Also, I have read that weapon drops like secondaries and primaries are rare to non-existent on hard mode Crota. Is this true? I will say I don't recall getting a non-primary drop on hard mode .
only primaries drop in Hard Mode Crota. special and heavies from only Crota on Normal.

Its not really a smart design that you have to back down to normal in order to get secondary weapons, I still only got one Machinegun and one Rocket Launcher, but 3 Word of Crota and 2 Fangs.
The weapons distribution overall, was better in VoG.
Banged out a solo nightfall this morning using my armor piercing Arc LDR combined regenerating ammo from Icebreaker. Used the room with the windows that allow you to jump through but that stop bullets...unless they are armor piercing sniper rounds.
So broken. That room is going to be patched ASAP I would imagine.
Got a long term alternative/goth band rocket launcher, The Cure. It's an Arc with Surplus, Perfect Balance/Single Point Sling/Field Scout, and Grenadier. Not great, but it's a FWC item and has a nostalgia name for me. So I might hang onto it for a little while. My Arc launcher needs are satisified mostly by my Radegast's Fury with prox detonation.
And I'm leaning more and more toward clearing out my duplicates due to the change with the website and app both allowing me to change weapons on the fly. That's the real space magic. Might be saying bye bye to my duplicate Last Word and Thorns. Hell, maybe even my duplicate Icebreakers...although that would feel weird, honestly.

3 Abyss defiants
2 words of crota
1 Fang of Ir Yut
1 Hunger of Crota
Since I have no interest in the Crux, I'd rather get Swordbreaker, the LMG, fusion rifle, etc.

So I've been playing a lot of Dragon Age: Inquisition while I've been away from Destiny. And goddamn if that game just doesn't put the complete and total lie to everything Bungie has done with Destiny.
I mean, the starting area in that game, the Hinterlands, which is one of like, 15 that I've unlocked so far, is basically the same size and more densely packed with quests than every area in Destiny combined. The game has crafting, maybe 50 or 60 different enemy types I've seen so far, story, incredible voice acting, insane graphics, no grinding, one currency, actual progression, etc. etc. Also, checking in on the single player campaign from the Halo:MCC doesn't do Bungie's current disaster any favors either.
Going off to play something else that takes full advantage of the next gen stuff and then comparing it to what we got in Destiny just makes you... sad. I dunno, I'm not trying in any way shape or form to bag on anyone for playing Destiny, but I cannot recommend enough wandering away from the game for a bit and experiencing the joyful revelation that is videogames that don't actively hate and punish you.
I'll check in with House of Wolves, but only because I already paid for it. I don't expect it to either fix any of the severe problems with this game or make me interested in sinking in tons of time again. Like those of you still playing, I can see the bones of what could have been a console generation defining experience, but I've just completely gotten to the point where I don't want to bang my head against the wall of what it actually is anymore. Especially not when I can go play other games that DID get everything right.
TL;DR: good luck and have fun guys. I'm out this bitch, peace.
EDIT: to more clearly explain my comment about Halo:MCC, the campaign in Halo: CE is both longer and more complex and creative than the campaign in Destiny, even counting the raids and Dark Below, which is just... insane on a very large number of levels.

I get it and we all feel some of the same way. If your bungie.net profile is correct, you've put 116 hours on your warlock, 255 on your Titan, and 126 on your hunter into Destiny presumably having fun. It's perfectly fine to be done with a game, and that doesn't diminish the previous 500 hours of fun. I can't even imagine DA:I holding someone's interest for 500 hours.
So I ranked up Dead Orbit last night and got the third out of four shaders they offer. From the beginning I've only really wanted Revenant. Guess which one is the only one I don't have now?

Out of curiosity, what rank are you with Dead Orbit?
I am rank 27 on my Titan and they have only given me Bitter Steel.

39 on my Warlock (which is where all the shaders I've received have come from) (Ranks 19-39 all earned post-TDB)
7 on my Titan (all post-TDB)
I'm also at Cryptarch 65/20 on the same Warlock/Titan respectively.
EDIT: The order in which I received the shaders was Bittersteel, The Hanged Man, Bittersteel again, The Nowhere. The Nowhere is the first shader I received post-TDB.
I'm thinking about leveling New Monarchy for the shaders but that also sounds like a lot of work for a high chance of getting nothing.
It'd be great if I had a use for all these vendor commendations I have. Being able to use them to buy shaders would be great! Which will never ever happen. At this point I'd happily pay a few dollars for some of the faction shaders.
I haven't bothered with faction rep for a while, but I want to make sure I have enough crucible commendations to buy all my characters tower armor come next DLC.
Future War Cult for my titan and New Monarchy for my warlock and hunter.
How I seem to work it is whenever I rank up in Vanguard or Crucible, I see if my faction rank is higher than the level I got to on the "change over". If so, I switch to the faction, otherwise I don't equip it. Basically, I look to see which one, Faction or Vanguard/Crucible, has the lowest amount to level up and go with that.
Tends to keep the amount low, now that I think on it. I haven't felt the need to rank up any faction too strongly, save Dead Orbit with my Hunter.
My vanguard and crucible rank is something ridiculous so I recently started leveling Dead Orbit as well. Mostly because those are the best shaders, but also because they have the best faction cloaks.
In a bit I'm going to camp out Skywatch for that Urzok quest step if anyone's interested. Either before or after that I'm going to knock out Nightfall as well.
So, wait... the long ass Eris urn quest merely grants a pair of gauntlets that aren't any better than what you can get via the factions? What a waste of time/effort.
Is there an easy way to get element damage primaries, or is that relegated to raid legendaries and a few exotics? I can rely on Murmur and Ice Breaker for solar and arc, but I'd really like to get a void primary.

While the Eris storyline did have some grindy parts it was one of the better complete questlines in the game, and one that actually gives a good reward at the end. Yes, the gauntlets may not be worth anything to you if you already have faction stuff, but don't forget Eris' gloves are free, great for people gearing new characters, or if you don't have 33 light capable gauntlets to reach LL30+. For a few hours of work you get a great fusion rifle and a potentially very nice/useful set of gauntlets. My soon to be 20 Hunter doesn't yet have a set of 33 gauntlets or chest, so those gauntlets are an easy way to get her geared more quickly for NM Crota.
Elemental primaries are only available in Vaunt of Glass and Crota.

Raids are the only place to get elemental primaries. Even the two Primary Exotics that have elemental damage (Vex Mythoclast, Necrochasm) are Raid drop only. And in fact, the only ones that aren't locked behind Raid HARD Modes are Atheon's Epilogue (Void, Auto Rifle) and Visions of Confluence (Solar, Scout Rifle) which can drop from Atheon on Normal.

Nah, the Crucible shaders are all named after historical/mythological heroes:
Achilles
Beowulf
Cicero
Gilgamesh
FWC shaders are named after places where battles took place and a year (?) designation:
Babylon 9191
Carthage 0100
Ninevah 8611
Tyre 4770
New Monarchy shaders are named after (surprise, surprise) monarchs/leaders/deities:
Amalthea
Cleopatra AK
Nefertiti AK
Themisto
