I had actually forgotten how close Groose grows to the old woman in the Sealed Temple. His affection for her, and acknowledgement that she brings out the best in him, might be the most endearing thing about him.

Ha okay that time went a lot better
Okay I can dig on some Fire Emblem I guess! Even in the demo the writing seemed pretty snappy
Tomorrow I'll try the Monster Hunter 4 demo
The thing that locked me into loving Awakening's writing was Lissa.
Spunky healer princesses are a dime a dozen. They're usually somewhere between mildly irritating and outright hateful. Lissa... isn't.
She's actually fun and likable. And if the spunky princess is likable, well, it's a reason to have faith.

Yeah once you wrap your brain around how the tactics work it goes waaaay better.
Unfortunately I've forgotten what the trick is.
I think I want to go back and finish it. And by that I mean start over

Oh nooo.
I just noticed a thing that is super annoying if you notice it. Hoping I forget about it at some point.
The thing how most dialogue isn't voiced, each character just starts with "huh? what? Hmm... uhhgh" so conversations just sound like a whole bunch of grunts
Artreus there's a way to turn off just the voices in FE:A, in the options. You definitely want the music to stay on, because the music for Awakening is rad.

Glad you didn't hate it
If you pick it up def go with casual/permadeath off
I think it'd be up there for 'best value' on the machine as well
I'm all for giving options to the player, so I'm glad they've included the options, but when I finally start up Awakening, there's no way I'll turn off permadeath
That feels antithetical to everything I've heard about Fire Emblem over the years. It doesn't seem like it would feel right

have fun replaying missions over and over not to lose anyone

Yeah restarting whenever anyone died combined with trying to grind and make a shipping grid so I can get a galeforce team is kinda why I ended up dropping that game. I should start over and just mess around sometime.

The trick is mostly to stay just out of the enemy's range and try to bait them in.
That doesn't work every mission though, there are some stupidly brutal defense missions or ones where you're surrounded and have nowhere to go, at which point the main thing to do is to create barriers with your tanks to keep your softies out of enemy range.

I didn't replay missions in XCOM when I lost good soldiers, I just moved on and built up new units
Because the people in awakening are unique and non replaceble.
Also if a lady character dies you lose out on recruting her kid(s) later on, and losing a guy can stop you from being able to pass on useful abilities to some of the kids.
I can't wrap my head around why they would make permadeath a series staple if they just intend you to replay it until everyone survives
Like why would they go through the trouble of making a mutable story that can move forward without certain characters if that's not their intention?
because they want to impress on you the idea of playing perfectly, but also give you the option to move on if you just straight up can't beat a mission without losing anyone
It's a punishment. You are not meant to lose people in FE.
I don't think the creators intend for you to not lose anybody, that's why the permadeath is there
they just expect you to keep casualties relatively low (if you are really gung-ho about taking whatever lemons life gives you, you can recruit the spotpass pseudo-legacy characters to fill empty roles)
definitely lower than xcom, where even not counting the dialogue and such your guys are way more replaceable since there's...five(?) classes

Probably gonna stick to ones I haven't played for right now so
The oracles games, minish cap, and mm
2D:
LttP
Zelda 2
Zelda 1
LBW
Links Awakening
Spirit Tracks
Phantom Hourglass
3D:
Twilight Princess
Wind Waker
Skyward Sword
Ocarina of Time
Hopefully I can add some games to those ranks in the next few monts/weeks
Trying to figure out if I should get it on the WIIU or the 3DS
can you play virtual console games on the gamepad?

Unless you got the 3DS ambassador games, you can't get it on 3DS, so that'll probably make the decision easier.
Theres no proof he's not dead.
Also, everything is dongs.
It does, thanks!
Recently I had a super frustrating race in Sleeping Dogs, I had been going at it for something like an hour and a half
In desperation, I muted my TV
I got it on the second try
Muted is the way and the light
(nah I don't care)
I will say despite being super happy with how TP held up
The music is not very good for a zelda game

There are a lot more things to examine in this game. Probably because it's an apartment instead of a hotel where people are only staying temporarily.
Kyle's room is cushy!
.....Aaaand, they just stuck in a Pokemon reference (he mentioned he liked suits, as they were comfy and easy to wear)

coolsmiley) the games were made with the intention that you beat missions without losing people
Steam | Twitter
This isn't xcom
when you lose people in fire emblem, you are losing story bits, potential offspring, and also you only have x number of each class
the creators absolutely intend for you to replay until you don't lose anyone in FE
Which is why I turn it off
Edit:
Also in FE there are only so many people
you can't just get new guys like in xcom
you can put the game in an unwinnable state if you keep losing peopl
You can, but also you can't get it for 3DS so your choice is kinda made for you right there.

Like a tactician would.

But turning it off then throws this out the window!
Which is why people don't turn it off!
It's just the game's Easy mode.
which is why that wasn't an option until this game
But I think they realized there were enough people who don't want to play that way
For me I would absolutely have never played it without the option
