I'm going to make a team tonight. Looking for people who:
1. Will play fairly regularly. No need to play every day or commit to any particular times, but I'd like to get games in every other night or so at least.
2. Will not be critical of other people. This team isn't for competing for top spot in the rankings, it's just for fun.
I also would like suggestions for team names, because I am terrible at that kind of thing. I'll just go with Heroes of the Wang if nobody comes up with anything else.

So, who wants in?
I'm interested but I would humbly request that, despite its traditional usage, we refrain from using "wang" in the name or acronym or whatever.
I may get shouted down and that's fine, but I'm a bit weary of it. It seems tasteless and kind of exclusionary, two things I would argue we are largely not here on the forums. Even having the chat channel named as such kind of bothers me.
We're cleverer than that.
But like I said, just my silly opinion and if I'm downvoted, I'll live.
I mean I understand the nerfs to some of the upper tier heroes like Stitches and Valla, but damned if I won't be sad when I'm playing these various heroes where some of my favorite talents were nerfed/removed.

Need suggestions then though! Penny Arcade Forum Fun Team?

Like Jaina was given even more wombo combo power, when that was never a weakness of hers. The only TLV change at all was a small nerf to Longboat damage. Thrall was weirdly changed to be even more mana inefficient and his mana regen talent was nerfed (granted, I pretty much never took anything else). A whole bunch of shit was done to Uther, but I don't really know to what end/net effect. I thought it was mostly just Divine Storm/ghost form that were a problem. On the other hand, they gave him Resurgence (sort of)!

It took me all of 5 minutes in TRY mode before I did.
Am I weak, or is she just that awesome?
Play cowardly - she's pretty squishy and her default "escape" is slow and unwieldy without talents, so keep in mind that without talents if you overcommit you're probably going to die.

Haha, that's the complete opposite of how I play her. I play aggressively as FUCK with her. She has tons and tons of burst. Take the 25% damage amp on your W, then unload a full 5-charge Q into someone. Watch that health bar disappear.
I find that her E is actually pretty good, you just can't use it the same way you'd use other escape tools. Use it pre-emptively, not reactionarily. Think ahead of time of where you want to go with it. I don't take any of her E talents either. The teleport travels pretty quickly and she's also Unstoppable during it as well.
Worst come to worst, you can juke people with it by actually not even teleporting. I had a Falstad chase me, so I sent my E above, towards my Towers. He started chasing my E... except I never teleported so I managed to get away with very low health.

How about Penny Arcade Hotsteppers? Or just The Hotsteppers?
Illidan is pretty rigid as well, except that you've got dealers pick of ults, level 20 talents, and you can make an argument for Stoneskin if their highest HP hero is Malfurion.
Nah, Illidan is more fluid comparatively. Sure, there are a bunch of crap talents but IMO, there's definitely a choice depending on the enemy team comp: Lvl 1(shadow shield vs seasoned marksman), Lvl 13(Giant Killer vs Sixth Sense), Lvl 16(BfB or Stone Shield), Lvl 20. Both his ults are viable too.
Its hard to even make that kind of choice for the majority of the other heroes. I've only really strayed from one build on a small number of heroes and most of them are support
I don't think there's ever a situation I'd ever take marksman or giant killer. Marksman is theoretically good on Illidan, especially with Metamorphisis, but you have to give up shield to do it, and shield is a free 10% HP block every time it pops up, and in long fights it can pop up more than five times. Especially lategame, Illidan's limiting factor is how long he can safely hit the enemy, not how fast he can kill them, so Marksman would rarely offer any benefit. Giant Killer is interesting if you absolutely need to kill high HP heroes, but Illidan rarely needs to focus his fire on the most durable hero first, and those heroes can take imposing presence, which makes hitting them pretty suicidal.
Like, I've played with both of those talents, but there's just no situation I really find them that worth it; Illidan needs durability, and making evasion block 10% of your max HP and halve the enemies initial burst when you enter a fight are both huge compared to a decent DPS increase.

I play pretty frequently (outside of the last and upcoming week, due to work travel)
So room for 4 more. I'm going to make the team Penny Arcade Hotsteppers, unless somebody chimes in with any other ideas, or a preferred variation on that.
Possession is odd because Sylvanas is definitely in the "I can push pretty well but I play like an weird assassin" group (other members: Hammer, Nazeebo), and she can't really talent to just dominate with afk pushing (past the one that lets her remove all ammo from buildings in five seconds). So there's not a whole lot of reason to take the ultimate that requires you to sit in the lane for fifteen seconds, but gives you double sized, 2.5X power creep waves.
Now, when a Sylvanas does AFK push to do that, it can be really annoying to clear those megawaves as certain heroes, and it pretty much guarantees the enemy team has to start on their back foot if they want to push with a wave (instead of just using their sylvanas to ignore towers), but it's not that big of a deal. It's obnoxious and even if it is powerful (it very well could be if an escape/afk focused Sylvanas turned out to be strong), it's such non-obvious power it wouldn't feel satisfying.
We lost a lot of teammates that would have been winnable if I could silence people. And while jacking catapults definitely helps compensate for losing a keep, Wailing Arrow is just fucking amazing.
Also I think stealing spiderlings in Tomb will give you enemies gems? That made me feel shitty.
It's basically just Mecha-Goblin 2.0. You can do a lot of work with it, but you have to know your gameplan if you're going to do that; your team is just going to be straight up weaker in teamfights, but if you can play a coordinated game and delay, you'll get the equivalent of two or three regular heroes pushing lanes. The problem is that there aren't any maps built for Possession like Cursed Hollow is for Mecha Goblin, and while Gazlowe only needs to be unsafe in the brief period it takes to grab merc camps, Sylvanas probably wants to stay with the wave as long as possible to keep the death-wave growing.
Like, it's probably workable if you take what tower and minion destruction talents you can scrounge and if you let your team know your gameplan and to not expect to win fights, but that's a big if with pubs, who never seem to avoid fights.

Traditionally we've used things like Fancy Lads or Candymancers and the like when it comes to name more permanent institutions. Wang referencing names tend to be for more temporary affairs.
so uther is still really good. i love benediction. hardened focus is nice but 2x holy light is so so good.
edit: spirit can't dick with people with stuns and stuff, but the heal is so powerful now. it's really hard for a single target to die through any reasonable amount of burst with ghost uther.
So I have enough gold for both murkymand sylv. The only reason for sylv is bc she's a specialist.
I wonder if the xp needed to get a hero past lv 10 is going to be as excruciating and more as it was to get to 10.
Hopefully they curved it out based on total xp needed overall.
looks like ~5m for 11. so, yea. they are clearly intended to be levels you don't think about getting, but just sort of happen over long periods of time.

Think like the 500 wins in HS for a golden class, really. Just ways your numbers can go arbitrarily high.

Not sure about the mechanics, but the art sure is disappointing on the Spider Queen map. It's just the Sky Temple stuff with the brightness turned down.
In addition to the art, they really rushed the layout as well. The 2 bruiser camps have a steam vent next to them that you can just stand in and shoot the mercs all day; you're invisible to them and they will ignore you as you kill them.

Eh. I find Grav-O-Bomb to be not that great and the lvl 20 upgrade to Mecha-Goblin can wreck some face in late game team-fights and the initial skill makes you a goddamn machine at killing everything else. Gazlowe can practically solo your core if you aren't careful.

Grav-O-Bomb not that great? It can stunlock an entire enemy team if you place it right. It's incredible, it can turn teamfights around in an instant.
