We got married in November and we're trying to get our budget locked down to afford a new home

As such, we're repeating last year's strategy of celebrating a couple days early

makes the hotel room like 5x cheaper!

Oh god, I love my girlfriend to death.

But she is very insistent on marriage after 4 years.

I understand, but it scares me.

i haven't been in a serious relationship in years, and it's mostly worked out okay!

i'll be in Japan over valentines day hanging out with a bunch of people i don't know doing god knows what, so i won't really have to think about being alone

    so that's pretty cool!

Oh hey a new love thread, these are fun

I'm basically single but that's fine, very lazily doing the online dating thing because I don't often feel lonely or whatever

v-day plans probably play video games??? maybe find some other single person to have fun with

    PANCAKE DAY!!!

I had no idea it was called that in English. We call it Fat Tuesday, and we eat these:

That is highly relevant because I spend so much time eating those that I'm basically in a serious relationship with them.

"Time spent eating" is a good metric for relationship seriousness, I think.

I will honour Fat Tuesday in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

years ago there was this one valentine's day I was single on, so these two friends of mine, a couple, were like "yo we're takin' you out for v-day"

so we went and played lasertag

    it was pretty boss

  • Options

I have been dating a fantastic lady for about 4 months now

But she has 2 jobs and then does like 8 other things and also lives a good distance away from me so I rarely get to see her

I have ~plans~ for a potential Valentine's Day but who knows if I'll actually be able to put them to work

There's a pro wrestling tournament coming to town! My colleague is a huge WWW (or whatever) fan, so when he found this out he got really excited and we put it in the company calendar.

A weird relationship thing I never see mentioned is when your significant other meets your sweet, tiny, 90-pound grandmother and the first thing grandma does is drop her voice to a menacing tone and threaten to come after the significant other should anything ever happen to you.

Or maybe that event isn't that common.

    Just me?

    What's a love life?

And where can I download it?

I'm a little bit upset about how much better this post is than anything I would have come up with.

I've heard stories like that, but my grandmothers died decades ago.

My dad made a point of cleaning his shotguns the first time my sister brought a boyfriend home. And my 87 year old grandfather WILL try to break his kids/grandkids SO's hands during the obligatory 'nice to meet you' handshake.

I laugh when people try that with me because my hands are almost always bigger than theirs

    I think I want a relationship
But I am not in a place where I could manage either
Very little time and resources, not living on my own, brain spiders, etc.

But fuck if I won't feast on the chocolate harvest the day after

Dating someone would be fun, but finding someone is so much work. I'm too content being single and lazy.

A lady in my class seemed to be flirting with me yesterday though, so that's cool.

I think I'd like to date.

But then I remember that I can barely keep from screaming at my own image in the mirror anymore.

    I wouldn't be a fun date.

I'm pretty sure the girl I'm interested in feels the same way but I am dumb as a rock when it comes to signals. Figure I'll ask her out for Valentines and see what happens.

i tried okcupid for a little bit because a handful of my friends have had luck with it and they said i should give it a shot

    sent some messages

got a few replies, only one of which was "get a haircut"

looked at them for a few minutes and then just deleted the account

dating's occupying the same mental space as, i dunno, driving a manual transmission, i just can't imagine trying to pick it up at my age

valentine's day will be...climbing? and then watching tv? maybe? who knows
