After a fairly fussy week Miles is eating everything in sight. Growth spurt time?
And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn
My sister sent our kids those Story Cubes, and they're pretty great, though we've found the stories are often along the lines of "there was a wizard and he met a sheep and they went on a plane and got struck by lightning", just listing the stuff that they see on the dice with a very thin narrative around it.
The Tell Me A Story cards have worked a bit better so far, because everything's robot-themed (or whatever the pack in question is), so while every story is a robot story, once they have a basic theme to work within, they find it easier to come up with variations.
Ada loves Little Blue Truck. It's her favorite book. She mostly loves holding the book and turning the pages... we can sometimes even keep up and actually read it. Board books only for now, since she tears up anything else.
We recently got Caps for Sale. She loves the page with the monkeys, and makes delighted monkey noises when she sees them.
If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
If our baby is screaming and we're trying to solve the problem by changing the temperature with an open window, or just need a breath of air that doesn't smell like diapers, or to get the air in the room moving, please understand that it's in everyone's best interest that the baby stop screaming. No baby is horrible but some adults are.

Here's my 8 month old son Luca around Christmas time, trying solids for the first time.

rex's eating is accelerating at an unstoppable rate. he turned 8 months last week. this weekend we were at the pub and ordered him a side of lemon, garlic, chilli and olive oil-drizzled brocollini and sugar snap peas. he pretty well ate the whole plate.
recently he and his mummy went to a "thermomix" party, which is like a tupperware party for $2000 blenders. all the other kids were chilling out, but rex was getting increasingly angsty. turns out he was transfixed on the demo food and wouldn't relax till he'd gotten to try the freshly made hummus and instant-rise pizza dough.

We gutted Luke's bedroom yesterday. His room is tiny but we hadn't gone through stuff for awhile. So much work but we freed up over half his closet. Today I wire his room for Ethernet for the 360...maybe...I managed to get his stomach bug from last week.
I've played it with him watching a few times, but yesterday I let Weston (2yrs 4 months) have the controller to play Goat Simulator on Steam. After a few minutes he figured out the "A button" jumps and the "Y Button" plays dead.
Cue very happy boy cackling with glee every time the goat jumped and played dead.
Best kids game ever.

Why yes I CAN sit up in my froggy chair, why do you ask?
Sending this off to the wife to browse for deals. The deals in store have been pretty crappy.
My update time. UGH weening and sleep changes. He's almost 2 now and wife is ready to start. At the same time, we're trying to be less involved at sleep (nap and night time). No sneaking out once he's asleep. He has to fall asleep on his own now (he was about 50/50 up to this point).
Last couple nights have been ROUGH.

Man those are hard times. :bro: It's the worst thing in the world to have to look at your kid and say "I know you're hurting and I know you don't want me to do this, but I have to because this is the best for you."
I remember back when Adelaide had just moved into her own bed. My wife would handle bedtime every night, but I was concerned that Adelaide would have a hard time with me if my wife was out late or something, and I had fond memories of bedtime with my dad, so I started doing bedtime to get her used to it.
What followed was about five nights of screaming, crying, kicking, and flailing. Five nights of "I WANT MOMMY! I DON'T WANT YOU! I DON'T LIKE YOU!" and every other "mean" thing her little toddler brain could think of to get me to leave. Five nights of me sitting next to her bed, on the verge of tears, wanting nothing more than to either yell back, give up, or break down and cry (sometimes all three at once).
Everything was fine once she got past her fear, and both girls are great at bedtime now with whoever is doing it, but damn it took some pain to get there.

So I was worried he would be upset so I was talking to him on the way home trying to assure him I wasnt upset, so I ask :
We told him it's OK and there's nothing to be embarrassed about and he said, I'm not embarrassed, I got sick.
Kid definitely tales after me, not mom.

He genuinely seems to love this:
It genuinely holds his interest.
I was reading him Fellowship and Hitchhiker's before he was born.

I read him DINOTOPIA, but he's too grabby now, i think for a book like that. It's not a board book and it's kinda rare...

He wouldn't move unless he was holding onto the lead.
Going to have to get another strap or something so he can hold that whilst we hold the other one.

If you have a horrible screaming baby, please close your windows instead of sharing the screaming with your friendly neighbours.
