it's really effed up that you can't make a robot in this game
My Human is gonna be a robot.
Gonna go with Android Moves and Z-Souls and everything but I don't think I can actually do a feasible Android build. Maybe with the right clothes I can get it statistically perfect. BUT I'm making Girl Android 17 so THAT'S out the window.
Like, Ideally it would be.
100 Health
25 Ki
25 Stam
100 Basic
75 Ki Blasts
for 17 at least 18 would have like 50 Ki Strike and 50 Ki Blasts but that's impossible because it's too many points.
Like maybe if I scaled it down to their "actual" DBZ stats in comparison to the main cast but that would be dumb.
But I like the idea of a High Health-High Basic-High Ki Blast character.
OH! Also tonight if anyone has an alts they want powerleveled I can do so since my main is just grinding out items for my alts.
So, I'm going to spoil this, but I THINK there maybe some Dragonball:Return of F spoilers in this game. Spoiled
If you bring Whis to fight Frieza their dialogue is SUPER odd. Now this is paraphrasing so apologies if it's not exact
Whis: Well, hello Frieza, it's been awhile.
Frieza: DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE YOU KNOW ME!
Beerus and Whis knew OF Frieza and the next time Beerus woke up he was going to kick his ass, but I don't think they actually met.
And considering Toriyama is credited with the storyboard for this game I am 99% sure Whis plays a part in kicking his ass, which has me KINDA hyped for Return of F.

Well
Beerus also says he's the one who told Frieza to destroy planet Vegeta. So there is some prior interaction between those three.
So I think I may have shot myself in the foot a little with my Saiyan.
If I'm wanting to play her as a ki blast hit-and-runner, do I really need to be putting much into stamina?
Stamina is all-around useful to get out of combos, supers and ultimates, also for getting groups of enemies off your back, so it might fit the playstyle you're aiming for, especially if you don't put many points into health while leveling up
Who do ya'll use on escort missions. My own dude can't kill folk fast enough, especially when damage translates into enemies throwing ultimates on the dude I'm trying to protect.
Any companion characters with especially useful AI?
You might want to bring your current master since taking them on missions is said to increase your progress with them
I don't like taking really tanky characters with me because they seem to do a bit less damage and still die very fast to some ultimates, Goku always seems like a good option because he's fairly rounded and you get frequently upgraded versions of him - other characters get some surprisingly good banter between each other and with the enemy though

I generally bring both my current master, and whoever is the funniest/least appropriate for the mission. Like, I bet Yamcha would be delighted to visit Namek. Or make Kid Trunks punch Nappa. Androids vs Frieza, you get the picture. AI partners are just there to distract the enemy until I shove punchlasers down their face, and maybe revive me when if I screw it up.
Come to think of it, Hercule's ultimate basically makes everyone in the arena try to kill him and he has a taunt for one of his specials, so bringing him along might help keep the pressure off.
Boy, this random drop thing is really strange for the kind of game this is. Maybe if it was tuned better, I dunno. I'm not really annoyed at Super Vegeta not having dropped yet, since something like that should be kind of rare I suppose and take a while to "learn", but i'm not getting any of the drops from this mission at all.

I gave up trying to get Super Vegeta and even Super Vegeta 2. Are they any better than Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2?

From what i've read Super Saiyan gives a small boost to ki damage and a slightly larger boost to strike damage, and Super Vegeta is the opposite.

Cheers. Still haven't gotten Super Vegeta, but Super Vegeta 2 and "It's a Super Saiyan bargain sale" Z-soul is a good combo. Haven't noticed a massive difference in my ki blasts, but it's enough to warrant the transformation.
Right now i'm just blitzing through the story because I want to try a different character and playstyle. Ki damage saiyan isn't really doing it for me anymore.
I mean yeah, I can just go Super Vegeta and spam Final Flash and win every fight, but oh my god that's so boring. If I try to play it normally, though, the amount of health these guys have I just can't deal with using my normal ki supers in the amount of health I have (not much). Doesn't help I miss with at least half my attacks because i'm not very good at fighting games.
Sure looks awesome though.
I think strike-based earthling will be more fun once I unlock all the character slots. I'll at least be able to make sure most of my attacks hit their target.

I'm going to be honest with you.
Yes, ki-blast is boring. It is boring as HELL until you're doing THE DEEPS.
Strike is far more entertaining, but there are a GOOD amount of story instances that throw you into 1vX and Super Armor situations that Ki-Blasts is just overwhelmingly better for clearing it, until you get that Super Armor stance of your own.
I'm super sad that there is such a limited number of gear bonus options
Like, there is nothing that's +Basic Attack +Stamina +Health, or +Basic +Ki Super. I want that one so I can make a guy designed around juggling into Masenko or Kamekameha, but all the gear is either bad for Ki or bad for Attack
Android 17's clothes seem to be the only gear without any drawbacks
Also, if you're looking for a good Super Armor ability, get Kakaroooot! from Heated, Furious, Ultimate Battle. It starts you off with super armor that stays until you lose a certain amount of health. It's not a lot, but it's fantastic for starting a match by just brawling the shit out of someone.
spooky, i have roughly the same strategy and I'm using piccolo gear exclusively right now
basic attacks are more about locking down the opponent so you can launch your super with impunity
for what it's worth, I just finished up frieza saga and I'm using Crusher Ball and Kamehameha as mid to long range, and Double Sundayas a combo finisher*, like we discussed, but my real MVP so far is Death Slash for combo finishing, the stun and knockback are super good for the purposes you're discussing
*Double Sunday should not be underestimated, though, it has even less casting time than masenko, equivalent damage, and great knockback
my ults are Weekend, which packs GREAT damage, and VACATION DELETE, which is maybe my favorite move name so far and packs a hell of a stun
Beat the story, thought it was pretty fun. But then Dragonball Z basically took up my entire adolescence so just seeing my created character doing a Kamehameha next go Goku is enough to make me grin like an idiot.
I don't think i'm good enough at action/fighting games to do many of the harder PQs, though. I tried... 47, I think it was and the end encounter of it just made me laugh and write it off entirely. I mean, I get that it's probably the hardest fight in the game but I could do literally nothing from the moment I came out of the portal. Just stun-locked to death even while using evasion moves.
If everything on the harder tier is of that type of encounter and i'm not really interested in grinding out for equipment drops i'm not sure how much more this game can offer me. I am trying a strike character now though so maybe that'll be a bit more enjoyable.

There are currently 55 PQs in the game and a lot of them involve fighting multiple enemies at once that are very powerful. It is really rough and for the most part even beating the game wouldn't signify that you are ready for the seven star PQs. Just being the same level as the enemies means you are probably still going to have a really hard fight.
Also, strike characters do not perform nearly as well as ki blast characters. I started as a striker on my Saiyan and I had a really hard time doing the PQs. A lot of my stuff was easily interrupted by attacks from another enemy while I focused on one. Switching to ki blasts made them far easier. Unfortunately it seems the best and fastest way to do PQs is to spam ki blast super and ultimate skills and truck their health.
Strike characters can be a ton of fun once you become comfortable with all the combos and find the right strike supers that combo into the basic attack combos. I also find strike based characters to do really well in PvP.
Edit: If I had known what the RNG in this game is like I probably would not have bought it. It destroys a lot of the fun for me.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
ki focused earthlings might be the best build in the game, don't pump their max ki too high to benfit from their passive, keep health and stamina decent, put a litttttle into basic attacks to offset the negatives that your gear will give you
hit and run is the name of the game, stay back and work your mid to long range game, then go in and hit some basic attack combos to build your meter back up, finish with a super to put them in good position for an ultimate

17's barrier is a life saver, I wish I could partner it up with something which is more reliable for pushing away groups of enemies
Now its just a question of when i get this game
Whis: Well, hello Frieza, it's been awhile.
Frieza: DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE YOU KNOW ME!

If you want to deal with super armor be a higher level or use blue hurricane/victory rush as a striker
You can get pose k from one of the ginyu missions, it gives you super armor

Max strike supers, Ki, and Stamina with both Super Saiyan 2 and Kaioken x20 equipped and the Broly Z-Soul that starts you with full Ki
Immediately power up and start throwing out strike ultimates
Because I love me some Namekians.
They aren't specific to Namekians but those moves are in the game.
