotes because he was only wearing a red shirt with leeroys face on it) walking around the show floor, he rarely showed up and was only around for few hours per day.
someone who was there can explain better, i think thats what happened though

I wasn't at East last year, so I wasn't aware of the amount of running around required. Great point about medical badge holders, etc.
That said, I rather like the idea of more active (even if not physically) pin quests. The Next Level at Prime was an interesting example. I wouldn't want every pin at the show to do it, but I appreciate that a few pins might have a bit of a challenge associated with them. It'd be pretty boring if we never go much beyond "Give us money." or "Wait in a long line." as methods of pin distribution at PAX.
Maybe there could be scavenger hunts, or some sort of collaborative quest to "unlock" pins (ie, the entire community bands together to make a pin become available for purchase by completing goals), etc. It's one of the reasons I enjoy tracking down the PA staff with their lanyards: it requires a bit of effort, and sometimes it has a cool pay off.
Anyway, this is rather off topic for this thread. I would love to hear more ideas for how pins could be distributed at PAX. Maybe a topic for a future podcast?

He was wearing a Red T-shirt with the Leeroy Pin on it, so those who know the PAX colour of East can probably see the flaw there.
He would try and sneak out of the booth, and run through the crowd to his predetermined distribution point. That made it hard for the less agile people.
He did this three times a day, and only had 100 cards on him each time. You redeemed the cards at the Blizzard booth. So each "session" lasted maybe 15 minutes.
Those are the flaws, which could have been easily solved with: An Actual Costume, Doing this by the Blizzard Booth, Having More Pins.
A Leeroy reprint would be awesome, but highly unlikely I think.
I did not mean an actual Pats championship pin, I know that is near impossible. I just want Gabe/Tycho in a a Pats look a like jersey, similar to Kemper's coffee cup from Prime. Sports are huge in Boston/New England and we love our teams.
As much as I hate to say it, we are never getting a Nintendo pin. I just can't imagine them doing it. With the way they have handled everything else lately even if they did it would turn into a cluster that would make Blizzard look benevolent.

Also, once you tracked him down (we literally had one friend at the booth, one person in the skywalk giving directions over phone, and the rest of us running around while looking at twitter from time to time), you had to get his attention to get a redemption card. I think we got really lucky, considering there were 50-100 people around him at any one time.
I really wish I had known that the Leeroy was so hard for folks to get. We found him twice once we figured out a good system of waiting for people to come back to the Blizz booth after they had found him. Every time We found him we were the only ones, we just had to yell Leeeerrrrooooyyyy Jenkins at him. I got three for me and my pin pals. Had I known I would've got more... Always seems to be the case with me. I just hope there are less pins than last East. The list was crazy and I had to have help to get all the pins for three sets for my pin pals.
Yea I feel that AUS and South have a good amount. Prime and East have gone cray cray.
It also makes it more difficult when there are dissimilar pin amounts for the pin pal groups. We have to figure out extras to make up the difference which is annoying. If it was one or two pins its not a problem, but there were twice as many pins at East versus Aus. I realize that East and Prime are bigger and have more vendors, but it is still crazy to get them all let alone three to four sets for pin pals.
Eh, the hobby is approaching a point where I think, much like Disney pins, it's going to become impractical to collect every single one.
Not only that, but also take into consideration the monetary cost associated with obtaining the pins. Sure, some are free if you wait in line for 60-120 minutes, but on average I would say each pin costs ~$10.
They used to be $5-8 (Behemoth, Lookouts), then $10 was the norm (PAX East 2014), then they jumped up to $15 (PAX Prime 2014), and now they're starting to sell for $20 (PAX South 2015).
Last I counted, I had something ridiculous like 220 pins, which is over $2,000 worth of product. It's an expensive hobby to "start" if your goal is to collect one of everything...
Barely got my Leeroy, took all three days and it was a nightmare. Also, I feel like the guy doing it, had a really lousy job too, as when I got my pin, it was madness, hundreds of frothing, screaming people pushing in for a pin, screaming their heads off.

out of those 900 pins given out I think maybe half of them went to pin collectors.
