IV Contrast doesn't have a taste though, it's just warm.
IV contrast isn't anywhere near the worst sensation I've had but it's fairly high up the "Seriously what the fuck" sensation wise.
Hope this latest issue clears up fast for you.

Why the hell do I need a prescription for a replacement CPAP mask?

Why the hell do I need a prescription for a replacement CPAP mask?
It's Medical Equipment and thus in order to get insurance to pay for it they need something to indicate that yes, myopic need it.
Same reason why I have prescriptions for Ostomy supplies.
It's just odd because the last time this happened it was not needed.

You possiBly had a prescription without realizing it and it just now expires
Entirely possible. I just hate dealing with these people on a good day, and now it's pouring out.

No real answer! But we're gonna add Imodium to try and slow the guy down.

hey sick puppies, I am a sick as well! I had a niche question that maybe y'all could answer. I live in the UK and take a couple of medications daily for depression. Is good stuff! And I get em for free from the NHS. That's very good stuff!
Buuuut I'm in love with an American from the USA, and plan on marrying her and going to live with her. So. How would I go about continuing to score my anti-depressants? I've heard all the horror stories about insurance and all that, but how would it work? Do I need to just bring a prescription with me from the UK, and a US pharmacist will fulfil it? How long would a UK doctor keep writing me scripts? What's a long term solution for me to keep getting my stuff? Can I even get insured, coming in with a preexisting mental illness? Will I need to pay ridiculous cash for my previously free drugs?
Oh brilliant

There is a less than zero chance for you to get foreign scripts filled here. It's hard enough to get a script from another state filled, let alone country.

With regards to all other aspects of our lives, me going to her is easier. She has a stable job, place to live, social network etc. I have none of those, really. NHS is literally the only tick in the UK column, and I dunno if it's enough to tip the scale
Good news is, it's now easier to get insurance with a pre-existing condition. I have no experience with filling foreign prescriptions, but I think you will probably run into difficulties with that.
If you or your spouse have insurance through an employer with good prescription coverage, that is the easiest way. However, that involves a good deal of luck. You can also get insurance through the ACA exchange, but I don't have any experience with that.
On an unrelated note, my medication is lowering my (normally slightly low) blood pressure and gravity is a motherfucker. This is not pleasant.
Hasn't @Tynic recently made the UK->US transition? She may be able to provide some info about transferring prescriptions though I suspect "They don't" is the answer.
As for normal set up it's going to vary on a bunch of stuff but the big one is going to be if Lady Raven has health insurance and if you can afford to pay the additional cost of putting you on that insurance. If that is all yes then the answer is find a US doctor that works with your insurance and they will establish a relationship and then (most likely) write you scripts. You fill the scripts, if they're common drugs available as generics you'll probably pay less than $20 for a month's supply of each, possibly less. If they're brand name/new/crazy weird you may end up spending much more.
If the answer is no then things will get complicated unfortunately as I think as a non-citizen resident you wouldn't qualify for a lot of the low income government programs and such.

I think Lady Raven is on her parent's insurance, they probably wouldn't want me on it too... My current stuff is venlafaxine and mirtazapine, google says they're both in the $20 range for generics. Are US doctors flexible on writing you a brand vs a generic? Is that a thing you can override em on? :P
Oh brilliant

There's a box marked "substitutions available" and I have never been given the brand for mess unless that was the only option, i.e. My immunosuppressants.

Careful that you don't find yourself short with venlafaxine. The side effects of suddenly coming off (or even weaning off) it are horrendous and can make you unable to function as a human being for a little while. Brain zaps are not fun.

oho, I'm aware. Run out a few times and found myself rationing, not fun.
Yeah I weaned off with the help of my doctor and stil phoned them checking that I wasn't about to have a stroke. I hid in bed for a few days after that!

Yeah, just tell your doctor when they write it, and/or the pharmacist when you drop the prescription off and they shouldn't have any problems hooking you up with the generics.
A lot of places (like Wal-Mart, Costco) usually even have signs to suggest asking about them.

And considering that say 30 pills of brand can cost 300 bucks and 30 pills of generic cost, like, 20....it matters.

Ugh, I am about 2 weeks behind getting my immunosuppresants because of switching insurance providers and I feel just drained physically and emotionally.
It is kinda odd correcting myself. I almost said "I feel the worst right now" but then a voice in the back of my head starting laughing at me and deriding me. I feel bad, but this sure as hell isn't "the worst".

I'm on six myself and at like 7ml/kilo which I guess is high as far as it goes.
I'm apparently on 5ml/kg, huh. My psoriasis isn't so bad in terms of coverage, but it's considered moderate-to-severe due to location (groin, scalp, face). I'm glad I started with super thick hair though bc the remicade has definitely caused some thinning

My foot has swollen up like crazy. I dunno if it's an allergic reaction to something or a bug/spider-bite or what happened. My other foot is less inflamed but also itches like mad.
Seriously, my foot is yuuuuuuuge right now.

Foot is still swollen like crazy, acne has broken out something crazy fierce, and I am at a loss as to what the fuck is going on
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
And now I'm having pain in my shoulder. It's bad enough I went to the hospital on monday and they did an xray. Turns out it's calcification of the tendon. I got a prescription for painkillers, enough for a week, and the doctor told me that if I was still in pain to come back after a week. Well, if I'm still in pain by late sunday, I most definitely will have to go back. And I'm quite sure I'll still be in pain.
EDIT: I'm lucky that I recently applied for, and received, a medical card (in Ireland). It covers medical treatment, and I think dental too. So that's one good thing.

Damn I caught up a bit on this thread from when I first read it but holy fuck man.
I'm sure you've got a team of doctors working for you, and it sounds like some form of vasculitis, and I'm not sure what your other health issues really are entirely but there's a few that are related to multiorgan issues (kidney in particular), like goodpasture syndrome that couple with systemic organ failure and swelling of the limbs and acne/purpura being present.
though I'm obviously not a doctor but I wish you the best of luck
not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

Which tendon is it, if you recall? I've had a litany of shoulder issues and I was told that x-ray couldn't catch that particular issue, but the may have been talking about something else.
So, I found out this weekend that my sister has a tumour in her pituitary gland
Based on odds it likely isn't malignant, but they don't know the extent until she gets a CT scan in two weeks (thanks, Canadian Health Care System)
It...does not feel good to be this far from home. Accepting I can't do anything from here isn't easy. Just gotta sit tight and hope for the best, I guess.
Oh, cool, good, excellent, the two weeks was just until she gets a call about when she can get an appointment
The actual wait list is ninety-seven days long, unless she suddenly gets worse symptoms, which are already Not Great, and has to go to the ER; otherwise she won't even be looked at until 2017

Just tell her to go to the ER if her symptoms get slightly worse.
I mean, if she's feeling bad enough she should go ahead and go there, get some relief, and she'all get the CT scan too.

the person who puts in my IV and sets up my meds is really the last person I want to be hyper sensitive, anxious, and jumpy please and thank
she also leaned on my IV line while taping it down, the only time I've ever yelped in pain during an IV
mine is eight weeks, but there's a woman in here on a five week cycle which I didn't know was a thing!
