Hi all. My wife and I have been going to PAX the past 4 years, but this is the first time we've decided on staying at a hotel (for 1 night). We're staying at the Park Plaza Hotel/Towers friday night. Now, we always meet up with friends pretty early outside in line, as we obviously like to get in as close to the front as we can....
Question is, for you hotel vets...whats the easiest way to handle your hotel check-in, and also parking? Do most hotels let you check in at 6am? Also, we dont want to pay to park at the garage near the hotel AND pay $12 to drive to/park at PAX. I havent seen any shuttle schedule yet, so i dont know how this all works? Any advice/help? Thanks in advance!

Check in is around noon-ish and I arrived early, maybe around 9 or 10 on Thursday. It was quite busy already but I did manage to check in without waiting. A 6am check in might require you to wait since your room might not be cleaned yet. You can request they hold your bags and/or as them to bring them up to your room when your room is ready.
Don't park at PAX if you're using a hotel garage. It's not worth it. There is a T stop less than 2 blocks away and you have the hotel shuttle.
Shuttles do not start THAT early, but last year the Park Plaza was the first stop on that route (the downtown/Chinatown/ medical area) meaning the chance of watching full buses go by and hoping a free one will show up was slim.
Shuttles start, I think, at about 8am. Just be advised that the street they wait at is not the street right next to the lobby. You need to hook around the lobby and pass a couple of in-house restaurants before you get to the other street side. Ask the front desk- they will tell you where to go if you're not sure.
My final advise about Park Plaza: Check and double check your hotel bill. They tried to charge me with a hotel meal charge that none of my party members ordered. I brought the matter to the front desk and they said they would take it off the bill, which they did.
Then a week later I look at my bank statement and I see a separate charge for the amount of the buffet that the Plaza charged me after the fact, so I had to call and explain, again, that this was wrong. It was a pointless hassle but it was eventually resolved.
