Hey everybody,
I'm part of a Rogue Trader campaign and we're currently seeking a new member. We play on Saturdays using Skype and Maptool version b.89. Prior experience with 40K RPGs and Maptool is recommended but not required.
The Frozen Wastes (Story So Far):
The party has recently finished fighting a war on the planet of Demaris alongside other members of an impromptu Defense Council. The council's other members included General (now Lord Governor,) Reme Dante, Rogue Trader Elizabeth Orleans, Rogue Trader Jeremiah Blitz, and Imperial Navy Captain Sylvia Locke. Among the defense forces was a regiment of Scintillan guardsmen lead by Captain Victrix's uncle, Lord Commissar Jericho Victrix. The combined defense forces were pitted against a splinter group of Orks from the 'Undred 'Undred Teef. These xenos were forced into a retreat following the death of their Warboss at the cost of the lives of many guardsmen, pdf forces, and Commissar Victrix himself. Bittersweet though the victory was, the party nonetheless stayed on planet to celebrate while their ship is repaired in orbit. Tristan, who had been sparking up a romance with Lady Orleans despite her servitude with the Khan dynasty, accepted an invitation to dinner on board her ship. Cecil, who accompanied Tristan as his bodyguard, inexplicably turned up back on Demaris the next day, drinking himself into a stupor while claiming Captain Victrix had given him leave. Tristan however was nowhere to be found.
The party, now worried as to the unknown whereabouts of their Captain, resorted to messaging his family for help and were ordered to return to Footfall and await further instructions. Once there they encountered a Dauntless-class Cruiser bearing the Victrix insignia called Excelsior. After establishing communications and confirming their identity the party met with a Victrix agent from the Excelsior: Gillam Victrix, Tristan's older brother. Gillam explained that Malachai, head of the Victrix dynasty and Gillam and Tristan's father, had received a message from the Khans saying that they had taken Tristan prisoner and demanded an exorbitant ransom for his safe return. Tristan's dinner with Lady Orleans turned out to be a trap, and Lady Orleans was actually Lucretia Khan in disguise. Knowing that Malachai would refuse to pay for the return of his lesser son, Gillam had come to Footfall to develop a plan for Tristan's rescue. Unfortunately, lack of information on Tristan's and the Khan's whereabouts forced the party to contact someone they had considered a last resort option: Koran Gerrit. Gerrit was a pirate and slaver the party had encountered before, and he had previously worked in service to the Khans in exchange for his ship. The party, though reluctant to trust Gerrit and knowing of Tristan's hatred for the man, made contact and agreed to meet with him aboard his ship. Gerrit was amused by Tristan's plight and agreed to assist the party in saving Tristan before Lucretia inevitably kills him.
Current Explorers:
Rogue Trader, Lord Captain Tristan Victrix (Craptastic-13): Young, idealistic son of the Victrix Rogue Trader Dynasty. He has ventured out into the Koronus Expanse with a single ship and crew to seek fortune and earn his stripes in the family dynasty. However, he's rapidly learning that the galaxy is a cutthroat place full of death and betrayal at every turn. His ship is a Tempest-class Strike Frigate dubbed "The Eternal Vigilance." He's currently a prisoner of hated rival Lucretia Khan.
Navigator, Navigator Primaris Athena Cassini (Hellion): Captain Victrix's Void-born Warp Guide. A very small, paranoid woman of a nearly depleted family line who likes to wield a Thunder Hammer in melee combat, because why not? Athena is an invaluable asset to her Captain despite her overly paranoid nature. Has a very deep voice, likely caused by warp mutation.
Astropath Transcendent, Choir-master Telepathica Aardsven Evenson (Connor Orton): Newly elected Choir-master of the Vigilance, Aardsven is a man of relatively few words. He uses his powers of Divination to provide insight to the party in addition to offensive psychic powers to obliterate enemies.
Void-Master, Master Helmsman Kirkaid Dawnwall (Akalistos): Brash and loud, Fortress-world born Kirkaid is a unique presence on the Vigilance. His loudness is only matched by his skill at both ship piloting and sharpshooting. While difficult to deal with, his position as the head pilot and Flight Marshal is secured for the far future.
Tau Fire Warrior Seeker (Seeker): Token Xenos. Seeker is a definite rarity in the Koronus Expanse. Technologically proficient, highly knowledgeable, and packing very powerful xenos weaponry, he's earned a spot on Captain Victrix's personal retinue with his selfless adherence to his "Greater Good" mantra despite the distrust of the more vocal members of the crew.
Enemies and Rivals:
Lucretia Khan: Member of the Khan Rogue Trader dynasty and primary rival to Tristan. The Khans have been locked in a blood feud with the Victrix family for generations and Lucretia seeks Tristan out to make him atone for 'crimes' against her family. Confident, intelligent, and utterly ruthless, she's willing to go to any length to get what she wants. She is also responsible for the deaths of Tristan's previous retinue prior to the start of the campaign.
Koran Gerrit: Pirate, slaver, cold-trader, psychopath. A former agent to the Khans, the party encountered Gerrit early on in the campaign after he crippled a Mechanicus pilgrim vessel and enslaved everyone on board before taking Tristan prisoner. Gerrit has proven a persistent presence in Tristan's life since then and sees himself as a friendly-enemy to the younger inexperienced Tristan. The Joker to Tristan's Batman essentially. Tristan however does not share this sentiment and hates Gerrit for his sadistic ways. The party has sought out Gerrit for his assistance to rescue Tristan from Lucretia's hands before she ends up killing him.
Former Explorers:
Master Enginseer Lazeras: The sole Mechanicus of the Captain's retinue, he tragically lost his life fighting Gerrit's assassins early on in the campaign. The Master Enginseer position has been vacant since then.
High Factotum Geoffrey Bayford: Former factotum to Gerrit, Geoffrey rebelled against his captain and assisted the party in freeing Tristan from imprisonment on Gerrit's ship and escaped with them. His freedom from Gerrit was cut short when the party handed Geoffrey over to Gerrit to ensure his assistance in their mission to save Tristan.
Arch-Militant, Master at Arms Cecil Sawyer (Altore): Tristan's former Executive Officer who dual-wielded a pair of storm bolters to devastating effect. Recently abandoned the ship following Tristan's capture and revealed his true identity. Cecil Sawyer is actually Felix Yolande, a notorious ciminal with a notable bounty on his head. After his flight the party encountered him again in the presence of Gerrit, a contact of his. Now seemingly in the employ of Gerrit, he's going to participate in the rescue of his former captain.
Anybody interested can pm my Skype at craptastic-13 and send me a message. I'll get you in contact with my GM and we can go from there. Cheers!
