I would say that the tone of the subsequent strips will depend on Claire's reaction when Marten inevitably reveals his true reptilian humanoid, "reptoid", self
Based on the door, Marten is leaving his apartment and Pintsize politely closed it for him.
nah they twirled around in panel 2!
Yeah, it's a bad transition. Panel 1 is from inside the apartment, Panel 2 has no frame of reference, Panel 3 and 4 are now from the outside of the apartment entrance.
He also drew those pretty rapid-fire, IIRC. Didn't like a lot of things about the designs himself, like Black Canary's unilegs.
I drew them very quickly, very late at night, and kind of hated it when they became popular because I really didn't think about them that much.
I think that's why they work, a lot of redesigns are too elaborate to be plausibly something that could become emblematic - it needs to be simple enough that another artist with other priorities would nonetheless consider it as a way of cranking out stuff on a deadline.

WAIT A MINUTE
ARE YOU TELLING ME JEPH JACQUES MADE A POORLY LAID OUT COMIC
She was mistaken for a boy because the dog people can't tell the sex of her people just by looking at them, and (if I remember) being a girl among the dog people was considered more dangerous - one of her elders may have even presented her as a boy when she was taken
I don't know how the gender dynamic among Vattu's people even works
I'm still perturbed by how quick the priest is on the uptake. Slave raids must not actually be unknown to them.
I think it's more because Vanni (the priest) and Vattu don't like each other and Vanni wanted to get rid of Vattu. He's definitely resented Vattu since her infancy. There's a scene where the Priestess and one of the Fluters discuss the possibility of traveling again. There's concern that Vattu will wind up disabled from the move, like Vanni apparently was when he was younger. But it's decided that Vattu will become stronger from the move. After hearing this, when the adults leave Vanni tells an infant Vattu she has no name, no mark, is worthless, and then swipes mud on Vattu's forehead.
And after Vanni succeeds the Priestess, Vattu tells Vanni that Vanni "is no Priest" and runs off. When Vattu returns, Vanni claims Vattu is a boy, and hands her over to the Dog Species.

He's a demon the author has expressly said represents himself in every way
Jimmy is the author insert, and everything he does reflects what, presumably, that same author would do in the same situation.
It is a comic about an amoral individual from a self-proclaimed amoral individual. Jimmy is the hero in this story. There isnt going to be any subtext about how wrong and awful he is. He's going to be "right" the entire comic, killing endless amounts of innocent people.
It's pretty fucked up, and the title being "Demon" doesn't get it a free pass imo.

haha that's completely stupid. i had just been skimming over it because its art resembles the scrawlings of a six year old

okay so not every webcomic should be Demon, but Sam's cluelessness here is starting to grate a bit
20 buxx she ends up possessing a player and causing a scene
maybe I grossly misread what Vattu said
but didn't she correct someone's gendering on her
is she a trans babe
ah man, I hope I didn't misread it
Twitch (I stream most days of the week)
Twitter (mean leftist discourse)
Marten's apartment complex was designed by Ivo Shandor
She's mistaken for a boy a lot (was the reason she was initially taken from her village) but she's been a girl from the start of the comic at least.
Chapter 1 of A Redtail's Dream
She was mistaken for a boy because the dog people can't tell the sex of her people just by looking at them, and (if I remember) being a girl among the dog people was considered more dangerous - one of her elders may have even presented her as a boy when she was taken
I don't know how the gender dynamic among Vattu's people even works
But no, she is not apparently trans
But my brain can't stop seeing them as mouths
Yeah people not of their race have difficulty telling them apart much less their sex.

now lead
If I wanted to read a comic populated by misanthropes I'd start reading Something Positive again.
