I forgot to copy the dawnguard.esm off when I backing stuff up. So long benefiting from Steam screwups I guess...

Really enjoying that Beggar's Row gambling mod.

Think I may have developed a nasty addiction to Skyrim's version of cock fighting though.

I used to be a noble orc warrior, now I'm putting gold down on diseased rats to tear each other to pieces....gods, what has become of me?

Should I bother with Bloodmoon in Morrowind at all?

I feel like I'm already gonna go to Solthsheim in Skyrim when I play it, so why on earth would I experience it in ~GLORIOUS LOW RESOLUTION~ beforehand? Also I don't care about werewolves at all. Will I miss anything if I skip it?

Raven Rock is pretty fun, but then i'm a sucker for town building in RPGs. Maybe just a little wander around it for the contrast of how it's different in Dragonborn?

There's basically two quest lines. Building Raven Rock is fun, but there is this annoying thing where you sometimes have to wait a couple of days between quests. Plus it gives you the best player house in my opinion.

The main quest isn't anything amazing and the final dungeon has a massive difficulty spike for purely the sake of being difficult. It might be better if you intended to be a werewolf, but there really isn't anything worthwhile if you aren't.

Well, Skyrim now crashes on any save attempt with my current character. Manual saves, quicksaves, autosaves when entering/exiting areas, they all CTD instantly. I removed all of my recently-added mods, tried the game script cleaner, tried the "let yourself die" trick, nothing makes a difference. The oldest save I have for this character (only a couple levels ago) does it too because I had cleared out about fifty old saves not long before this started. So unless I can find a fix I guess I am forced to abandon this character.

Which really bums me out. I had extensive plans for stuff to do with her I wasn't even half finished with.

I am tempted to do Morrowind for history sake. Is there a mod that speeds up the leveling or just starts you with a high level character?

It's called the console. Though there's probably an actual mod for it as well.

Anybody want to actually make suggestions on how I might be able to fix this? Sorry to be a grump but I'm not really in a humorous mood about this right now.

My latest save brings up the "Relies on content that is no longer present..." message when I start it up, which seems odd as I can't think of any mods I've uninstalled since I created that save.

    The sequence of events is:

    1. Gaslight makes a save and then does not play Skyrim for the past week or so.
    2. Today Gaslight installs some new mods (Sewers of Skyrim and a couple others) through NMM.
    3. Gaslight loads up his most recent save (which is at Skyborn Altar incidentally, and nowhere near any of the areas that seem like they should be affected by the new mods). "This save relies on content that is no longer present..." message appears. Game now crashes on any attempt to save through any method.
    4. Gaslight uninstalls all the new mods he installed today through NMM.
    5. Savegame still CTD's on every save attempt.

There doesn't seem to be any variable/change that actually caused this to happen which is what frustrates me.

Edit: So in desperation I used NMM to deactivate every single installed mod... and the game now saves again without issue.

Which means I have to reinstall each individual mod I had one at a time until the problem reappears to find the source of the problem I guess? Holy fuck. Was I just lucky nothing like this has ever happened to me until now?

Did you rebuild your bashed patch and all that? Were you using the game's auto save and quick save features?

Most people use stuff like CASM and Auto Save Manager in Bethesda games becuase Bethesda's quick/auto saves seem to get easily corrupted/screwed up.

so I just grabbed Oblivion for a few bucks so that I can play it on PC with mods for a more enjoyable experience (I gave up on the game on X360)

does anyone know the best mods to install if I just want to get rid of the auto-leveled enemies, items, and what not? I don't really have any interest in graphical mods for now

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is the big one. Be aware that it is very easy to get yourself killed going to a city that used to be safe at low levels.

I don't do bashed patches. Yes quick and auto saves were turned on.

I have now reactivated everything so all of the exact same mods are installed that were installed before, except now everything is inexplicably fine. I believe I have narrowed the source of the problem down to something SkyUI was doing (don't ask me how I deduced that, a Ouija board may have been involved) but I still don't know what that something was. And having your game fucked up by SkyUI, that's just like... the Et tu, Brute? moment of mod problems.

But the good news everything is back to working OK, the bad news is now I am just waiting for the next sudden betrayal.

I also learned that Expanded Towns and Cities crashes my game instantly, totally separate from the other thing. So, if you can get that mod to run, good for you I guess, it looks nice, but it appears I'll be rolling JK's mods all across the map.

This is the sort've situation I used to run into back when I still used NMM, and ended up being the reason I finally bit the bullet, sat down, and figured out how Mod Organizer works. I run with lots of mods in my Skyrim, and I found that if I tried to change/update mods, I'd often forget about tweaks I had made in the past such as patches or what-not that made mods work together, or I'd install something that edited the same file as another mod, then have to remember which I had over-writing what. I could of course have written this shit down, but who does that?

With MO, I can always see at a glance what is being over-written, change mods around to decide what goes where, and no actual files get deleted because every mod is in a separate directory. Sometimes even more importantly, I can look at a save and see what mods I might be missing that were present when I last loaded it, so I know if I accidentally disabled/deleted something while shuffling things around. MO can't prevent saves that get corrupted by script mods of course, especially not when one is removed, but it gives so much power over controlling mod installation, removal, and updating that I really could never see trying this shit without it.

I just hope it stays around for the next Bethesda game.

That's good because Oblivion can't handle much of that. I can easily run Skyrim with all kinds of craziness, but Oblivion slowed to a crawl when I tried to play it recently after modding the hell out of it.

Had a dabble in TESO over the free weekend. First time I've taken a peek since beta.

Yep, I'm still utterly jaded when it comes to MMOs. Tis a beautiful game, and for a while I loved running around Morrowind with my Argonian healer/sorcerer, explorin' and craftin' and sometimes exploding things. So pretty and mushroomy. Then the usual MMO boredom kicked in and the sites and sounds just made me want to reinstall Morrowind or fire up my most recent Skyrim playthrough again.

Mmm, Morrowind. I never did make a ridiculously overpowered character in that game. Reading @Lucid_Seraph's posts is inspiring me to try.

Ironically, playing Morrowind back in the day always felt like a single-player MMO to me. I know that people connected with the world to an amazing extent, but it never stopped feeling lifeless to me due to the NPCs and how conversation was handled.

If you're not using mod organizer and not making bashed patches and you installed new mods but didn't uninstall any previous ones and are getting a message when you try to load your save that the save relies on content that is no longer there it seems logical to suspect that one of your new mods is conflicting with something in a previous mod, possibly even overwritten something.

You should look at all your mods in TES5Edit and see where conflicts are.

There are a plethora of nexus mods that screw with files and settings that aren't even related to the actual content of the mod. Some modder is working on their mod and their mind wanders and they go to look at something in skyrim and change some little thing without even realizing they changed it and then go back to their work and next thing you know that mod now includes an undocumented change.

Like genetic errors, these are "silent" the vast majority of the time. But then there's that 1% of the time where the tiny little thing that was changed breaks something horribly.

I still don't know exactly which mod I am using that completely and utterly breaks mounted combat, but the one thing I know for sure is that it isn't a mod that has anything to do with horses at all!

Turns out there is some mod on my long list that for no justifiable reason whatsoever made a change to the base race settings of the game and thus broke shit. The only way to fix it is to track down the mod that is causing it - quite difficult with so many mods, or use a mod that just restores the vanilla race menu settings and always keep it at the very bottom of my load order (which means every time LOOT is run you need to go into the mod list and manually put it back at the very bottom because LOOT is just SOOOOO SURE that it knows where to put it even though it fucking doesn't).

Anyway. No idea if this would fix your game, but I suspect this might have at least been the cause.

And having smashed my way through Morrowind for the Nth time (where N is a number greater than 2 and lower than oh wow that's really embarrassingly large), I've just finished re-installing Skyrim. I say 'finishing re-installing Skyrim', but of course I've only gotten past cleaning my DLC esm files and installing ENB. I'm currently waiting on all of the mods Monger listed (and a couple of others) to finish their download. Then I get to tinker some more and bash them together. Yay!

I remember being Not Upset with SkyRe last time I tried (and failed) to get Skyrim plus mods working well. Is there any significant opinion on it or other significant gameplay modifications?

Probably not since this is Morrowind and the Eye of Magnus is located in Skyrim. Like I said it looks some sort of altar/magical engine or something, perhaps from House Dres.
