Kami + Piccolo's dumb fucking soul is boring and makes fights doubly boring

So who's this "John" dude? I did the PQ where you fight Ape Vegetta and, surprising everyone (including myself) managed to 1HKO him (seriously! Just beat down his stamina/shield, grabbed his tail and done) and that unlocked the underground lake area.

Then this John dude proceeded to whip my ass.

Should be a time patroller. Part of the ultimate finish I think.

So the final drain that can be gotten drains both stamina and ki which is pretty powerful. Also, SSJ stuff is so much easier to maintain than Kaioken.

Frost Demon named Heater. Not sure what his skills are since I know basically nothing about the mechanics of the game, but last I saw he was had Mr. Satan's hairstyle so he's made the best decisions possible as usual.

I read that as Heather and it was really funny for some reason.

Oh I was wrong about that bs PQ.

it goes Yamcha+Tien+Piccolo, then 18+Krillin, then Hercule+Videl+Maijin Buu, then Kid Trunks+Vegeta+Future Trunks, then Goten+Gohan+Goku, then SS3 Goku. I actually don't know if it ends there, because I had the slimmest sliver of life when SS3 Goku got up, and no more healing items.

It continues if you get the ultimate finish. After SSJ3 Goku you fight SSJ Gotenks, Vegeta, and Goku. Then you fight SSJ3 Gotenks and SSJ Vegeto.

And Buu's get HEALTH REGEN at full stamina, they have a ton of health, and the regen is NOT insignificant.

I just wanted to point out that Buu race gets a damage reduction at full stamina, not health regen (that would have to be from a Z soul effect).

That is the Namekiam trait I believe, though there are souls that give health regen at full ki.

Does the character I pick for a PQ mission affect the points I gain towards the master I have or item drops?

Item drops in PQ come from the enemies, so no. Supposedly, if you take your master on PQs with you, they level faster.

If you get the game, check out the other races

I love being a Saiyan but it feels a bit like being a one trick pony

Basically you pick a time to go SSJ and then it's spam, spam, spam and if anything lives after that, you're in a bit of trouble

Unless you die and come back and now you have unlimited Ki which means unlimited Super Saiyan.

Also, just because Ki-Blast Saiyan is broke as all hell dosen't mean you can't try something else with it.

I highly recommend going Strike-Based SSJ as well. There's a couple of Z-Souls that lend well to it and you're not helpless after SSJ runs out since your Ki-Strikes and normal strikes will do good damage, it's just a straight damage buff, which sync's well to SSJ and SSJ2's strengths.

I don't recommend going a Jack-Of-All Trades build though, Saiyan's are bad at that unfortunatley.

This "connecting to xenoverse servers" music is a pretty okay, "The Sims" style track.
Nowhere close to the grand daddy though.

It's kind of weird that SSJ boosts Strikes and SV boosts Ki, yet larger body types boost strikes and have a penalty to Ki

I'm kinda inbetween on the combat. It's definitely isn't budokai, but there's still a bunch of light touches that have basically carried over.
They sorta dropped some of the more interesting 3D fighter stuff to make a 3D brawler, and I think it's mostly ok. Story bits are still enjoyable.
I find I'm doing a lot of evasion/deflection stuff by reflex.
I miss the combos = crazy move, followed by rock paper scissors to determine if someone sidesteped a blast, or caught a kamehameha barrage face first.

I found an absolute buttload of hidden stats and PQ requirements. It's at a place I honestly forgot still existed: GameFAQs!

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/805627-dragon-ball-xenoverse

The regular topics are mostly dark, dark places but the stickies have almost everything you'd want to know that this game doesn't tell you, including stuff like exactly what changes stats.

One of the HUGE ones I noticed is that Thin characters do full Ki Super damage and 2/3 Strike Super damage, and vice versa. Middle slider characters do 5/6 of each.

Also...it really just looks like Namekians are bad.

Combat in the game is cool but it has issues.

Spoiler because I don't want to post a big wall of text.
I find the combat to be really clunky. Fighting 1 on 1 is really fun. Lots of cool things can happen and I really enjoy it. What I find clunky about 1v1 fighting is mostly blocking and grabs. Neither feels smooth or natural. I don't really ever block because by the time it would be useful I can't start blocking because of the clunkiness of transitioning into a blocking stance. Grabs are the same. If I start up a basic attack combo on a target and they are blocking, I have to completely stop what I'm doing, wait a second and then initiate the grab and usually by then I'm either being attacked, they target has moved away, or I didn't need to grab anymore to break the block.

Fighting multiple enemies is where it becomes a big pain. If I am fighting two enemies and I am targeted on enemy 1 and enemy 2 is beating me up I can't activate the Vanish dodge. I can't easily switch targets so that I can dodge so my only choice is to use an evasive ultimate which I think uses roughly the same stamina so it isn't a huge issue I just find that to be a weird thing to have happening. Basic ki blasts are also a pain when fighting two enemies. If I am charging target 1 and target 2 hits me with some basic ki blasts it stutters my character and takes me out of the charge. Or if I have a combo going on target 1 and target 2 hits me the combo breaks. It can become such an incredibly tedious and frustrating experience. There are other things about fighting multiple enemies but they aren't too bad. Some enemies will use an ultimate a few times in a row and combo off of each other to basically decimate me.

Because of some of this I don't even really do normal combat during PQ stuff anymore. I just ultimate spam stuff because it is more efficient for farming stuff. I feel like this is a massive waste of the combat system. The issues I talk about can be a pain but overall the fighting is a lot of fun and there were moments when I would do some really cool combos but fighting like that during PQs while farming just took too long and sometimes finishing in a certain time is part of the PQ requirement.

In all the combat system has flaws but it is a lot of fun and pulling off cool combos is great. Plus a lot of the abilities look really cool.

As for PvP combat, I think Strike based players might have an advantage. I was testing stuff with my brother, I wanted to see if super/ultimate ki blasts could cancel each other out. I ended up having a quick fight, I was at 80 and my brother was high 50's low 60's in level and I nearly lost. I'm entirely ki blast specced and my brother is specced for strikes.

man this game is hard?! or am i bad?

i'm at the part where you have to fight frieza like 5 times in a row. i manage to get to the part with goku charging the spirit bomb and i just get overwhelmed.

i made a female saiyan because you don't really see any of those.

also mostly unrelated but i saw it mentioned a few pages back. db multiverse is pretty great. because it has vegetto in it being badass which the actual show did not have enough of.
