I am so sick of teams on Garden of Terror. Seeds don't mean shit compared the millions of merc camps, but nope. GOTTA BE THAT TERROR. No wonder games take so fucking long for most people on here.
Eh, the terror is quite strong if used well either by a concentrated push with your team or harassing unguarded structures in other lanes if the enemy is actually defending against a push. But seed collection from the small terrors is so much more efficient than the throwing yourself against the big terror while your team is still split up that many seem to favor.
I didn't realize such awful players could possibly exist. I seriously was praying for disconnects.
There are some truly clueless players out there. I take some solace in knowing they're being awful but hopefully learning at least a little in the co-op games I used to grind out dailies during the week and not in versus matches.
Had a co-op game last night that went to 25 minutes largely due to a very confused and obviously new Raynor player. I thought he was having serious connection problems at first due to how seldom the player moved or attacked. He did try to stick close to someone else with more experience that game but unfortunately chose to follow around a Lost Viking's player that also seemed to be getting used to the hero, which is a perfectly good use of a co-op game but one of the most confusing things for a newer player to follow.
So I finally got a couple of my friends to get out of their garrisons and play this with me yesterday. We started off with a few coop games to give them a chance to get the hang of the game, and after they felt comfortable with their heroes we decided to try out some Quick Matches. We were communicating really well, coordinating ganks, doing great target switching in teamfights. We managed our map movements, grabbed mercs at opportune moments, grouped for objectives. We were trying really hard, and it felt so good. We stomped three or four games in a row and had such a rush of accomplishment and pride.
We had 9 wins in a row sunday.... seems obvious we get 4 losses in a row monday. maybe we actually got into a higher league. At least we won one game, before losing the 6th...

Temple is uncontested. Valla sits there in lane like a dolt.
"Get on temple." I say.
Valla sits in lane like a dolt.
By the time she gets on it, enemy Valla and Stitches are back and take it. She complains that she wasn't about to a 1v4, even though the fucking temple was untapped the entire time. I'm sure the enemy team was just sitting off to the left waiting for you to try and take it.
Players so bad, they're hallucinating.

Reminds me of a similar game I had on Dragon Shire. Our Raynor's top lane, enemy controls the shrine. Raynor, instead of capping the shrine, is pushing top lane. I tell him to go cap the shrine. Enemy team grabs bottom shrine now. I tell him again, go cap the shrine. He's pushing the lane still. I ping the shrine three times cause what the fuck else am I gonna do, I was dead.
Enemy team grabs the Dragon Knight, proceeds to fucking annihilate us.
I tell the Raynor that he could've grabbed the Shrine way long ago to prevent a capture.
So I love specialists, and hate winning. Consequently I am trying to decide between Murky and Lost Vikings. I am not the best at micro, but I can manage well enough. Murky sounds like the most fun you can have trolling 9 other people. Help me thread. Which goofy specialist is the best and most fun?

Really? Every game I play the first thing everyone does is mop up all the little guys cause they can be easily soloed. And then everyone mills about team-fighting and such till a group gets together and kills a big guy.

When I'm unlocking a new hero in co-op, I try to yell general instructions and such cause I figure it might help new people. Just stuff like "Go mines, let's get skulls" or "Grab a temple!" or something.
So yeah, HOTSLog stats lololol, but it still feels good watching my own personal progress with it. I went from a terrifying sea of losses, to kinda 50/50 to, well:
I'm getting confident enough in my own abilities that I'm now just having fun leveling random heroes to five and still managing to do solidly with em. I've almost got 7k gold banked again and debating who I wanna buy next. I really enjoy Diablo, but Radgar is right at the same price point. I'm also considering going for Hammer because dakkadakkadakka. Decisions, decisions.
Have you tried Zagara? I really like her because I feel like she's good at a lot of stuff. Pushing/sieging check! Soloing merc camps check! Good teamfighting, check! Can 1v1 people check! Basically has free wards in a game without wards check!
I know you're asking about Murky and Vikings but I haven't played either one so I can't really help with that. As far as trolling the other team goes, I think you're probably right that Murky would be the pick just based on my experience playing against him. Thought the Vikings are a real pain in the ass too, 'cause they just clog up the screen.

The other day I had a Valla that died once in the mines, blamed it on the team and then refused to enter the mines for the rest of the game after going "haha there's no report in this game, what ya gonna do?"
So I told the team just where the report function is. Then Valla decided to just go and feed as much as possible.
Somehow we managed to win that game anyway. Still reported Valla.
I have no idea if reports actually lead to anything as it currently stands.
Has anyone else noticed performance issues after the latest patch? My computer is a bit on ye olde side, but used to run HotS smoothly before the patch. Now I've been having FPS drops and micro-freezes that seem like they'd be CPU and/or memory related, because sometimes the sound stutters as well. Mostly happens when fights are going on, often at the very moment someone gets killed, even if I'm not looking at the brawl for some reason. Tried reducing graphics settings with a focus on CPU-intensive settings, but accomplished nothing.
@Bliss 101 are you running the 32 or 64 bit client? Have you tried disabling the shadow related graphic options?
I will periodically get really awful games, usually if I need to alt+tab in as the game starts, but for the most part I am seeing less CPU spikes and stable ram usage.
64 bit. I think? I'll have to check when I get home from work. I think I already tried disabling all shadow-related stuff. Apparently some people have been able to fix similar issues by turning Sound Quality down, which never occurred to me, so I guess I'll give that a try as well.
Changing the sound options is a new one, havent seen that suggested as a fix before. I mention the client version since I've seen that in several places as the root of the issue.

Murky is fun! I can't vouch for TLV... they look fun too, but also really tiring to play.

There was a bug in vanilla Diablo 3 that was similar. Basically the game was trying to utilize hundreds of separate sound channels that no typical consumer sound hardware could handle and cause crashes out the wazoo. It also didn't play well with 7.1 sound for a while either.
I guess my point here is that I wouldn't disbelieve anyone stating that turning down sound quality increases performance.

I remember that Devil May Cry 3 had some wonky performance issues related to the music so a common thing was to straight up delete the music files entirely to make the game run better.

Wasn't trying to doubt the validity. I just hadn't heard that as a fix before.

Oh not just D3. It's been a thing in SC2 and WoW as well at times (I used to raid with my sound muted to help along an aging computer). Basically if you have shitty performance, killing the sound is always a safe bet for Blizzard games.

I've found them perfectly viable if your micro isn't super solid and need to keep them grouped up more often than not. When running them as a group they're very easy to play. I can split them up in the early game, but once the teamfights start I have to keep them together.
Bit of a long watch, but it's worth it to see some high level Azmo play. The build he's using is crazy fucking nuts, dunking people for 1k plus damage is insane. The build in question, btw: http://www.heroesfire.com/hots/talent-calculator/azmodan#gsHM
Idea is to just farm Taste for Blood stacks. Ideally you have a lane buddy helping you out early game. Tass is best, his W puts minions low enough for your Q to finish them off. By the time late game rolls around you're a goddamn monster. Constant map pressure by oneshotting minion waves. Which you don't even have to be in lane to do. Extremely safe, huge aoe damage in teamfights from your Q. You don't even have to be in the teamfight itself.
I was gonna post that =\
But yeah, apparently you need teammates to help you to set up in the early game or you'd just get 200 bonus dmg on average, which isn't as good.
The map is important as well. You need to be able to farm two lanes for dmg stacks
I constantly play against the same small group of players, so I know that MMR is working in matchmaking. I really wish I had some way of communicating with those players when they're on the opposing team, however. Like, there's this 5-man squad I go up against constantly. They work really well together. They always have a well-balanced composition. They're very competent, and we always have good games against each other. I'd really, genuinely like to be able to talk to them or add them to my friend's list, so that we can play some games together, for once.
Is there any way to do that? If so, I haven't figured it out.

Because otherwise he'll have nothing to do, what with taking down an enemy in three hits.

I did so intentionally, actually. I'm a policy analyst by training, and direct democracy is godawful. Just ask California.
This isn't exactly the thread to discuss that, though.
