I really want to see what it was like when she became President!
It could have been ben too! The Secret Service agent was speaking to both of them... Personally I thought she was the President and Ben was Vice President
One of the trick or treaters Andy gives candy to is dressed as Star Lord, and the champagne given to Craig and Typhoon in the future has "Jean-Ralphio" on the label
I'm not a big fan of flash forward endings, to be honest. I think my favourite sitcom finale would be the Scrubs one from the 8th season (after Blackadder, of course). It ended on such an amazing note of hope and optimism without being sappy. The future is completely open and any ending you can imagine for these people is possible.
To me, this will always be infinitely more powerful than telling you exactly where everyone ended up. Especially after, as Pooro said, we just had an entire season that was basically a flash foward ending.
Also, I'm not sure what Jim O'Heir meant when he said this has never been done before in a sitcom. Literally less than a year ago, How I Met Your Mother went for the same kind of ending, though much less successfully.
I'm not saying I didn't like the finale. It would have been impossible for all these characters' final goodbyes to not be touching. I just think I liked all the other finales they did more.
Well if youre okay with the stabbing, petty theft, burglary, fraud, major theft, vandalism ,stalking, identity theft, and grand theft auto youll be a good couple
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
Didn't love the Parks finale. Meandering, vague thoughts on why not:
I thought the power of the conceit - seeing all the happy endings and happy new beginnings for the characters - was kinda diluted by having a whole season of happy endings and new beginnings. It was a pleasant, lovely epilogue, but... I don't know, the stakes just never felt particularly high this season. There was no problem that wasn't solved pretty much immediately, there was no struggle. Which meant the happy endings weren't particularly... cathartic?
I dunno, I'm not trying to be a negative nancy here. I thought it was good, I thought it was nice, but it felt kinda... divorced from reality, maybe? In earlier P&R, the world was awful and the gang kept persevering because they loved one another. Very relatable, very inspiring. As the edges of the show (understandably) softened, the world started to become kinda unrecognizably wholesome and good, and the people preternaturally successful and accomplished and fulfilled.
I'm not saying the optimism is unearned or anything, it just didn't resonate as much, for me, as when their optimism was harder earned. If that makes any sense.
For me, the entire final season being squeezed into a month time period made it feel like an extended farewell. It was like talking with a friend and saying "well, goodbye" a dozen times before actually hanging up.

Yeah, I think I agree with you.
The way I would phrase is it is that while I thought it was a good finale, I didn't think it was a good episode of television.
It wraps everything up super neatly, there is an absolute minimum of actual conflict taking place, and so on. It's like, if you showed that episode to someone who had never watched Parks and Rec before, would they enjoy it? There are some good jokes, I suppose, but it's mostly character based humor anyways.
It was kind of more of a reunion show than an actual episode of Parks and Rec, especially with all of the time travel shenanigans in place.
I personally really liked the finale, especially the stuff with Ron, but I can see where you guys are coming from. But with a show as unrelentingly optimistic as parks, I think the approach they took was pretty much perfect.

yeah I was ok with it not being funny and more just being an ending.

I'm pretty okay with it as a finale, don't get me wrong.
But this entire season has been that weird ending thing to some degree, so an episode that does it twice as hard, it gets to be a bit much.
I just started watching Justified and Im up to episode 12 of season 1 and I cant bring myself to 13, but not for the reasons you think. I have like an extreme aversion to someone stuffing up something for someone else, like it made the Office really hard to watch, even though I loved it, so
blowing up the truck full of drugs, even though its two bad guys fucking each other over, made me so anxious and uncomfortable. I have a serious problem
I finished season one of Broad City. It's so good! Some great stuff from comedy central last year between that and Review. Just don't make me pick between them.
Ive only seen the aussie review and even that engaged my vicarious embarrassment reflex too hard, I dont think id be able to handle the US one which sounds worse
I loved the first couple episodes of review, but the further into the season it got, the more and more absurd and unrealistic it became, which also had the effect of making a lot of the jokes really predictable. I'm hoping that its second season is similar to Parks, where it comes back more fully formed and with a better idea of who the character is and what his job is.
Also, part of that problem may be that I've seen a few episodes of the Australian one, and the humor felt a lot dryer and more plausible.

Man his entire thing was touching someone and then it would do a flash-forward to show their future...I'm not crazy...

I specifically checked for a producer's cut before I started that Parks and Rec episode, they must have added it while I was watching

Though my biggest surprise is still The Goldbergs. I really love that show.
