Ugh, the first monster I've actually been annoyed by. The Tidal Najarala (who I beat by luck the first time, apparently) has really cool ricocheting shots. But nothing else about it is fun; it's got a lot more HP than the regular Najarala, it's wrap attack hits ridiculously hard, and unlike the regular Najarala, it has basically no weak points, while the regular Najarala at least enjoyed putting it's 80% damage beak in your face. It just feels like a slog where I'm going to get punished for not having white essence up to jump out of getting wrapped.*
*I'd superman dive, but it's really hard to consistently do that when every direction is "towards" part of the monster.
G3 acquired. Gore was nasty tonight for the group I had, always at least one cart and we had a couple fails, but we all hung with it and cleared all the key quests and the urgent for everyone. I still think brachy and s zinogre is a harder fight with a lot faster "fuck we're done" and no one wants to farm that shit.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Really, Gogmazios isn't a particularly hard fight. Yet it is impossible to clear...
Thanks for the help tonight! I still need to get a better understsanding of the battlequarters map though. For one thing I never found where that Demolisher button was, though I get how the cannon there works better now.
Got my Dios Slicers. Huzzah! Now I don't need any other weapons, ever again. :P
Did they nerf blast in any way, btw? I remember in 3U it used to break parts super fast.

I don't think it breaks parts as fast, and the damage on some monsters is maybe a little lower.
Overall it's not as ridiculous as it was in 3U, but on fast weapons like the duals it's still pretty good. I like to use it whenever it's a multi-monster quest with no shared elemental weakness.
In other news multi-player is basically impossible for me currently, I'm lucky to make it through a quest without DCing. Not sure what's up, it was working perfectly just a few days ago.
Dear pugs in Teostra Biology makes you immune to the blastblight debuff making it a lot easier to not get 1 shotted. Speaking of being 1 shotted -40 fire res is just lol. But after you 2 died and quit I grabbed a gem from the shiny drop and completed via subquest.
Fuck the gathering quests. Just spent almost a full 50 minutes running around 2 areas in Sunken Hollow looking for mining nodes for Sulfur Crystals. Just back and forth hoping they respawn. The 5 minute timer came up as I was mining for the final crystal.
Spent a bit of time just doing the Fan Club Remora Removal quest over and over again farming for Striped Skin. Now I not only have both pieces of Biker Gear, but a lot more money and three skills on my gear: Adrenaline+1, Divine Blessing, and Auto-Guard.
Can never seem to kill the Tetsucabra before the Remoras die though, and I know I've gotten it to low health before because it starts taking very long pauses.
Teostra can supernova at any point 90 seconds after it rages. Count to 75 and then wail on the damn ping button while running away till people get the idea. Some still won't but it has helped me avoid instant triple carts.
Auras are disabled by poisons. This means Kushalas bs black wind and teostras flaming face.
Stay behind pink rathians right leg. Unless it's a particularly tiny one the tail goes over your head even during a twist. The feet have hit boxes so don't stand in front of them. Mounting is broken.
The G rank subspecies are actually really fun. Cephadrome still not fun.

The drop rate seems random, I too spent an hour walking in circles without anything respawning, the the nodes that did hadn't anything in them. The second run got me the the sulfur in 5 minutes.

Yeah, the one time I died to the G-rank Daora was when he hit me with a breath weapon, then immediately planted a tornado right on my ass. Died as soon as I stood up. Bastard.
But I would reiterate the poison and the mounting advice. Makes Daora a lot easier. And you'll never see anyone do either in pubs. :-P
What does the background of the bottom screen of the Guild Card look like when you hit 370 missions? I FEEL like I've just received the card, but I have no idea. I still have some of HR 5,6,7 to clear, along with a small amount of G-rank. Counting doesn't help much because there are many Advanced Missions that do not show up on the list at any given time.
@Dracil Do you know? (see above post). Also, what is the tier before the Cosmic Ticket one? I count at least 343 missions that I've cleared so far. (This number does not include hidden Advanced Quests that haven't rotated back around, which probably makes the number higher than that)
The last 4 tiers are gold, snake, white, and black.
So the book has a section on deciphering texts. G-rank monsters have a point value. E.g. Gogmazios is the highest at 80 points and kecha wacha is 10. The book doesn't actually give numbers for each letter or texr though.
After Gogmazios last night I unlocked 5 letters and after kecha wacha I unlocked another one. If each letter requires 15 points this seems to work out mathematically. But there's still some margin of error. 14 points per letter also works. But the kecha wacha rules out 16 I think. Gonna kill one more kecha wacha which should solidify the numbers (100 points total, if it's 14 I should have 7 letters otherwise it should remain at 6)
Edit: No letters after the second kecha, so confirming it's 15 points per letter.
Well, I got to ask, what do you need for multi-player right now? Because I just unlocked the hr3 urgent quest, and apparently I suck at Dahren Morran just as much as I sucked at Jhen Mohran, and could probably use some help.
There's no special requirement. Go to the map screen, hit "Solo/Multiplayer" in the bar on the top of the touch screen, and you can search for rooms or create one. Or select the Gathering Hall on the map screen and do it there.
The last 4 tiers are gold, snake, white, and black.
Like, how many missions to get each of those?
180, 220, 300, 370
Remember the quests listed on the guild card are unrelated as those just count total quests including repeats.
Yeah. I arrived at my number by physically going through and counting them. :-P I passed the 300 threshold MANY missions ago, but the background doesn't look appreciably Black to me. It's darker than the last one, to be sure. I guess I'll find out when I hit a few more Unity levels and don't get my Cosmic Ticket.
Almost everyone gets bitch slapped by Pink Rathian at first. Then you figure what needs to be done and you'll get it. Bring some flash bombs if you need to. Mostly it's just being at a 45 degrees angle from her front for my playstyle.
I've beaten in 2 times. It's just a terrible fight that is no fun.
Don't have the reflexes to time stock MH dodge rolls through anything. Tried to get Evade +1 or Evade Dist Up but it's too hard at 8* if I want to keep any armor at all.
I found pink rathian much less stressful once I started bringing a lance. Blocking with a beefy shield is much more reliable than trying to perfectly time a dodge through attacks with no startup and huge hitboxes.
With a lance specifically, you can even stop mid-combo to counter where with other weapons you'd be exposed trying to hop and then block.

Tidal naja does have weak points: its tail fan and frill. Also, have you tried diving over the narrow part of the tail, between the back legs and the fan?
The tail and frill are "weak points" that happen to still talk half as much damage as the weak points on the regular Najarala, and the Tidal also has much more HP than the regular one. It's just a really, really durable monster.
Diving is generally not a problem with height, though that can hurt so white is definitely safer. It's more of a problem that you can get hit by the spin for a minor stagger and be unable to jump in time, though I guess a well timed roll would help. I've beaten it as much as I need to now, though.

@Hahnsoo1 it's like, blue/silver lagiacrus colors honestly. If you go to the hunter's journal, you can see in the m iddle it's like a face with alternating purple/gold teeth.
I guess this is a difference of perspective. I look at 40+ hitzones as weak points, and tidal naja's fan is one such that is in easy reach almost constantly. It rotates to put that fan in front of you. Common naja does the same, but its fan is a shield rather than a target.

only need 1 more hardhorn to make the cera cymmetry. after that should be smooth sailing into g3 with crit draw/focus with sharp+1 lvl3 ing
The BaiBai Kaiser set requires basically nothing for rare parts, and I even already have the Teostra Gem.
Like 2 hours trying to kill a Kushala Daora with no progress
Are you bringing the poison weapon? Are you mounting? I mean pubs are pretty hit or miss but make sure to spearhead any extra efforts.
Can't have too much poison in that fight.
Nah no poison weapon. Was mounting as much as I could. The main problem was people with super low armor dying all the time.

When Choco and I were killing him last night, it basically came down to "don't get hit" because he did around a hundred damage a hit.
Thankfully, all his big attacks are largely easy to avoid, but because of that he's not a fight I would be thrilled to pub.
But I would reiterate the poison and the mounting advice. Makes Daora a lot easier. And you'll never see anyone do either in pubs. :-P
