Bowser doesn't exist in a societal context that forces him to identify according to his specific species; he's clearly of a different species from his subjects, but he is still Koopa
Bowser is Bowser, first and foremost; he's never anything except for himself, and it's us, our narrow view on what constitutes identity, that's saddled him with the label "Meowser" just because he grew whiskers
You see this was back in the day before Wind Waker came out and made the Multiple Link Theory explicitly canonical, so even though it was generally understood that the different Zelda games generally involved different Links - it was accepted at the time that there were three, basically one for every two games up through Majora's Mask, and then the Oracle Link was also LttP/LA Link - there were still some people who woudl argue about that
And boy would they get mad about it

Consciousness is probably an illusion considering our body's cells are not themselves constant, making the question of which copy is the "real" one as irrelevant as asking which file is the real one after copying it.

while it's never really addressed i've always felt that there's a certain amount of overlap between the three triforce holders
sure link may have courage, but he possesses the wisdom to solve all those fucking puzzles and the power necessary to vanquish evil
zelda has wisdom, but must be courageous in the face of evil seeking to subjugate her and her kingdom, and is generally represented as being fairly magically powerful
ganondorf possess the wisdom necessary to manipulate others, and the courage to conquer
their manifestations of the other two aspects are coloured and influenced by their primary, but they possess all of them
Definitely, the Triforce is meant to be whole and the domains of the goddesses (raw matter, laws of nature, life) all complement each other
Skyward link can hold the whole triforce because he has all three in balance
I think that a lot of this has to do with the nature of the quest, and if you want to talk about Skyward Sword relating to the rest of the series in an interesting way then this is probably it
Ocarina of Time is framed in such a way that the three major powers of the game - Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf - are playing their roles off of each other, constantly in conflict. From the perspective of Link - the player - almost all of the quest is driven by Ganondorf, by the specific actions he's taken. Environments and obstacles are almost solely a product of some bad shit Ganondorf did, and he's what drives nearly every leg of your quest
In Skyward Sword that isn't really the case; the whole game is one long trial that bad guys happen to interfere in. Ghirahim and Demise aren't so much the reason for Link building up his arsenal as the fact of having it, which is best illustrated in his spiritual growth signified by the Silent Realm trials. He is forged in fire, over and over, to prove himself worthy in the eyes of the cthonic gods who rank above the one that he's fallen in love with, and to prove himself to himself
So when he reaches the end of the quest it's not that he has all of them in balance by nature - he's definitely a Courage kind of guy, which is why the Isle of Songs teaches him Farore's song first and Din's song last - but that he has proven himself worthy, and the quest is as much about himself as it's about his nemesis. It's why the villains in Skyward Sword are such a minor focus in comparison.
It's also why Skyward Sword Link is the only character in the whole franchise so far - the last one in history - who can just touch the Triforce without someone having to be absolute annihilated for it first
Consciousness is probably an illusion considering our body's cells are not themselves constant, making the question of which copy is the "real" one as irrelevant as asking which file is the real one after copying it.

Uh hey you're forgetting about a little guy named Daphnes.
Doesn't count. Ganondorf put that Triforce together by taking Zelda's piece an then beating Link unconscious; he brought it together by force. Anybody could have grabbed it then.

Fffffine okay.
But your neurons are in every way identical to mine, meaning our specific identity is completely just dependent on how they're connected to each other. You could in theory completely rewire somebody's brain as a copy of someone else's (assuming you had the technology to do so), and there would be no significant call to call either of the individuals the "real" one (or, okay, copy it over to two different brains and then compare those against each other). Each of them would have perfect memories of continuity up to that moment and believe they lived the life of the original.
Anyway all that to say that I fall on the side that identity is, on the metaphysical level, entirely meaningless.
The great part about having a Zelda nerd for a spouse is that you can have real time arguments about the amounts of wisdom-power-courage in the respective characters without typing it out, you can just yell it at him
I had never considered that all future Links could be in balance and the point was just never tested because they never really went after the Triforce first, but that's where she's coming from
I really have to stop and think about this shit
So if Ganondorf is a 10 on representing power, does that make link a 9/9/9? No, surely he'd be max for Courage. But at the same time surely he can't represent power as perfectly as Ganondorf? But if he's in balance...
Here, here are the important lines (OOT text dump) :
The Triforce...the sacred triangle...
it is a balance that weighs the
three forces:
Power, Wisdom and Courage.
If the heart of the one who holds
the sacred triangle has all three
forces in balance, that one will
gain the True Force to govern all.
But, if that one's heart is not in
balance, the Triforce will separate
into three parts:
Power, Wisdom and Courage.
Only one part will remain for the
one who touched the Triforce...the
part representing the force that
one most believes in.
If that one seeks the True Force,
that one must acquire the two
lost parts.
Those two parts will be held
within others chosen by destiny,
who will bear the Triforce mark
on the backs of their hands.
Skyward Sword Link was definitely in balance; the Triforce as a whole stayed for him. I can't recollect all the Links this applies to (LttP Link, at least) but it's not a big leap to assume it's a component of being a Link.
(Wyborn and I are now arguing about this.)
Edit: Key thing of note: ol Triforce did not remain when Daphnes used it, either.
Like if Wyborn walked up to Eiji Aonuma and asked him half these questions Aonuma would probably laugh and say "nah we did it this way so you'd have a reason to fight him, I dunno"
"people like getting the Triforce so we put it in this one"

Uh hey you're forgetting about a little guy named Daphnes.
This is as much a kirby game as new super mario bros is a mario game
moreso since there isn't a 'main line' of kirby games
