Darkest Dungeon - The Deepest Wounds Leave No Scars
Ruin has come to our family.
You remember our venerable house, opulent and imperial. Gazing proudly from its stoic perch above the moor.
I lived all my years in that ancient rumor-shadowed manor, fattened by decadence and luxury, and yet I began to tire of conventional extravagance. Singular unsettling tales suggested the mansion itself was a gateway to some fabulous and unnameable power.
With relic and ritual I bent every effort towards the excavation and recovery of those long-buried secrets, exhausting what remained of our family fortune on swarthy workmen and sturdy shovels.
At last, in the salt-soaked crags beneath the lowest foundations, we uncovered that damnable portal of antediluvian evil!
Our every step unsettled the ancient earth. Hideous rotting aggressor assailed us from the shadows! We drew what strength we could from our companionship, but we were in a realm of death and madness.
In the end, I alone fled laughing and wailing through those blackened arcades of antiquity, until consciousness failed me.

My Crusader went insane last night and became bulimic. My Vestal decided that flagellation was a little too effective and became a masochist and my Hellion was left at the brothel and refused to stop fucking all the guys when we came back.

There are aspects to the combat balancing that definitely still need a lot of tweaking, and currently there's not really any story progression. But on the whole a pretty well polished product for being early access

I don't want or need story progression. Everything currently in the game story-wise is more than enough for me.
Yeah I'm not expecting much on that front, maybe some more of that fantastic narration and a wrapup cinematic upon beating the final zone boss or something when the game's complete. Mostly pointed that out to inform folks that the game is mostly going through similarly arranged dungeons repeatedly in order to engage in the game systems and progress characters. Not a bad thing, as those systems are fun and rewarding. When the game has the full 5 zones, and hopefully a lot more boss types, it'll help a lot with filling out the meat of the game

I would be VERY surprised if you don't get some cutscenes for beating bosses, yeah.
Plus the narration as you go through is just so so so good. It's like the story is told as you do it.

also you have a town with which to manage things like your character's sanity, sometimes swapping dudes out because they need to chill out in the brothel for a while, for example
you'll recruit, progress, and have to manage the sanity of characters while upgrading your town to be able to further progress those characters. Also those characters will die and the game will punch you in the face

I sent Dubh to the brothel and when I came back the game said her debauchery had reached "new heights" and her whereabouts are unknown. She's no longer in my roster, and isn't occupying any building in town.

Y. You use the mouse for everything (other than like 2 keyboard clicks to get past the opening of the game), and there's no time sensitivity to the gameplay
There's keyboard hotkeys but you don't need them and they aren't actually any easier than using the mouse

the Vestal keeps 'em healed, the hunters double as tanks with one hunter marking for death while the other executes (and they can both pull pesky ranged attackers to the front), and the Leper buffs up their defenses and then just WAILS HARD DAMAGE on whomever
